Abstract

This study aims to describe the internalization process of religious moderation values in fostering tolerance among students at SDN 1 Seminyak Badung. The values include national commitment, tolerance, rejection of violence, and respect for local culture. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation. Research subjects consisted of the principal, Islamic education teacher, and fifth- and sixth-grade students. The findings reveal that religious moderation values were internalized through teacher role modeling, curriculum and extracurricular integration, an inclusive school culture, and interreligious group-based learning. These strategies successfully cultivated students’ tolerant attitudes, as reflected in respectful social interactions, acceptance of differences, and participation in interreligious and intercultural activities. The results demonstrate that primary schools play a strategic role in shaping students’ moderate character from an early age. This study also fills a gap in research on religious moderation at the elementary education level.

Abstract

Differentiated learning is an instructional approach designed to accommodate the diverse abilities, interests, and learning needs of students. This study explores the implementation of differentiated learning to foster 4C (Critical Thinking, Creativity, Collaboration, and Communication) skills in Grade X students during Islamic Education (PAI) lessons at SMK Plus Nurul Ulum Kemungsari Lor Panti Jember. The research specifically examines three aspects: the activities involved in differentiated learning, its relevance in fostering 4C skills, and the outcomes achieved through its application. This qualitative descriptive study employed observation, interviews, and documentation as data collection methods. Data were analyzed using Miles, Huberman, and Saldana’s interactive model, which includes data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data condensation involved selecting, focusing, simplifying, abstracting, and transforming the collected information. The credibility of the findings was ensured through triangulation of techniques and sources. The findings demonstrate that differentiated learning effectively supports the development of 4C skills in students by tailoring the teaching process to their unique needs. This approach not only enhances students’ engagement and learning outcomes but also highlights its relevance as a pedagogical strategy for Islamic Education.

Abstract

Learning in elementary school requires active interaction between teachers, students, and learning resources to create meaningful experiences. However, the learning of Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) often remains theoretical, resulting in low motivation and comprehension. This study aims to develop Jumanji Adventure, an interactive educational game, to enhance motivation, interest, and understanding of fifth-grade students on sound material and its properties. The research applies a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, consisting of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and questionnaires involving media experts, material experts, linguists, teachers, and learners. Data analysis combined qualitative techniques (reduction, presentation, conclusion) and quantitative techniques using a Likert scale to assess validity. Findings show that Jumanji Adventure is highly valid, with expert ratings indicating strong quality in media design, content, and language. Classroom implementation demonstrates improved student motivation, engagement, and comprehension, as learners become more enthusiastic, active in discussions, and able to answer questions effectively. Despite the relatively short play duration, which requires repetition to fit time allocation, this media proves suitable as an innovative learning tool. Overall, it fosters interactive, enjoyable learning aligned with the Independent Curriculum.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of the concept of critical education in Fazlur Rahman's thought at MAS Al-Islah Bondowoso and its impact on developing students' critical thinking skills within the context of Islamic education. This topic is significant as critical education plays a vital role in shaping a generation capable of analyzing and understanding Islamic teachings contextually. The research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design, collecting data through interviews, observations, and documentation conducted at the research site. The findings reveal that the implementation of critical education at MAS Al-Islah involves contextual understanding of Islamic teachings and learning methods that encourage discussion and critical analysis. However, challenges such as resistance to traditional teaching methods, time constraints, and limited resources were identified. Despite these challenges, the results show a positive impact of critical education, including improved analytical thinking and communication skills among students. The study concludes that critical education based on Fazlur Rahman's thought significantly contributes to the intellectual development of students and is relevant for broader application in Islamic education.
