Abstract

Globalization makes the world seem to have no boundaries anymore, brings big changes for Indonesian youth, namely global values that are incompatible with the superior values of the Indonesian people. scientifically qualified, but also has superior character and away from deviant behaviors that are not following the values of Islam. This research aimed to see whether the mentoring program was effective in increasing the sunnah worship rituals for students. The method used was a pre-experimental design with a pre-test-post-test one group design. The sampling technique used in this study was purposive sampling, by determining certain criteria that had been determined by researchers. The subjects were 48 female students from the Faculty of Psychology, Muhammdiyah Surakarta University. The results of this study stated that the mentoring program was not effective to improve the psychology rituals of female students. However, these results need to be interpreted carefully. There are some factors which likely to cause this condition: 1) mentoring activities that have not been optimal, both regarding the material, delivery methods and the role of the mentor. 2) behavioral change targets, namely ritual worship, 3) other outside variables that are influential but not yet controlled.

Abstract

Caring for a child with cancer can cause profound psychological and emotional stress for mothers. Spiritual coping is often used as a strategy to manage such challenges. This research aims to describe how Muslim mothers employ spiritual coping while caring for children with cancer. A descriptive qualitative approach was used. The informants were three muslim mothers who had cared for, or were currently caring for, children with cancer. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews in the area formerly known as Surakarta Residency and analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model. Credibility was ensured through member checking, and transferability was supported by detailed description techniques. The results indicated that the informants engaged in spiritual coping by relying on Allah in three domains: behavioral practices, emotional regulation, and cognitive reframing. Family encouragement and religious beliefs influenced their choice of coping strategies. These findings suggest that incorporating spiritual coping approaches into psychosocial interventions may help mothers achieve greater inner peace in facing the challenges of childhood cancer.

Abstract

Competitive sports involve complex dynamics and high pressure that can trigger anxiety, including among soccer players who have already competed at Dormitory X. Excessive anxiety has the potential to interfere with athletes' performance. This study aims to explore pre-match and in-match anxiety among soccer players, identify its causes, and determine the sources of anxiety experienced. Participants consisted of four main subjects (soccer athletes aged 12–17 years residing at Dormitory X) and two supporting subjects (coaches familiar with the athletes). Subjects were selected using purposive sampling with criteria including anxiety experience and involvement in matches in 2024. The research approach used was qualitative narrative, with data collection methods including interviews, observations, and documentation, analyzed using Miles and Huberman's analysis technique. The results showed that athletes experienced anxiety before and during matches, stemming from internal factors (such as self-doubt) and external factors (such as pressure from expectations). The anxiety management strategies used included thought regulation, behavior control, breathing techniques, and support from Asrama X through competition preparation and joint spiritual activities such as night prayers and reading the holy book (the Qur'an or the Bible). These strategies proved effective in reducing anxiety, as reflected in the athletes' achievements in the competition.
