Abstract

The research assesses the structural integrity of a semi-submersible monohull glass-bottom vessel designed for tourism, featuring a hull length of 9 meters. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) was employed to simulate five loading scenarios: full load, 75% capacity, 50% capacity, 25% capacity, and no load. The ship's structural basis was designated as the boundary condition. The peak equivalent stress under full load was 297.58 MPa, with validated values at 293.93 MPa. Additional scenarios demonstrated comparable concordance between FEA simulations and validations, with stress values spanning from 296.85 to 297.4 MPa and validation results ranging from 293.4 to 293.79 MPa. All calculated safety factors surpassed 2.25, guaranteeing adherence to SOLAS Chapter II-1 rules. The results validate that the ship's hull design complies with structural integrity norms under operational loads, instilling confidence in its performance for tourism purposes.

Abstract

Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) are Indonesian citizens working abroad. To meet economic needs, many Indonesian citizens choose to work abroad. The problem found in this service activity is that working abroad has many consequences, one of which is being away from family. However, if they return to Indonesia, Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) have concerns about the skills they have to work in Indonesia. For this reason, the solution offered to partner problems is socialization related to digitalization of entrepreneurship through the use of social media, as well as ways to market business products. The purpose of this activity is to increase PMI's capacity as a provision for preparation to make a living after the employment contract in Korea has ended. Thus, PMI can work in Indonesia and be close to family. The method of implementing the activity is to provide socialization with the target to the Indonesian Student Association (PPI) and Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) in Korea. The result of this service activity is an increase in knowledge, skills, and motivation from the participants, namely PPI and PMI. In addition, it also received a positive response from all participants. This socialization activity is expected to be carried out to Indonesian migrant workers in other countries.

Abstract

The lack of proper tourism infrastructure often limits the potential of marine ecotourism. In Karimunjawa, coral reef tourism is a major attraction. However, accessibility remains an issue, especially for visitors who cannot swim or dive. This research focuses on the design and construction of a glass-bottom leisure boat prototype to provide a safe and immersive underwater panorama experience. This study falls within naval architecture and marine engineering, addressing the challenge of designing a stable, efficient, and safe tourism vessel. A key concern in ship design is balancing hydrodynamic efficiency with stability. While monohull boats are common, their transverse stability is relatively low. To overcome this, a catamaran hull configuration was chosen for better stability, larger deck space, and reduced resistance. The prototype was constructed with dimensions of 21.81 m in length, 2.63 m in height, and 7.51 m in width, featuring a glass-bottom viewing area to enhance the tourism experience. Hydrodynamic performance analysis showed an average increase in resistance of 12.39307 N as speed increased, demonstrating the vessel’s efficiency. The construction and testing process confirmed that the catamaran hull improves passenger safety, minimizes capsizing risk, and enhances the underwater viewing experience. This research contributes to sustainable marine tourism by introducing an innovative tourism ride that allows visitors to explore the underwater beauty of Karimunjawa without requiring diving skills. The successful design and construction of this prototype provide a model for future eco-aafriendly tourism vessels.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) make a significant contribution to economic growth, job creation, community empowerment, and the reduction of economic inequality. By 2023, MSMEs' contribution to Indonesia's GDP is projected to reach 61%, equivalent to IDR 9,580 trillion. The MSME sector absorbs 97% of the national workforce, representing approximately 117 million workers. The number of MSMEs also continues to grow each year, reaching 66 million in 2023, an increase from 65 million in 2022 (KADIN). MSME mentoring is a concrete step in supporting national aspirations, including increasing quality employment, encouraging entrepreneurship, developing creative industries, and supporting infrastructure development. In alignment with the SDGs, this PKM activity helps increase village community income and reduce income disparity. Additionally, MSMEs can apply appropriate technology (TTG) developed through university innovations. In this PKM program, the university’s IKU achievements for students and lecturers relate to IKU 2 and IKU 5, aligning with RIRN in the food sector concerning MSME empowerment for local food processing through TTG. The mentoring provides tangible benefits, with Appropriate Technology such as the Automatic Grinding Machine and Automatic Proofer Machine, resulting in a production increase to 500 Mocaf bolen per day from the original 350, reflecting a 42.86% rise. Furthermore, product diversification training was conducted by processing Mocaf flour into higher-value products such as Bolen Mocaf cookies and Mocaf Banana Bread. Digital marketing and business website mentoring were also implemented to strengthen promotional media, enabling products to access broader and potentially global markets

Abstract

After Indonesia became a signatory to the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) in 1994, Indonesia already had regulations that became the legal basis for the protection of patents, copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, integrated circuit layout designs, industrial designs, plant variety protection, and geographical indications. In Indonesia, of all the types of IP that have been written, only a few types of IP are quite popular, namely patents, copyrights, and trademarks. Based on the theory of legal awareness stated by Soerjono Soekamto, if someone knows a regulation then it is included in the category of having knowledge only. In fact, for each regulation, the community does not only stop at the level of knowledge but also the level of understanding, attitudes, and behavior to be able to know their legal awareness. In relation to IP regulations, the community (in relation to this community service activity, those who have the potential to own IP, namely Teachers and Students) is expected not only to stop at the level of knowledge but also at the level of behavior (in this case the expected behavior is, at least to record and/or register the IP they own). With the three pillars of IP stipulated, namely registration/recording, commercialization, and protection. IP regulations in Indonesia stipulate that IP that can be protected is IP that has been registered with the DJKI. In connection with the relative lack of understanding of high school/vocational school teachers and students in Semarang City related to the focus and three pillars of IP, it is urgent for the UNNES academic community to contribute significantly as a facilitator to improve the understanding of IP protection with a focus on Copyright for high school and vocational school teachers in Semarang City by conducting workshops and facilitating IP recording/registration.

Abstract

This community service is an implementation of science in the field of Design / Engineering, especially 3D object design. The Indonesian creative industry sees great opportunities with 3D design. This is closely related to the development of information technology that is increasing every year. Knowing how to create 3D objects will open up job opportunities for the current generation. In addition, it is also one way to attract scientific interests to the University level, especially in the Mechanical Engineering Department. In facing increasingly fierce global competition, it is very necessary The purpose of this community service program is to provide training in creating 3D objects to vocational school students because there is no comprehensive training on the process of creating 3D objects and their supporting tools. as an effort to improve design skills and also at the same time capture students' interests and talents to be able to learn early about one of the sciences in the Mechanical Engineering Department. 3D object design begins with how to create 3D objects with website-based Onshape3d. Onshape3d with a website was chosen because it is open source or free. Onshape3d's ability to create 3D objects and create 3D animations has long been recognized, because it is open source. To prevent creativity support from becoming a burden, it is hoped that this will become a source of innovation for participants. To assess the effectiveness of the training, student understanding was evaluated through Quizizz before the pre-test and after the post-test of the activity. The pre-test results showed that students' initial understanding of 3D design concepts and CAD software was still relatively low, with an average score of 45%. Their knowledge was still limited to the basic functions of modeling software. After the training, the post-test evaluation showed a significant improvement: the average score jumped to 76%, reflecting a better understanding of 3D design concepts and skills in using OnShape 3D.

Abstract

The majority of fishermen in Indonesia still rely on traditional boats that have been built and passed down through generations. These fishermen tend to focus primarily on maximizing their catch, often overlooking other important aspects such as hydrodynamic resistance. In reality, beyond the fishing gear used, one of the key factors influencing the effectiveness of a fishing vessel is its hull design. This study aims to analyze the resistance characteristics of a catamaran-type fishing vessel designed by the Senopati Team. The analysis was conducted using Maxsurf Resistance software with speed variations ranging from 1 to 15 knots. To determine the optimal resistance performance, chine variations were introduced to the hull design, including both single and double chine configurations. Each variation applied chine widths of 5%, 6%, and 7% of the vessel's beam, with chine heights of 1.1 meters and 1.4 meters. The analysis results indicate that resistance increases with vessel speed. However, an increase in chine width generally leads to a reduction in resistance. The most optimal hull configuration was identified as the single chine with 7% width and 1.4 meters height. These findings suggest that the incorporation of chine variations, whether single or double, can effectively reduce the resistance experienced by the vessel compared to a bare hull configuration.
