Abstract

Introduction: Dengue fever is endemic in over 100 countries, Africa, America, and several other European countries. Indonesia became the top of the list a few years ago. The study aimed to analyze risk factors (hanging clothes, water reservoir conditions, and jumantik cadres) with the incidence of DHF. Methods: This is quantitative research with meta-analysis. Meta-analysis has four stages: data abstraction, data analysis using JASP Version 0.18.3, and publication bias test. Conduct heterogeneity tests, funnel plots, egger tests, and forest plots. Results and Discussion: The heterogeneity test of hanging clothes and water reservoirs using a random effects model because p-value smaller than 0.05. Jumantik cadre using the fixed effects model is larger than p < 0.001 i.e. p = 0.303. The forest plot of hanging clothes has pooled value PR=e0.26 = 1.297 (95% CI -0.05-0.57), pooled water reservoir value PR= e0.55 = 1.73 (95% CI 0.30 - 0.79), and jumantik cadre pooled value OR= e0.70= 2.01 (95% CI 0.24 - 1.33). The highest risk factor for dengue cases is jumantik cadres with the pooled value obtained PR = e0.70 = 2.01 (95% CI 0.24 – 1.33). Conclusion: Based on the results of the meta-analysis in this study, jumantik cadres has the greatest risk factor value compared to other variables. The second highest risk factor was in water reservoirs, followed by the next variable hanging clothes.

Abstract

Skin diseases such as scabies continue to pose significant health issues within pesantren (Islamic boarding schools) due to inadequate sanitation and low awareness among students regarding personal higiene. Scabies is highly contagious, transmitted through direct contact and the sharing of personal items. Therefore, there is a need for interventions, specifically educational programs, to enhance knowledge and awareness about sanitation and the prevention of scabies in pesantren. This activity aims to improve students understanding of environmental sanitation, personal higiene, and the prevention and control of scabies through educational outreach activities. This initiative was conducted using outreach and practical training methods for students at Pondok Pesantren Al Amin, Lamongan. Evaluation involved pre-tests and post-tests, comparing the results to measure the increase in participants' knowledge. The results was a noticeable improvement in students' knowledge, with the average score increasing from 84.1% on the pre-test to 91.6% on the post-test concerning personal higiene and environmental sanitation at the pesantren (p-value = 0.000). This educational activity successfully enhanced students' understanding of sanitation and health in the pesantren setting. Further approaches are necessary for the prevention and transmission of scabies.

Abstract

Waste is a classic problem for developing countries like Indonesia. Coastal areas are one of the areas that most vulnerable to environmental problems, especially those related to plastic waste. This community service activity aims to increase community knowledge about the importance of waste management and encourage them to turn waste into handicraft products that have economic value. This community service activity is in partnership with the community in the Keputih coastal area and local community leaders in RT VII RW VIII Keputih. The method used is to provide counseling, training and assistance to the community. Evaluation of activities is carried out by assessing: 1) knowledge about waste (inorganic and organic that is difficult to decompose) through pre-test and post-test regarding educational materials, 2) assessment of the ability to practice waste management (crafting) and 3) Impact of activities is carried out by reviewing Has waste management been implemented from households to TPS? The education and assistance on waste management, including sorting and making handicrafts from waste, has been successful with 3 indicators achieved, namely the presence of the community in counseling (80%), 65% of the target community has increased their knowledge, and 75% of the target community has sorted waste and made crafts from plastic waste. It is hoped that community service activities can be sustainable, such as providing education to target communities regarding how to sell handicrafts made from waste, and collaborating with other parties that can improve the branding of handicraft products.

Abstract

The dengue virus is the cause of dengue hemorrhagic fever, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).Dengue fever is called “breakbone fever” (joint fever) because it causes severe pain as if a bone is broken. The purpose of this case-control observational study was to identify the DHF risk variables and distribution pattern. The sample size was 1:1 with 22 cases and 22 controls. Analysis of distribution patterns used average nearest neighbor and overlay. Risk factors and incidence were analyzed Chi-square is used for both univariate and bivariate analysis with a 95% confidence level (α = 0.05). With a p-value of 0.0<0.05, the findings indicated a correlation between the occurrence of DHF and the removal of mosquito nests. Furthermore, a p-value of 0.01<0.05 indicated a correlation between the incidence of DHF and the gauze installation. The pattern of population distribution is seen from the distribution pattern, population density comparison, and buffering. The abstract will be revised to include a brief explanation about dengue fever control efforts, such as the 3M Plus mosquito nest eradication (PSN) activities and the installation of gauze on ventilation, which were analyzed as part of the study variables influencing DHF incidence.

Abstract

The implementation of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) is essential in preventing food contamination caused by biological, physical, or chemical hazards that may pose risks to human health. This study aims to describe the implementation of GMP in Kampung Lontong Surabaya. The research employed a descriptive observational design, which seeks to illustrate existing conditions without administering any interventions to the observed objects. Data were collected using questionnaires and observation checklists. The data were analyzed descriptively through tabulation. The implementation of GMP during the lontong production process was found to have several critical control points, as the production environment presented a relatively high risk of contamination. Overall, the food production practices in Kampung Lontong have not yet fully adopted GMP standards. It is recommended that producers place greater emphasis on personal hygiene and food sanitation, beginning with proper washing of raw ingredients and continuing through to the transportation of finished food products.
