Abstract

Contextual learning is an approach that links teaching materials with the real life of students, so that learning is more meaningful. so that learning is more meaningful. This article aims to analyze the role of contextual learning in instilling values of religious moderation in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) subjects. moderation in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) subjects. This research method uses descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation studies. This research recommends the application of contextual learning as an effective method to instill religious moderation values in the educational environment.

Abstract

Abstract Critical thinking skills in science learning are important competencies for elementary school students in facing the challenges of the 21st century. This study aims to describe the critical thinking skills of grade V students in science learning at MI Miftahul Huda Banyuwangi. The method used was descriptive qualitative with a phenomenological approach. The results showed that 18 out of 26 students obtained a percentage of <50%, which included a relatively weak category. The conclusions of this study are: (1) The critical thinking skills of fifth grade students in learning science are influenced by internal and external factors. Internal factors include student characteristics, reading ability, learning motivation, writing ability, and student habits. External factors include the organization of learning by teachers and habituation carried out by teachers to students. (2) The critical thinking skills of fifth grade students in science learning are relatively weak. (3) Low critical thinking skills are caused by students' low language and reasoning skills.Keywords: Critical Thinking, Elementary School, Language and Reasoning Abilities

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of environmental care character education at SD Darus Sholah Jember, identify the challenges encountered in instilling environmental care character values through applying green school principles, and explain the efforts made to overcome these challenges. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach, utilizing primary and secondary data. Primary data were obtained through interviews with the school principal, teachers, and students in grades III and IV, while secondary data consisted of documents related to environmental care character education. The data collection methods included observation, interviews, and documentation, which were analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion-drawing techniques. Data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The research findings indicate that environmental care character education at SD Darus Sholah Jember is implemented through several measures: (1) curriculum development encompassing self-development programs, integration of environmental care values into subjects, fostering a school culture of environmental care, improving the learning process, and managing school environmental health; (2) challenges faced include students' poor habits in maintaining cleanliness, low awareness of proper waste management, and technical issues such as inadequate water flow; (3) efforts to address these challenges involve providing students with understanding and guidance on maintaining personal hygiene, strengthening interactions between teachers and parents, and establishing collaborations with school alums.

Abstract

 This study aims to analyze the strategies for developing students' talents and interests in the tahfidz program to support character formation at MIN 1 Bondowoso. Using a qualitative approach with a case study method, this research involved the school principal, tahfidz teachers, students, and parents as research subjects. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, and analyzed using a thematic approach. The findings indicate that the main strategies implemented in the tahfidz program include the talqin method, muraja'ah, and motivation based on rewards. These strategies have proven effective in improving students' memorization while simultaneously shaping their discipline, responsibility, and honesty. The responses from teachers (88%) and students (90.74%) reflect high enthusiasm for the program. However, challenges such as the limited number of teachers, minimal supporting facilities, and the lack of flexibility in memorization targets remain obstacles that need to be addressed. This research also found that the development of students' talents and interests has not been optimally integrated into the tahfidz program. Therefore, more inclusive strategies are needed to accommodate students' individual potential while strengthening Islamic character formation. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan strategi yang lebih inklusif untuk mengakomodasi potensi individu siswa sekaligus memperkuat pembentukan karakter islami. Abstract

Differentiated learning is an instructional approach designed to accommodate the diverse abilities, interests, and learning needs of students. This study explores the implementation of differentiated learning to foster 4C (Critical Thinking, Creativity, Collaboration, and Communication) skills in Grade X students during Islamic Education (PAI) lessons at SMK Plus Nurul Ulum Kemungsari Lor Panti Jember. The research specifically examines three aspects: the activities involved in differentiated learning, its relevance in fostering 4C skills, and the outcomes achieved through its application. This qualitative descriptive study employed observation, interviews, and documentation as data collection methods. Data were analyzed using Miles, Huberman, and Saldana’s interactive model, which includes data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data condensation involved selecting, focusing, simplifying, abstracting, and transforming the collected information. The credibility of the findings was ensured through triangulation of techniques and sources. The findings demonstrate that differentiated learning effectively supports the development of 4C skills in students by tailoring the teaching process to their unique needs. This approach not only enhances students’ engagement and learning outcomes but also highlights its relevance as a pedagogical strategy for Islamic Education.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of Quality Assurance (QA) Management using the PPEPP method at SMK Darul Musthofa Assunniyyah Yosowilangun Lumajang to enhance school quality. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach, utilizing interviews, observations, and documentation to gather data from 30 informants, including school principals, teachers, curriculum coordinators, and administrative staff. The study was conducted over three months (January-March 2025). The findings indicate that the PPEPP method has positively impacted the planning and implementation of academic programs, fostering structured management and improving teacher professionalism. However, challenges remain in the evaluation and control phases, particularly in integrating evaluation results into decision-making processes. The lack of digitalization and systematic monitoring mechanisms hinders the effectiveness of QA implementation. Teachers and school administrators recognize the importance of QA but highlight the need for further training and data-driven decision-making. To optimize QA management, the study recommends enhancing digitalization in documentation, strengthening professional development programs for teachers, and integrating technology in quality monitoring. These improvements will ensure that QA is not merely an administrative function but a continuous effort to enhance educational quality. The study contributes valuable insights for school administrators and policymakers in optimizing QA strategies and serves as a reference for future research in educational quality management

Abstract

The Mamaca tradition in Madura is a form of oral literature rooted in local wisdom and Islamic values, representing the cultural assimilation between Islam and pre-Islamic traditions in Nusantara. Initially practiced as a poetic chant akin to the Javanese Macapat, Mamaca evolved into a didactic medium, narrating stories imbued with religious and moral teachings. This study aims to examine Mamaca as a vehicle for Islamic education in the context of Islam Nusantara, particularly its role in preserving local identity amidst globalization and the influx of transnational ideologies. Using a qualitative approach with descriptive-analytical methods, the research employs fieldwork techniques such as observation, documentation, and structured interviews. The study draws on Mark R. Woodward’s theory of cultural Islam, which views Islam in Java and Madura as a syncretic and mystical tradition rooted in Sufism. The findings reveal that Mamaca functions not merely as a folkloric art form but as a means of internalizing Islamic values through narratives, symbols, and performance, especially in pesantren environments. However, challenges such as generational gaps, declining interest, and cultural shifts threaten the survival of this tradition. The study concludes that revitalizing Mamaca as a character education tool aligned with Islam Nusantara’s principles—tolerance, spirituality, and cultural harmony—can reinforce local Islamic identity. Therefore, Mamaca holds strategic potential as an indigenous educational model that aligns with Nahdlatul Ulama’s vision of moderate and contextual Islam.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the values of the Trilogy of Santri - responsibility for fardhu 'ain obligations, honesty in avoiding major sins, and noble character towards God and His creatures - at MI Raudhatul Muta'alimin Jember. Using a qualitative approach with a case study design, this research explores the application of formal, hidden curriculum, and habituation programs in shaping student character. The results show that this integrative approach is effective in increasing students' awareness in carrying out religious obligations (85%), reducing dishonest behavior (decreased from 15% to 3%), and improving social interaction and environmental awareness (90%). This approach is supported by Kohlberg's moral development theory, Lickona's character education, and Gardner's multiple intelligences. This research makes a significant contribution to the development of a character education model based on pesantren values in the formal education system, especially at the primary education level.
