Abstract

The property and real estate sector plays a crucial role in the Indonesian economy but faces significant risks of financial distress. This study aims to identify the determinants of financial distress within this sector, focusing on companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange between 2018 and 2022. The research examines the effects of profitability, liquidity, leverage, interest rates, and inflation on financial distress. Using a quantitative approach, this study applies statistical techniques and regression analysis to secondary data from various property and real estate companies. The findings reveal that: (i) profitability has a negative impact on financial distress, indicating that lower profitability increases the likelihood of financial difficulties; (ii) liquidity also shows a negative relationship with financial distress, meaning reduced liquidity elevates financial risk; (iii) leverage negatively influences financial distress, suggesting that higher debt levels exacerbate financial instability; (iv) rising interest rates contribute to financial distress by increasing borrowing costs, thereby straining company resources; and (v) inflation worsens financial distress by eroding purchasing power and dampening property demand. This study provides valuable insights for stakeholders, including investors and policymakers, to enhance their understanding of financial risk management in the property and real estate sector. The novelty of this research lies in its specific focus on a critical period and sector within the Indonesian economic landscape, addressing key areas of concern for financial stability

Abstract

This study examines the influence of profitability (Return on Assets/ROA), leverage (Debt-to-Equity Ratio/DER), and company size (LNAssets) on company value (Tobin’s Q) in Indonesia and Malaysia during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research aims to compare these relationships in both countries, considering differences in market maturity and investor behavior. Employing a quantitative approach, the study uses secondary data from 50 manufacturing companies in Indonesia and 42 in Malaysia, covering 2019–2021. Multiple linear regression was applied to analyze the data. The findings reveal that ROA positively impacts company value in both countries, with a more substantial effect observed in Indonesia due to its less mature market environment. DER also positively influences company value, as moderate leverage signals financial stability and growth potential. However, LNAssets negatively affect company value in Indonesia, reflecting agency conflicts and operational inefficiencies, while its effect in Malaysia is insignificant, indicating better governance and asset management. The results highlight that market dynamics and investor sophistication shape the effect of financial metrics on company value. This study offers practical implications for investors and policymakers. It provides insights into interpreting financial signals across different market contexts for investors. For policymakers, it underscores the importance of enhancing corporate governance in Indonesia to mitigate agency conflicts. The study’s novelty lies in its comparative analysis of Indonesia and Malaysia, demonstrating how market maturity and governance structures influence the relationship between financial metrics and company value. These findings contribute to firm performance and valuation literature during economic disruptions.

Abstract

Stunting risks children's physical, mental, and cognitive development, leading to long-term impairments, significantly affecting their overall growth, learning abilities, and future potential. Online puzzle games allow children to practice concentration and hand-eye coordination through interactive challenges that stimulate children's creativity and memory. This study aims to assess the effect of educational online puzzle games on the development of preschool children with stunting symptoms. A pre-experimental design with a pretest-posttest approach was used, involving 52 children aged 3-6 years diagnosed with stunting symptoms. The children's development was measured using the Denver II screening tool. Data were processed using editing, coding, scoring, and tabulation, followed by crosstab statistical analysis. The results showed that 50% of respondents had abnormal development before playing the online puzzle game, while 65.4% had normal development afterwards. A significant improvement was observed, as indicated by the rejection of H0, suggesting that online puzzle games positively affect the development of preschool children with stunting symptoms. The study concludes that online puzzle games can stimulate the development of children with stunting symptoms. It is recommended that families regularly provide educational games to enhance the development of children affected by stunting symptoms. Future research should consider larger sample sizes and explore the long-term effects of such interventions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of Good Corporate Governance (GCG) mechanisms, gender diversity, and profitability on financial distress in manufacturing companies in the consumer non-cyclicals sector listed on the Indonesian Stock Exchange during a specified period. Financial distress is a critical condition that can threaten a company's operational continuity. The methodology employed is logistic regression analysis with a sample of companies that meet certain criteria, resulting in a comprehensive dataset. The findings indicate that institutional ownership and audit committees do not have a significant impact on financial distress, while gender diversity also shows no meaningful effect. Conversely, net profit margin is found to negatively influence financial distress, indicating that companies with lower net profit margins are more vulnerable to financial difficulties. The developed regression model demonstrates substantial explanatory power regarding the variation in interest coverage ratios based on the independent variables studied. This research provides important insights for companies and stakeholders in implementing good governance practices and considering gender diversity as a factor in financial risk management. The findings are expected to contribute to the development of theory and practice in accounting and financial management, as well as assist companies in preventing financial distress and enhancing long-term performance.
