Abstract

Hypertension is one of the most common non-communicable diseases worldwide, with its prevalence increasing with age. Data from the World Health Organization (WHO) shows that about 1.13 billion people in the world suffer from hypertension, and this number is expected to increase to 1.5 billion by 2025. Self-management is becoming an important approach in hypertension management, which includes the ability of individuals to manage their own health through blood pressure monitoring, dietary regulation, physical activity, and adherence to medication. This study aims to explore the influence of factors such as knowledge, social support, physical condition, and access to health services on self-management skills in the elderly with hypertension. The method used was a correlational research design with a cross-sectional approach, involving elderly respondents with hypertension in Aceh Besar. The results of the analysis show that housing conditions and family support are the main predictors in self-management, with the highest R-Square value of 0.840. Knowledge also contributed significantly, while the distance of health services showed a smaller influence. In conclusion, to improve self-management in the elderly with hypertension, it is important to apply a holistic approach that considers social, environmental, and health education factors. Integrated interventions can help the elderly manage their condition more effectively, improve their quality of life, and reduce complications related to hypertension.

Abstract

Knowledge and culture have an important role in increasing the coverage of exclusive breastfeeding for infants aged 0-6 months. Based on the results of the survey directly obtained in the field, the coverage of exclusive breastfeeding for infants aged 0-6 months is low. The purpose of this study was to examine the low coverage of exclusive breastfeeding in the working area of the Meutulang Health Center, Panton Reu District, West Aceh Regency. The research method used is a qualitative method with an exploratory descriptive approach, namely conducting in-depth interviews, which aims to explore the reasons why mothers do not exclusively breastfeed their babies until the age of 6 months. The results showed that the knowledge of breastfeeding mothers was still lacking regarding understanding in exclusive breastfeeding, the attitude of breastfeeding mothers was still not sure about giving only breast milk. culture is very closely related to exclusive breastfeeding, where mothers hold on to ancestral cultures that are passed down from generation to generation such as the peucicap culture and the provision of complementary feeding is given to infants before the age of 6 months, which should only be given breast milk. The conclusion is that exclusive breastfeeding in the working area of the Meutulang Public Health Center is still low, as evidenced by the results of research that has been carried out where knowledge and culture have a strong influence which is then followed by the attitude and work of the mother. Suggestions are expected for health centers and related agencies to more often conduct counseling, outreach and education to the community, especially mothers about the importance of exclusive breastfeeding aged 0-6 months

Abstract

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a developmental disorder that significantly impacts communication, social interaction, and behavior in children, often leading to withdrawal, repetitive behaviors, and difficulties with eye contact. Traditional diagnostic methods primarily relied on behavioral assessments, which have proven insufficient in accuracy. This study aims to enhance ASD diagnosis by employing Electroencephalography (EEG) as an objective marker to differentiate between individuals with ASD and neurotypical individuals. Utilizing a dataset from King Abdulaziz University comprising 16 children—4 neurotypical and 12 with ASD—this research implements preprocessing techniques such as Independent Component Analysis (ICA) to eliminate noise and artifacts from EEG signals. Following this, Wavelet Packet Decomposition (WPD) is applied at three levels to improve signal resolution. Statistical features including mean, variance, skewness, and kurtosis are extracted for classification purposes. The Random Forest (RF) method is then employed for classification, achieving an accuracy of 76.8%. However, classification errors predominantly arise from the imbalance in the dataset, with more data available for ASD subjects compared to neurotypical subjects. The findings reveal significant differences in statistical features between the two groups, indicating the potential of EEG technology and computational algorithms in developing a more accurate and objective ASD diagnosis system. This research contributes valuable insights for early intervention strategies and future studies aimed at improving diagnostic methodologies for children with autism.
