Abstract

Introduction: The scallions sorting and weighing center are an informal sector business engaged in fulfilling the supply of scallions for the wholesale market in Sidoarjo. The labourers at the sorting and weighing scallions have varying nutritional status. The labourers with the normal nutritional status of produce more of processed scallions, whereas those who have poor nutritional status usually the produce fewer number of processed scallions. Work fatigue in the labourers also determines their productivity. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the correlation between individual characteristics, nutritional status, subjective fatigue and the productivity of the labourers in the sorting and weighing scallions. Methods: Based on the objectives of this study, this research is an observational and correlational type of research. The samples of this study were 28 labourers. The variables of this study are individual characteristics, nutritional status, subjective fatigue, and work productivity. Results: The magnitude of the value of the contingency coefficient test and the Spearman correlation with the value α = 1% which showed the results of relationship between years of service with productivity, nutritional status with productivity and also subjective fatigue with productivity. The sig value of correlation coefficient is less than 0.01. Conclusion: There is a relationship between individual characteristics, nutritional status, subjective fatigue with work productivity in the sorting and weighing scallions.Keywords: education, fatigue, nutritional status, productivity, time of services

Abstract

 Introduction: PT X is one of the companies in fertilizer production industry. There are two high-risk activities that endanger the safety and health of workers, namely supervision of welding and oil level checking in ammonia plant field of PT X. The purpose of this research was to apply risk management to the activities. Method: This research was a descriptive study which was carried out in observation using a cross sectional design. Variables in this study included hazard identification, basic risk analysis, risk control that has been done, existing risk analysis, and risk reduction assessment. The tools used for the data collection were observation sheets, interview guide sheets, and Job Safety Analysis sheets. Data that has been obtained through observation and interviews was processed using Fine (1971) semi quantitative technique. Results: The results of hazard identification were known to have as many as 6 potential hazards. The assessment results in the basic risk analysis showed that the initial risk level consisted of 3 risks with very high level, 2 risks with a substantial level and 1 risk with priority 3 level. After the risk control effort was applied, the results of the assessment in the existing risk analysis showed that the level of risk has decreased significantly. Conclusion: The value of risk reduction of each potential hazard results decreases by 95%, 88.89%, 85%, 93.33%, 66.67%, and 75%.Keywords: ammonia plant, fertilizer production industry, risk management

Abstract

Introduction: Work-related fatigue on workers are usually caused by some factors such as individual characteristics (age, work period, nutritional status) and rest break. This research aims to analyze the correlation between individual characteristics and rest break with work-related fatigue on telecommunication network service workers. Method: This research used an observational analytic and a cross-sectional approach. The population and sample in this research were all 32 workers at I-OAN unit in a telecommunication network service company. The independent variables in this study were age, work period, nutritional status, and rest break, while the dependent variable was work-related fatigue. Data were obtained throughquestionnaires about individual characteristics (age, work period, nutritional status) and rest break filled by workers. The data were also obtained through the Industrial Fatique Research Committee (IFRC) questionnaires filled by workers. All of the data in this study were analyzed with the Spearman correlation test (α = 0.05). Results: The majority of I-OAN unit workers are in the age range of 25-29 years (46.9%), have 3-4 years of work period (56.2%), and have normal nutritional status (40.6%). For the rest break variable, there are16 workers (50%) who have <30 minutes rest break and also 16 workers (50%) who have ≥ 30 minutes rest break. Conclusion: There is a correlation between individual characteristics and rest break with work-related fatigue on telecommunication network service workers.Keywords: individual characteristics, rest break, work-related fatigue

Abstract

Introduction: Productive human resources are able to complete the given tasks and responsibilities well. Discipline is the mental attitude at work needed to achieve productivity. Discipline at work creates smooth operational activities of the company. PT. Bina Megah Indowood is a manufacturing company that provides solid wood flooring with various thickness. The present study analyses¬ the correlation between individual characteristics, discipline, and work productivity among molding machine workers of PT. Bina Megah Indowood. Methods: This study was an observational analytic study with a cross sectional approach. Variables in this study were work discipline as an independent variable and productivity as a dependent variable. The population in this study were 58 workers in the molding section, 50 of whom were taken as samples. The sampling technique used was a simple random sampling. Morover, the two types of data used in this study were primary data obtained from questionnaires and secondary data obtained from the company profiles and a summary of production results every month. The technique of data analysis data was a Spearman correlation test. Results: Most workers in the molding machine production unit of PT. Bina Megah Indowood have moderate discipline and moderate work productivity. There is a correlation between discipline and work productivity with ρ-value = 0.020. The contingency coefficient between discipline and work productivity is 0.328, which means the correlation is weak. Conclusion: Higher work productivity is followed higher level of discipline. Meanwhile, individual characteristics have no correlation with work productivity because the distribution resultof individual characteristics is only dominant in one category.Keywords: discipline, individual characteristics, work productivity

Abstract

Introduction: Equipment that must be used by workers for work safety when working with potential work hazards or accidents is personal protective equipment (PPE). The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors associated with the use of PPE in the workforce of technicians at PT. APRS in terms of PPE usage. Methods: This research was an analytic observational study, with cross sectional design. The subjects of this study were all of the technician workforce in the section of Blow molding, Maintenance and Injection Molding unit, totalling 39 respondents. Results: This study showed that activator factors such as perception (r = 0.108), knowledge of occupational health and safety (r = -0.104), and PPE regulation (r = -0.166) had a weak relationship with safety behavior on compliance with PPE implementation. Conclusions: The workforce behaved poorly in using PPE in the workplace. In the Blow Molding, Maintenance and Injection Molding unit, workers who had a moderate level of perceptions, workers who had a moderate level of knowledge, and workers who had a enough ability to comply with PPE regulations.Keywords: knowledge, perception, personal protective equipment, policy

Abstract

Occupational Health and Safety (K3) is one of the requirements to increase employee productivity. This study aims to determine the effect of safety motivation and safety knowledge on the safety performance of PT X Sidoarjo workers. In the production process this company needs to perform maintenance on machines and production equipment. This study involved 60 workers who were selected by simple random sampling technique. The collected data were analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results showed that safety motivation had a positive effect on safety performance (p = 0.000), while safety knowledge had no effect on safety performance (p = 0.588). It can be concluded that safety motivation is a determinant of the safety performance of workers at PT X Sidoarjo.Keywords: safety motivation; safety performance; productivityABSTRAK Keselamatan dan Kesehatan Kerja (K3) merupakan salah satu persyaratan untuk meningkatkan produktivitas karyawan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh safety motivation dan safety knowledge terhadap safety performance pekerja PT X Sidoarjo. Dalam proses produksi perusahaan ini perlu melakukan maintenance mesin dan peralatan produksi. Penelitian ini melibatkan 60 pekerja yang dipilih dengan teknik simple random sampling. Abstract

PG. Poerwodadie is one of the white crystal sugar factories left by the Dutch East Indies. In the production process with a fairly high risk of work accidents, the company provides Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). However, most workers have not complied with the use of PPE in the work area. Therefore, it is necessary to research factors related to non-compliance with the use of PPE. The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between age, years of service, education, and attitudes with workers who were not obedient in using PPE. This research uses quantitative with the cross-sectional approach. The population in this study were all workers at the PG. Poerwodadie manufacturing station totals 80 people. The study concludes that there was a relationship between the age of workers and non-compliance with the use of PPE with the value of Phi and Cramer's V = 0.337. There was a relationship between the working period and non-compliance with the use of PPE with a value of 0.329. There was a relationship between worker knowledge and non-compliance with the use of PPE with the value = 0.279. There was no relationship between worker attitudes and non-compliance with the use of PPE

Abstract

Labor holds crucial and notable function as both the subject and goal of the development due to the quality of human resource and high productivity encompassed on it. One of the factors of high productivity is work motivation. The purpose of this research was to determine the correlation between Work Motivation with Work Productivity in Sorting And Packing Department of Dharma Gemilang Perkasa Company, Muliakeramik Group, in Ngoro - East Java. This research was an analytic observational research with spearman’s correlation approach. The samples in this research is 13 workers in sorting and packing division in PT. Dharma Perkasa Gemilang, Muliakeramik Group, Ngoro – East Java. The variables are individual characteristic (age and period of work), work motivation, and work productivity. Meanwhile, the instrument of this study is the measurement of work motivation by filling the questionnaire. The data are analyzed by univariate and bivariate (using Spearman correlation test with α= 0,01). The results showed that there was statistically positive correlation between work motivation and work productivity (p- value 0,004) and correlation value r = 0,732 which meant that there was a strong relation between work motivation and work productivity. Conclusion of this research is work motivation had positive effect on work productivity. It can be suggested that PT. Dharma Perkasa Gemilang, Muliakeramik Group, Ngoro- East Java need to provide enhancement of labor’s work motivation in order to gain high productivity, which are escalation of maintenance quality in the form of performance evaluation, payment, or salary according to Regional Minimum SalaryKeywords: Individual Characteristics, Works Motivation, Works Productivity

Abstract

Kecelakaan kerja merupakan suatu resiko daeri setiap pekerjaan, tak terkecuali pada bidang pertanian. Petani berisiko mengalami kecelakaan kerja dikarenakan dalam bekerja tidak terlepas dari mesin, benda tajam, hewan dan tumbuhan yang bisa melukai, cuaca panas serta posisi kerja yang tidak ergonomis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mencari faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan kecelakaan kerja pada petani padi di Desa Jatirembe Kecamatan Benjeng Kabupaten Gresik. Desain penelitian ini adalah observasional analitik dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah petani padi di Desa Jatirembe sebanyak 100 orang, diambil sampel menggunakan teknik simple random sampling dengan besar sampel 80 orang. Data didapatkan dengan wawancara kuesioner untuk mengetahui karakteristik individu (Usia, Masa/Lama Kerja, dan status pendidikan), cara kerja (bekerja tidak fokus, kelelahan), Penggunaan Alat Pelindung Diri (APD), alat kerja (benda tajam, mesin pertanian, setrum listrik perangkap tikus), bahan (penggunaan pestisida), lingkungan (sengatan matahari, hewan dan tumbuhan yang bisa melukai). Data dianalisis dengan chi-square test dan tabulasi silang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kecelakaan kerja yang pernah terjadi adalah terkena benda tajam (56,8%), terluka karena hewan atau tumbuhan (53,1%), pingsan karena dehidrasi dan cuaca panas (34,6%), sesak nafas karena menghirup pestisida (32,1%), terluka karena mesin pertanian (25,9%),ntersengat listrik perangkap tikus (1,2%). Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah usia, masa kerja, penggunaan Alat Pelindung Diri, penggunaan mesin pertanian, sengatan terik matahari berhubungan dengan kecelakaan kerja pada petani padi.

Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah usia, masa kerja, penggunaan Alat Pelindung Diri, penggunaan mesin pertanian, sengatan terik matahari berhubungan dengan kecelakaan kerja pada petani padi.
