Abstract

Science and religion are closely related because they come from one source, namely God Almighty. Therefore, the concept of the integration of science and religion must be implemented in the form of integrating religious characters in the science learning process. This study aims to identify and inventory the learning methods used to integrate religious character values in chemistry learning. This research is conducted by reviewing the literature, both in books, journal articles and popular scientific writings, about methods of integrating religious character values in chemistry learning. The main data sources are from journal articles that discuss the integration of religious characters in chemistry learning. The journal articles that became the main data source were ten articles obtained from the Google Scholar website using the keyword "integration of religious characters in chemistry learning". The research data were analyzed descriptively and qualitatively. A critical study was also carried out on the literature to obtain the correct conclusion. According to the teacher's creativity, the study results concluded that religious character values can be integrated in chemistry learning in various ways/methods. However, in their article, the researchers did not clearly and unequivocally mention the name of the learning method used to integrate religious characters in chemistry learning. Based on this conclusion, it is recommended that other research is needed to develop a learning model that integrates religious character values in chemistry learning.

Abstract

Scientific attitude is very important for each individual student, especially in the learning process. The purpose of this study was to determine the profile of students' scientific attitudes by using an electronic science textbook based on local wisdom of Madura salt making. The research was conducted at SMP Negeri 2 Pademawu. This study uses a descriptive method with a quantitative approach. The population in this study was all class VII SMP Negeri 2 Pademawu. Samples were taken using a simple random sampling technique. Data was collected using an observation sheet for students' scientific attitudes consisting of 3 aspects, 9 indicators, and 10 statements and using interview techniques to add information about science learning. research results are included in the category of quite good. Therefore, these results still need to be improved so that they become very good by using models, methods, strategies, and textbooks that can improve students' scientific attitudes, one of the textbooks that can be used is electronic textbooks based on local wisdom.

Abstract

Two oligoresveratrol, namely balanocarpol (2) and ampelopsin H (3) had been isolated from the steam bark of Hopea odorata (Dipterocarpaceae). The structures of these compounds were elucidated based on physical and spectroscopic data (MS, 1H and 13C NMR 1D and 2D). The activity of these compounds was evaluated against the 2-deoxyribose degradation induced by the hydroxyl radical generated via a Fenton-type reaction. The result showed that activity each compounds as radical hydroxyl scavenger of balanocarpol, and ampelopsin H with an IC50 1802.3 and 4840.0 μg/mL, respectively. Each compound showed low activity. Vitamin C (IC50 83.9 μg/mL) and butylated hydroxyl toluene (1328.0 μg/mL) were used as positif controls. These results suggest that oligoresveratrols from stem bark of H. odorata may be useful as potential sources of natural antioxidants.

Abstract

Isolation and structure elucidation of two resveratrols dimer, namely balanocarpol (1) and heimiol A (2) from stem bark of Hopea mengarawan had been done. The isolation of those compounds was carried out by chromatographic method and structure elucidation was performed by interpretation of spectroscopic data, including UV, IR,  1H and 13C NMR 1D and 2D, and FABMS.

Abstract

Bioactivity as antihephatotoxic directed fractionation of aceton extract from the stem bark of Hopea nigra (Dipterocarpaceae) afforded a stilbenoid trimer, namely vaticanol G (1). The structure of this compound were elucidated based on physical and spectroscopic data (UV, IR, MS, 1H and 13C NMR 1D and 2D).

Abstract

Program Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan penyuluhan dan pelatihan teknologi pemanfaatan tanaman obat berbasis kearifan dan sumber daya alam lokal untuk perbaikan tingkat kesehatan masyarakat desa karangsari wedomartani Sleman. Pada akhirnya kegiatan ini akan memberikan wawasan, pengetahuan, kemampuan, dan keterampilan kepada warga terutama para remaja dan  ibu –ibu dalam memanfaatkan bahan alam di lingkungan sekitar sebagai minuman kesehatan. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan pada tanggal 7 Agustus 2016 dengan peserta kegiatan adalah remaja dan ibu-ibu PKK desa Wedomartani Sleman. Kegiatan ini diawali dengan analisis permasalahan di lapangan, diikuti oleh persiapan rancangan  pelaksanaan program, pelatihan dan sosialisasi program yang dilengkapi alat dan bahan serta sarana dan prasarana penunjang kegiatan. Kegiatan diakhiri dengan sosialisasi serta pengarahan pembuatan minuman kesehatan berbasis sumber daya alam local.Hasil kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa 100% para peserta pelatihan merasakan bahwa kegiatan ini bermanfaat dan memiliki kemauan yang kuat untuk belajar hal baru. Dengan pelatihan yang berkelanjutan,diharapkan peserta memiliki pengetahuan dan keterampilan yang dapat digunakan untuk meningkatkan kualitas hidup bahkan menunjang kebutuhan ekonomi. Kata kunci: Tanaman obat, sumber daya alam local

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik, kelayakan, dan efektivitas penggunaan instrumen penilaian portofolio berbasis multiple intelligence untuk mengukur kemampuan berpikir kritis dan sikap ilmiah siswa SMA/MA. Prosedur pengembangan menggunakan model 4-D yang dikemukakan oleh Thiagarajan, yaitu define, design, develop, dan disseminate. Hasil penelitian: (1) karakteristik instrumen memiliki tingkat kesukaran pada kisaran -2,00 sampai +1,41 dengan reliabilitas pada kisaran 0,00 sampai 0,97; (2) instrumen dikatakan layak ditinjau dari validitas isi, empiris, dan reliabilitas; (3) hasil pengukuran kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa SMAN 4 Yogyakarta berada pada kategori sedang dan tinggi dengan kisaran sebesar 34,7% - 65,3% dan 72,2% - 78,8%, dapat dikatakatan instrumen efektif untuk mengukur kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa; (4) hasil pengukuran sikap ilmiah siswa berada pada kategori sedang dan tinggi dengan kisaran sebesar 36% - 66% dan 71% - 94%, dapat dikatakan instrumen efektif untuk mengukur sikap ilmiah siswa. Developing portfolio assessment based on multiple intelligence instrument for measuring critical thinking skills and scientific attitudes AbstractThis development research aims to find out characteristics, feasibility, and effevtiveness of portfolio assessment based on multiple intelligence instrument for measuring critical thinking skills and scientific attitudes. This developmental study refers to the model suggested by Thiagarajan which is define, design, develop, and disseminate. The results show that: (1) the characteristics of instrumen have good difficulty level -2,00 untill +1,41 and reliability 0,00 untill 0,97; (2) instrumen is feasible in terms of the contents and empirical validity, and reliabily; (3) the measurement of students’s critical thinking skills are in the medium and high category 34,7% - 65,3% and 72,2% - 78,8%, so that an effective instrument used to measure students’s critical thinking skills; (4) the measurement of students’s scientific attitudes are in the medium and high category 36% - 65,3% and 71% - 94%, so that an effective instrument used to measure students’s scientific attitudes.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the practice of argumentation to increase the knowledge and competence of acid-base material for prospective chemistry teacher students. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method. The design of this research is the pretest posttest group. The sample in this study were 54 students of chemistry education at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta who were taking basic chemistry courses. Meanwhile, the knowledge instrument is in the form of a multiple-choice test, while the competency instrument is a test in the form of a description. The data analysis technique in this study was carried out statistically inferential (analysis of independent sample t-test). The results of the study show thaththere is a significant difference between the pretest and posttest values ​​in the knowledge domain with t value is -5.508 and probability value paired t test is 0.00 (p value < 0.05). In addition, the mean is -4.167 (negative value) indicates that there is a tendency to increase knowledge significantly. There is also a significant difference between the pretest and posttest values ​​of the competency domain with t value is -8.686 and probability value paired t test is 0.00 (p value < 0.05). In addition, the mean is -3,796 (negative value) indicates that there is a tendency to significantly increase the value of the competency dimension.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine differences in self-efficacy and problem-solving abilities of students in problem-based learning and scientific approach learning. This study uses a quasi-experimental research design with a pretest-posttest group research design. The sample used in this study consisted of two classes, namely class XI Mathematics and Natural Sciences 4 as the experimental class and class XI Mathematics and Natural Sciences 2 as the control class. A total of 70 class XI students were randomly selected as the research sample using random sampling technique. The instrument used was a test in the form of a description of the ability to solve problems and a non-test, namely a self-efficacy questionnaire. The analysis technique in this study used the Manova test and the Paired Sample T-Test. The results of this study indicate that there are significant differences in the self-efficacy and problem-solving abilities of students who take problem-based learning with students who take scientific approach learning. The contribution given by the problem-based learning model to self-efficacy and the ability to solve problems simultaneously is 71.5%, students' self-efficacy is 61.8%, and problem-solving skills is 43.3%.

Abstract

This study aims to formulate and evaluate the anti-aging tamarind leaf (Tamarindus Indica L.) extract cream due to the increasing demand for the anti-aging product day by day. In this study, tamarind leaf extract was tested to find out its phytochemicals, antioxidant activity using a 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl method, and anti-aging activity using a UV spectrophotometer. Anti-aging cream was formulated based on the antioxidant and anti-aging potential of tamarind leaf extract and its evaluation. The cream was formulated with tamarind leaf extract, carboxymethylcellulose, and base cream with different emulsion types (water in oil and oil in water). This study revealed that tamarind leaf extract contains alkaloid, flavonoid, saponin, phenol, and tannin. Tamarind leaf extract also has an antioxidant and an anti-aging activity. The cream evaluation showed that cream with extract concentration at 80 ppm emulsion types W/O and O/W placed in outdoor and indoors were to be stable during 4 weeks of stability studies. The creams still have antioxidant activity, do not experience a significant change in their physical appearance at organoleptic test, homogeny, pH range at 4.5-8, spreadability range at 5-7 cm in weight 0-50 gram, and are not separated during centrifugation test.
