Abstract

Signature genuine verifications of offline hand-written signatures are critical for preventing forgery and fraud. With the growth of protecting personal identity and preventing fraud, the demand for an automatic system for signature verification is high. The signature verification system is then studied by many researchers using various methods, especially deep learning-based methods. Hence, deep learning has a problem. Deep learning requires much training time for the data to obtain the best model accuracy result. Therefore, this paper proposed a CNN Batch Normalization, the CNN architectural adaptation model with a normalization batch number added, to obtain a CNN model optimization with high accuracy and less training time for offline hand-written signature verification. We compare CNN with our proposed model in the experiments. The research method in this study is data collection, pre-processing, and testing using our private signature dataset (collected by capturing signature images using a smartphone), which becomes the difficulties of our study because of the different lighting, media, and pen used to sign. Experiment results show that our model ranks first, with a training accuracy of 88.89%, an accuracy validation of 75.93%, and a testing accuracy of 84.84%—also, the result of 2638.63 s for the training time consumed with CPU usage. The model evaluation results show that our model has a smaller EER value; 2.583, with FAR = 0.333 and FRR = 4.833. Although the results of our proposed model are better than basic CNN, it is still low and overfitted. It has to be enhanced by better pre-processing steps using another augmentation method required to improve dataset quality.

Abstract

Endemic diseases are health problems that require continuous monitoring to prevent their spread. However, the lack of interactive spatial data visualization can make it difficult for health agencies to analyze the distribution of diseases effectively. This study aims to build a spatial mapping system for endemic diseases in Lamongan Regency using the Natural Breaks clustering method. The data used in this study include sub-district data, population, and endemic diseases obtained from the Lamongan Regency health profile website. The system was developed using the Laravel 10 framework and MySQL database, with Metabase as a data visualization tool. The geovisualization method is applied to display the distribution of diseases in the form of interactive maps based on sub-districts. The system allows users to trace the spatial and temporal trends of endemic diseases more easily. The test results show that the system is able to display information accurately and interactively, so that it can help health agencies in monitoring and planning regional health policies more effectively

Abstract

One of the problems in the Internet of Things (IoT) system is the Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack on the information technology infrastructure on the Internet network. This is because the IoT device system does not have a portal gateway configuration that is capable of providing the necessary security and privacy protection. In this study, the focus is on the mechanism for reducing the impact of DDoS attacks of the http flood type on the layer framework using PHP Swoole. PHP Swoole utilizes event-driven which provides several features to access the transport layer in onConnect so that it can be used to implement initial security such as access control lists, connection concurrency management, and optimizing server performance. The methodology used is to develop a TCP connection filtering algorithm by implementing a simple queue system by accepting 67% of connections to be forwarded to the next layer and 33% of connections will be queued for a timeout of 2 seconds. The results of this study show that the server can minimize the impact of DDoS and handle traffic specifically for http requests with an average latency of 871.8ms.

Abstract

Digital transformation in the public sector has encouraged the development of queuing systems that not only organize service flows but also provide faster and more accurate access to information for citizens. Gebang Putih Urban Village, a community partner of the Electronic Engineering Polytechnic Institute of Surabaya (PENS), implemented a digital queuing system based on Android and web platforms in 2024; however, the system still had limitations in terms of responsiveness and communication channels with citizens. This community service activity focuses on the technical optimization of the queuing system by integrating a chat-based interaction feature into the mobile application and simplifying the queue number retrieval flow through conversational interaction. The system was developed using a User-centered design (UCD) approach, with key stages including needs analysis based on the evaluation of the previous system, design of a new system architecture, implementation of chat integration, and internal testing with urban village officers as key users. The optimization results cover three main technical aspects: (1) integration of the chat service module into the mobile application without modifying the core queuing logic, (2) a queue number retrieval feature via chat that is directly connected to the digital queuing module, and (3) a two-way chat channel between citizens and officers facilitated through a web-based dashboard. Internal trials indicate improvements in service workflows, reduced face-to-face interactions for simple inquiries, and increased staff understanding of how to use the digital system. From a community engagement perspective, this work represents a development and capacity-building phase that strengthens officers’ ability to manage technology-based services and provides a technical foundation that is ready to be disseminated and replicated in other urban villages with minimal adaptation.
