Abstract

This activity aims to introduce local plants, especially duku mistletoe leaves (Dendrophthoe pentandra), as a natural ingredient in the formulation of cosmetic preparations, especially moisturizers, to generation Z. This activity was carried out at Galang Insan Mandiri Vocational School and aims to provide education about the benefits of duku mistletoe leaves as a skin barrier protective agent. With increasing awareness of the importance of sustainability and the use of natural ingredients, it is hoped that this education can encourage the younger generation to prefer local products that are not only safe for skin health but also support the local economy. The outreach methods used include seminars and interactive discussions, which are expected to increase students' knowledge about natural ingredient-based skin care. It is hoped that the results of this activity can make a positive contribution to the development of the natural ingredient-based cosmetics industry in Indonesia.

Abstract

Stamina is the ability of human endurance to withstand fatigue within a certain time limit, where activities are carried out with high intensity and always use energy that can be treated with traditional medicine derived from plants. One example of plants that can increase stamina is tiger gagatan leaves which contain flavonoids that can increase the motor activity of mice by inhibiting the absorption of calcium ions entering the sarcoplasmic reticulum after that with the obstacle causing high calcium ion levels in sarcoplasm and containing tonic effects. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of giving tiger gagatan leaf extract in increasing stamina compared to caffeine. This research was conducted by experimental method, samples were extracted maceration using 96% ethanol solvent and concentrated with a rotary evaporator. Using 25 mice and divided into 5 groups. The control group was negative CMC-Na 0.5%, the control group positive for caffeine 0.13mg/kgBB, EDGH with a dose of 50mg/kgBB, EDGH with a dose of 100mg/kgBB, EDGH with a dose of 200mg/kgBB. Then observed the endurance time of mouse stamina and calculated the average physical endurance time of mice by swimming method. From the results of the study that the EDGH dose of 200mg/kgBB had optimal effectiveness close to the positive control group with swimming endurance time of 52.18 minutes, while EDGH with a dose of 100mg / kggBB showed a physical endurance time of mice of 49.07 minutes, and EDGH 50mg / kg BB showed a physical endurance time of mice of 48.24 minutes. So it can be concluded that tiger gagatan leaf extract at a dose of 200mg/kgBB has an effectiveness equivalent to caffeine in increasing stamina against male white mice.

Abstract

The skin needs antioxidant compounds that can ward off free radicals caused by several factors, one of which is air pollution. Bidara leaves (Zizipus spina Cristi (L) Desf) and benalu duku leaves (Dendrophthoe pentandra (L.) Miq) contain flavonoid compounds that function as antioxidants that can ward off free radicals. This study aims to formulate bidara leaf extract and benalu duku leaf into the form of Facemist preparation and determine the best Facemist product formula with the addition of bidara leaf extract, benalu leaf, and a combination of two extracts through antioxidant activity parameters. The antioxidant activity test was carried out using the DPPH (1,1-dipenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) method. The Facemist sample was formulated into a Facemist with concentration variations: F1 : EEDB 5%, F2 : EEDBD : 5%, F3 : EEDB : 2.5% EEDBD 2.5%, F4 : EEDB : 5% EEDBD : 5%, F5 : EEDB : 10% EEDBD : 10%. Facemist preparations are eval_uated for their physical characteristics, namely organoleptic test, homogeneity test, pH test, viscosity test, dry time test, irritation test. The results showed that Facemist was a combination of bidara leaf extract and benalu duku leaf homogeneous, pH <7, had a viscosity value of <500 cps, a good drying time of <5 minutes and did not cause irritation to the skin. The formulation of Facemist preparation that has the best antioxidant activity value is F5 with antioxidant activity (IC50) of 58.33 ppm in the strong category.
