Abstract

Colletotrichum sp. is an important pathogen causing anthracnose in chili peppers. Anthracnose can cause yield losses of up to 90%. The control method commonly used by farmers is chemical control, but this method is not environmentally friendly. Endophytic fungi can be isolated from various plants, both cultivated plants and wild plants or weeds. Moringa is a plant that grows well in Southeast Sulawesi and is a vegetable that has excellent benefits due to its high nutritional content and potential as a biological agent. This study aimed to obtain endophytic fungi from moringa that have the potential to inhibit the growth of the pathogenic fungus Colletotrichum sp. in vitro. The research began with the exploration of endophytic fungi from moringa plant tissues. Subsequently, pathogenicity tests, inhibition tests using the dual culture method, and inhibition tests using the volatile compound method were conducted. The results showed that there were 3 (three) isolates of endophytic fungi from moringa that have potential as biological control agents for Colletotrichum sp., namely isolates ED02, EB01, and EB02. Isolate ED02 was the best biological agent for controlling Colletotrichum sp. in vitro, with dual culture inhibition and volatile compound inhibition percentages of 74.10% and 37.45%.

Abstract

The research aimed to know biochemical characters of rhizobacteria from broadleaf weed that are potential as deleterious rhizobacteria. The research was conducted at Agronomy Laboratory   of Agriculture Faculty   Halu Oleo University Kendari from January until March 2013. The results showed that   9 of 10 rhizobacteria isolates tested from broadleaf   weeds   rhizosphere   had   the   ability   to   solubilize   phosphate   with   different diameters. For nitrogen fixation ability, all isolates tested were potential but only isolates of ML-01 and KL-06 had high capability. All isolates had different ability to produce IAA, with isolates of   KL-06 produced higher concentration of   IAA (33,07 ppm) compared to other isolates. Isolates that had the ability to produce HCN  were isolates BL-07, with filter paper change from yellow to dark brown, and BL-08 and BL-03 light brown color changes indicated to that the production of  HCN  was increased. Result of research showed that some isolates tested had biochemical character as deleterious rhizobacteria by  the ability to solubilize phosphate, fix nitrogen, produce IAA and HCN. Keywords: biochemical characterization, rhizobacteria, broadleaf weeds, deleterious.

Abstract

Burn disease caused by the fungus Ustilago scitaminea is an airborne pathogen whose spores can be carried by the wind, agricultural tools and people who wear the clothes they wear. The use of resistant varieties is a fairly effective control in controlling smut disease in sugarcane. This study aims to determine the resistance response of sugarcane varieties to smut disease on sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum L.). This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Plant Protection, Phytopathology Unit, Faculty of Agriculture and the Green House of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Halu Oleo, Kendari. The research design used a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 4 varietal treatments namely the Kidang Kencana variety (V1), the Bululawang variety (V2), the green sugarcane cultivar (V3) and the red sugarcane cultivar (V4). The results of this study indicated that disease incidence and disease severity had no significant effect at all observation times (7, 14, 21, 28, and 35 DAP). The longest incubation period with the incidence and severity of the disease was 0% in the V1 and V2 treatments.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the resistance of sorghum cultivars to wilt fusarium. This research was arranged in a randomized block design, with six  treatments [brown  sorghum, white sorghum and  red  sorghum with no inoculation fusarium, brown    sorghum, white sorghum  and  red  sorghum with  inoculation  fusarium]  with  3  (three)  replications. Data observed were plant height, leaf number, leaf area, and heaviest of grain weight for vegetative observation, while for disease character was disease incidence. The results showed that none of sorghum cultivars evaluated showed resistance to wilt fusarium infection. The tolerant response to wilt fusarium  was observed on brown sorghum, whereas red and white sorghum were  susceptible to wilt fusarium. The heaviest of  grain weight was found in brown sorghum (27.86 g/penicle). The wilt fusarium caused disease incidences ranging from 33.33% (brown sorghum)  to 50% (red sorghum). Keywords: cultivars, disease incidence, fusarium, sorghum, resistance

Abstract

This study aimed to determine differences in the morphological characteristics of isolates of Trichoderma spp indigenous of Southeast Sulawesi. The experiment was conducted at the Laboratory of Agro Technology, Unit of Plant Pest and Disease, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Halu Oleo, Kendari.  This study used 11 isolates of trichoderm indegenous of Southeast Sulawesi. Observation variables were macroscopic characteristics, including: colony color and form, and microscopic characteristics, including: form of conidiophores, fialid and and conidia.  The research results showed that the 11 isolates of Trichoderma spp indigenous of Southeast Sulawesi had different morphological characteristics. Types of  Trichoderma spp obtained out of the 11 isolates were T. hamantum, T. koningii, T. harzianum, T. polysporum and T. aureoviride. Abstract

This Community Service Program has been implemented in Kambu Village, Kambu District, Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi, with the target audience, especially the Housewife Group. Like other areas near the sea coast, problems with the availability of clean water and pollution of water sources often occur, including those often faced by the community in Kambu Village, Kendari. The solution and target offered was to carry out outreach and technical guidance as well as a demonstration of developing a simple water purification system, using natural coagulants from plants or plant residues and other local resources, which can be easily obtained in our environment, including Moringa oleifera seed powder or banana peels, as an alternative source of organic coagulant for absorption, agglomerates and neutralizes the surface tension of mud particles and heavy metals contained in waste substances. This service activity was carried out through method stages: socialization (technical guidance and discussion), demonstration and application of appropriate technology for water purification based on local resources, as well as mentoring. This service activity was carried out by actively empowering the target group through outreach activities, demonstrations and technical guidance. The results of service activities showed: 1) the importance of establishing work programs and implementing science and technology that were in accordance with the needs and conditions that exist in the target community; 2) the implemented work program received a very good response, response and attention from the community and local government officials; 3) the community was greatly helped and gains additional knowledge and skills by implementing appropriate technological innovations; 4) with this service program the relationship between higher education institutions as a source of knowledge with the community and local government improved

Abstract

The effectiveness of developing small and medium enterprises in the view of sharia law in Aceh is an important topic in regional economic development. Based on research conducted, there are several factors that threaten the effectiveness of small and medium enterprise development in Aceh, such as difficult access to capital sources, minimal product innovation, less than optimal marketing, and inadequate workforce. The aim of this research is to determine and explain the development of small and medium enterprises from the perspective of sharia law in Aceh. The type of research used in this research is field research with a descriptive qualitative approach, to obtain data using interview and observation techniques, then the collected data is analyzed by data reduction, data analysis and drawing conclusions. The results show that the effectiveness of developing small and medium enterprises in the view of sharia law in Aceh relating to the provision of sharia financing capital shows that sharia microfinancing can help increase the productivity and income of small and medium enterprises and sharia microfinancing can help increase capital, turnover and profits of small businesses medium in Aceh so that sharia microfinancing can be an effective tool in developing micro, small and medium enterprises in Aceh and can reduce poverty and prevent unemployment.

Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh berbagai kerapatan deleterious rizobakter Pseudomonas aeruginosa A08) sebagai bioherbisida dan pemacu pertumbuhan tanaman kedelai (Glycine max L. Merril). Penelitian dilaksanakan di Desa Jati Bali, Kecamatan Ranomeeto Barat, Kabupaten Konawe Selatan, Provinsi Sulawesi Tenggara. Penelitian secara eksperimen dengan rancangan acak kelompok (RAK), terdiri dari empat taraf yaitu tanpa bakteri (B0), OD 1 (B1), 1,5 (B2) dan 2 (B3), masing-masing dengan empat ulangan. Data dianalisis dengan Anova dan perbedaan antar perlakuan diuji dengan BNJ dengan taraf kepercayaan 95%. Deleterious rizobakteri P. aeruginosa A08 dalam berbagai kepadatan memberi pengaruh yang nyata dalam menekan pertumbuhan gulma dan memacu pertumbuhan tanaman kedelai. Perlakuan terbaik dalam menekan pertumbuhan gulma dipertanaman kedelai diperoleh pada perlakuan B3 (P. aeruginosa A08 OD 2). Sementara Perlakuan terbaik dalam memacu pertumbuhan kedelai diperoleh pada perlakuan B2 (P. aeruginosa A08 OD 1,5) dan B3 (P. aeruginosa A08 OD 2) dibandingkan dengan perlakuan lain dan kontrol.

Abstract

The concept of organic farming based on local wisdom to realize the healthy living community movement program is very important to be implemented by referring to the concept of environmentally friendly and sustainable agriculture. One of the wastes that does not get attention to be managed properly is agricultural waste. Unprocessed agricultural waste will become a source of environmental pollution, a source of disease, and disrupt ecological cleanliness. Therefore, agrarian waste needs to be managed properly so that it can provide benefits to the lives of the community in general and farmers in particular. This community-based empowerment activity aims to assist and train the Manggarai Women Farmers Group in making eco-enzymes from agricultural waste as liquid organic fertilizers. Training and assistance activities are carried out with stages of socialization, training and assistance, application of technology, monitoring, and evaluation. The results of the activity show that there has been a change in the mindset of the members of the Manggarai Women Farmers group to utilize agricultural waste as a material for making eco-enzymes as organic fertilizers in plant cultivation.

Abstract

Permasalahan utama yang dihadapi oleh masyarakat pada umumnya dan khususnya kelompok Wanita Tani Manggarai adalah minimnya keterampilan dan pengetahuan untuk mengolah limbah menjadi eco-enzyme sebagai pupuk organik dan pestisida. Salah satu limbah yang belum mendapatkan perhatian untuk dikelola dengan baik adalah limbah pertanian. Limbah pertanian yang tidak diolah akan menjadi sumber pencemaran lingkungan, sumber penyakit dan mengganggu kebersihan lingkungan. Oleh karana itu, limbah pertanian perlu dikelola dengan baik sehingga dapat memberikan manfaat bagi kehidupan masyarakat secara umum dan khususnya bagi petani. Tujuan kegiatan pemberdayaan berbasis masyarakat ini adalah untuk melakukan edukasi dan pelatihan kepada Kelompok Wanita Tani Manggarai dalam membuat eco-enzyme dari limbah pertanian sebagai pupuk organik dan pestisida nabati. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan yaitu sosialisasi, pelatihan dan pendampingan serta diskusi secara terbuka antara pemateri dengan peserta. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa kelompok Wanita Tani Manggarai memiliki pengetahuan dan keterampilan untuk membuat eco-enzyme dari limbnah pertanian sebagai pupuk organik dan pestisida.
