Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to determine the effect of Field Work Practice (PKL) on work readiness and career motivation of vocational high school students. The high unemployment rate among vocational high school graduates indicates a gap between graduate competencies and the demands of the world of work. Therefore, increasing work readiness and career motivation is crucial in bridging the gap and preparing students to face the world of work optimally.Methodology: This study uses a quantitative approach with a causal design. The sample consisted of 78 grade XII students of the Motorcycle Engineering Department at SMK PGRI 5 Jember who were selected through purposive sampling techniques. Data were collected using a validated Likert scale questionnaire, covering indicators of field work practice implementation, work readiness, and career motivation. Data analysis was performed using simple linear regression.Findings: The results of the study showed that field work practice had a positive and significant influence on work readiness (p < 0.001; t = 8.366) and students' career motivation (p = 0.002; t = 3.772). These findings indicate that direct involvement in the world of work during field work practice contributes to increasing technical competence, mental readiness to face the challenges of the world of work, and strengthening students' orientation and enthusiasm in planning their future careers.Contribution: This study shows that fieldwork practice is an effective strategy to simultaneously improve work readiness and career motivation of vocational high school students. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the implementation structure of fieldwork practice and closer collaboration between schools and the industrial world. These findings can be the basis for developing more relevant and adaptive vocational curriculum and vocational education policies. In addition to providing technical skills, fieldwork practice also plays a role in developing 21st century competencies.

Abstract

Purpose - This research study aims to develop, test, and evaluate STEM animated science learning videos about the characteristics of living things for children in the lower elementary school. The purpose of this media is to convey scientific ideas and increase student participation through more meaningful, interactive presentations.Methodology – The research and development (R&D) approach to this study followed the ADDIE model. This was a small-scale study involving 15 third graders at SDN Mulyoagung 01 Dau, Malang Regency. The learning included guided viewing of STEM-based animated videos, small-group activities using STEM-related worksheets (LKPD), and individual assessment. Information was collected using professional validation tools, student response questionnaires, classroom observations, group worksheets, and individual evaluation outcomes, and measures were conducted in both descriptive and quantitative, as well as qualitative, ways.Findings – Based on assessments by subject matter and media experts, the STEM-based animated video has a very high level of feasibility (M = 84%). With a gain score of 0.84, limited trials show an increase in students' conceptual understanding. According to student responses, 86.7% found this media interesting, easy to understand, and helpful for visualizing the characteristics of living things. As a result, STEM-based animated videos have proven useful as an alternative for science instruction in lower grades.Contribution – This study contributes to the creation of digital learning resources that incorporate STEM methods in elementary school science education. It also offers a media development model to help teachers and researchers improve students' science literacy from an early stage of education.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to develop an innovative learning medium, KOPDAS (Smart Comic Puzzle), as a literacy tool based on read-aloud activities to foster reading interest among elementary school students and to examine its effectiveness. The background of this research stems from students' low interest in reading, driven by the lack of engaging learning media and the underutilization of reading corners in schools.Methodology – The study employs the Research and Development (R&D) method, using the ADDIE development model (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate). The research subjects include material experts, media experts, and second-grade students at SD Negeri Maron Kulon 1 in Probolinggo Regency. Data were collected through observation, interviews, validation questionnaires, and product trials, with pre-tests and post-tests.Findings – KOPDAS is effective at enhancing students' reading interest. This medium combines comic visuals with puzzle-solving activities featuring Pancasila symbols, thereby increasing active participation, concentration, and comprehension of reading content. The use of read-aloud techniques also helps improve understanding, pronunciation, and students' confidence in reading. The development of KOPDAS is expected to serve as a reference for the innovation of literacy learning media, creating a fun, communicative, and interactive learning atmosphere.Contribution – This research contributes to the development of an innovative literacy medium, KOPDAS (Smart Comic Puzzle), designed using the read-aloud approach to enhance elementary students' interest and reading habits. The medium integrates the visual and interactive elements of comics and puzzles while strengthening foundational literacy skills through engaging read-aloud activities. Furthermore, this study makes a practical contribution to teachers by offering an alternative literacy learning medium that is creative, appealing, and well-suited to the learning characteristics of young learners.
