Abstract

Nutritional status has a significant influence on the growth and development of children. Poor nutrition during the first 1000 days of life (HPK) can reduce the risk of disease, one of which is stunting, as well as the risk of death, which is around 13% (WHO, 2009). In 2018 the percentages of very short and short toddlers aged 0-59 months were 11.5% and 19.3%, respectively. The magnitude of the risk of stunting for infants and toddlers, it is necessary to hold early detection of stunting as an effort to help increase knowledge that is implemented in monitoring activities for growth and development of infants and toddlers that are more optimal. The activity was carried out on November 18, 2021 with 20 mothers who have babies and toddlers. This group was given counseling, physical examination and early detection of growth and development using the KPSP questionnaire. The results showed that 6.25% of underweight infants and 6.25% of obese infants, 44% of infants and toddlers in the short category, 6% very short, 81% of exclusive breastfeeding, 6% of infants with deviations (smooth motion, socialization and independence) and 6 % of dubious results (rough motion). It is hoped that husbands, families and the community will monitor the growth and development of infants and toddlers to prevent stunting and other growth and development disorders. Health workers should always promote balanced nutrition programs and other stuntin prevention efforts since the preparation for pregnancy (preconception).

Abstract

Stunting is malnutrition in toddlers, especially in the first 1000 days of life, which causes stunted physical growth and susceptibility to disease. Stunting is one of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) targets in the 2nd sustainable development goal with the target set is to reduce the stunting rate by 40% in the year 2025. According to Minister of National Development Planning (2020), Padang is one of cities for integrated stunting reduction interventions in 2021. The highest prevalence of stunting in Padang Selatan District occurred in Seberang Padang Health Center working area, which is 16.4%. In 2021, the prevalence of stunting in the Puskesmas Seberang Padang working area increased to 17.8% of the total 590 toddlers whose height was measured. This study aims to determine the relationship between food consumption diversity and maternal parenting with the incidence of toddlers' stunting in the working area of Puskesmas Seberang Padang. This research was conducted by observational study using cross-sectional design. The study population was all toddlers in Seberang Padang Health Center’s work area with sample of 179 respondents using proportional sampling as sampling technique and collected by questionnaire. The result showed that food consumption diversity (p=0.000), food parenting (p=0.000), hygiene parenting (p=0.026), health parenting (p=0.018) and psychosocial stimulation parenting (p=0.031) have significant relationship with the incidence of stunting. The most dominant factor is food consumption diversity (OR=24,263). The conclusion of this study is that there is significant relationship between the diversity of food consumption, food parenting, hygiene parenting, health parenting and psychosocial stimulation parenting with the incidence of stunting and the most dominant factor is the diversity of food consumption. Keywords: Food consumption diversity, Maternal parenting pattern, Stunting

Abstract

Anemia in pregnancy is one of the priority nutritional problems to be tended to. WHO in 2019 reported Anemia in 40% of pregnant women worldwide; in Indonesia, based on the 2018 Riskesdas was 48.9%, and in West Sumatra and Padang City, 18.10% and 17.70%. One of the causes of Anemia was a low intake of vitamins B12 and E. This study aimed to determine if serum ferritin levels and vitamin B12 and E consumption were correlated with those of third-trimester pregnant women. This analytical cross-sectional study was done from April to July 2022 at Lubuk Kilangan Public Health Center and Andalas University's Biomedical Laboratory. The population was 64 third-trimester pregnant women, and 42 samples were used using proportional stratified random and simple random sampling. A SQ-FFQ (Semi-Quantitative Food Frequency Questionnaire) and Human ferritin kit DBC (Diagnostics Biochem Canada) examined by ELISA (Enzymed-Linked Immunosorbent Assays) were the instruments. The average of Vitamin B12 and vitamin E consumption daily was 7.71 µg and 5.87 mg, and serum ferritin was 10.53 µg/L. Serum ferritin levels were linked with vitamin B12 (r=0.879; p=0.001) and vitamin E (r=0.455; p=0.002) intake. Enough intake of vitamin B12 and vitamin E will lead to ideal serum ferritin levels.

Abstract

Blunt trauma without visible skin damage is a common type of violence encountered in physical assault cases. Statistically, at RS Bhayangkara Pekanbaru, 341 cases of blunt trauma without skin damage were reported out of a total of 6,255 assault cases from 2015 to 2020. These cases present a challenge for doctors in finding physical evidence of trauma to document in medicolegal reports (Visum et Repertum). This study aims to analyze the histopathological differences, including erythrocyte extravasation, neutrophil and monocyte cell infiltration, and tissue edema, between groups subjected to blunt trauma without skin damage and a control group. Using a post-test-only group design, this study involved 30 Rattus norvegicus samples divided into three groups: control, intervention group 1, and intervention group 2. The intervention involved a 324-gram load dropped from a height of 45 cm onto the surface of the rats' skin. Histopathological examination revealed no significant differences in erythrocyte extravasation, neutrophil infiltration, or monocyte infiltration, while a significant difference was observed in tissue edema levels.
