Abstract

In production activities, energy companies need sufficient funds, one of which is by issuing stocks. Before investing, investors pay attention to the rate of return and risk, such as financial losses. In addition, the volume of stock trading is also used to assess the performance of a stock. The Covid-19 pandemic affects the risk of stocks in the world's energy sector, including Indonesia. The news about Covid-19 that mutated gave rise to investor panic, so that the volatility (risk) of stocks increased. This study aims to identify the existence of stock risk and the relationship between stock risk with the volume of energy trading in the energy sector in the Covid-19 period of the Delta and Omicron variants. The results showed that the risk of the energy sector shares was identified in the Delta period. The risk of the energy sector is quite stable, and suitable for risk aversion. It was also obtained that there was a positive relationship between stock risk and the volume of stock trading in the energy sector in the Delta period where the increase or decrease in the volume of stock trading, was followed by an increase or decrease in the risk of the energy sector stocks.

Abstract

Basic iron and steel (ISIC 24101) is one of the important commodities in the development process in Indonesia and its use in the construction sector reaches more than 75 percent. However, Indonesia still imports to fulfill domestic consumption. The production process is suspected to be inefficient. The purpose of this study is to identify the presence or absence of technical inefficiency in the basic iron and steel production process and its determinants using secondary data from the results of the 2017 Annual Survey of Manufacturing Industry Companies with the unit of analysis being large companies, and the Stochastic Frontier Analysis approach. The results show that the production process of basic iron and steel in Indonesia is not yet efficient. The majority of large companies have a medium level of efficiency. Companies that operate for a full year tend to be inefficient in their production process activities. On the other hand, large companies will also tend to be inefficient in their production process if they do not carry out R&D activities and do not innovate their products.

Abstract

Poverty is one of the macroeconomic problems faced by all countries in the world, including Indonesia. One of the Indonesian government's programs to alleviate poverty is the Transfer to Regions and Village Funds (TKDD), namely the Non-Physical Special Allocation Fund (DAK). During the 2015-2021 period, the Non-Physical DAK allocated to the Provinces of Papua and West Papua increased and was the highest compared to other Provinces in Indonesia. However, the depth of poverty in these two provinces is also the highest in Indonesia. It is the researchers' suspicion that there is inefficiency in the Non-Physical DAK in the two provinces. The research objective is to identify the existence of technical efficiency problems and the influence of Non-Physical DAK on alleviating the depth of poverty in Papua and West Papua Provinces using Stochastic Fronter Analysis. The results of the study concluded that the government's efforts to reduce the depth of poverty in the provinces of Papua and West Papua were not as optimal as expected. There is a problem of non-physical DAK technical inefficiency in the two Provinces with more than 50% of Regencies/Cities in the two Provinces having a low level of efficiency in allocating funds in reducing the depth of poverty. The funds that were able to significantly reduce the depth of poverty in the two provinces were the Health Operational Assistance Fund and the Assistance for Early Childhood Education. The hope from this research is that the government will immediately evaluate and improve as soon as possible regarding the distribution of the non-physical DAK which is budgeted for so that these funds are more efficient in reducing the depth of poverty in the provinces of Papua and West Papua.

Abstract

Soybean is a primary commodity in Indonesia with a large dependence on imports, this shows the magnitude of the challenge in realizing soybean self-sufficiency which might cause problems later. This study aims to determine the development of soybean production, consumption, and import patterns along with factors that influenced soybean imports in Indonesia in the period 1983 to 2019. Simulations were also carried out with changes in values of several variables to determine resulting impact on soybean imports. Analysis was performed using simultaneous equations with the Two Stage Least Square (2SLS) method. The results showed that the pattern of development of soybean consumption and imports from 1983 to 2019 tended to increase, but the decline occurred in soybean production. Based on the results of the 2SLS method, it is known that consumption has a positive effect on soybean imports while production has a negative effect. Conversely, production has a positive effect on soybean consumption, but is negatively affected by per capita GDP. It is also known that soybean production is positively influenced by harvested area and domestic soybean prices. The simulation results show an increase in soybean production and consumption will occur when domestic soybean prices are increased or restrictions on the volume of soybean imports in Indonesia are imposed.

Abstract

Rapid increase in population is a big challenge, especially for food security. As a staple food, rice has a vital role in the daily life of Indonesian people. This study aims to analyze the factors that influence availability and consumption of rice in 34 Indonesian provinces in 2021 using simultaneous equation estimated by Two Stage Least Square (2SLS). The results is rice availability and rice consumption had a positive and significant effect on each other. Harvested area also has a positive and significant effect on the rice availability, while price of rice has no significant effect. Furthermore, population has a positive and significant effect on rice consumption, while GRDP has no significant effect. Simulations were also carried out on the impact of decreased harvested area, population growth, and increase in GRDP on the availability and consumption of rice. If these conditions occur, rice availability cannot meet national rice consumption needs.

Abstract

During the last seven years, unemployment in Indonesia has been dominated by the educated workforce. The limited number of educated workers in the labor market, there has been speculation about a decent wage for educated workers. Unemployment is also related to the length of time looking for work which depends on the wages offered and the expected minimum wage. Therefore, it’s necessary to study the wages received by educated workers so that wage conditions for educated workers in Indonesia can be identified. This study also aims to analyze the variables that influence trends in the wage status of educated workers. The analytical method used is descriptive analysis in diagrams and inferential analysis with binary logistic regression. The results showed that educated workers with college education levels, male, aged 25 years and over, worked at least 35 hours a week, worked for at least 6 years, and attended job training have a greater tendency to get wages above the regional minimum wage.

Abstract

Production of industrial mine salt in Indonesia is still not sufficient for national needs, forcing Indonesia to import it. In fact, the potential of the region and its resources to become a salt producer is enormous. This is allegedly due to inefficiencies in the production process. It is known that one of the salts that generally has industrial salt levels of Sodium Chloride (NaCl) is mine salt. Therefore, this study examines whether there is technical inefficiency and its determinants of industrial salt mining household businesses in Indonesia. The data used is raw data from the Annual Survey of Industrial Material Quarrying and Construction with the GALIAN-URT questionnaire in Indonesia in 2022. Cobb-Douglas Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA) is used to measure technical inefficiency. The results of this study indicate that the length of time a business operates has a positive effect on technical efficiency. The average technical efficiency obtained is 0.66 which means that production is not optimal. Variations in inefficiency between businesses are dominated by variables that cannot be controlled by business owners.

Abstract

The agricultural sector is one of the economic sectors that has a role in meeting food needs. The sustainability and development of agriculture certainly requires the contribution of generation Z who is the next generation of the nation. But this seems a little difficult considering that the employment of the agricultural sector is declining, especially in generation Z. Therefore, it is important to know what factors cause generation Z to no longer choose the agricultural sector as their main job and how these factors are related between provinces in Indonesia. The labor absorption of a region is influenced by other regions, meaning that there is spatial autocorrelation, so spatial analysis is carried out. The model used is Spatial Error Model (SEM), because there is dependency between dependent variables and there is error correlation between regions. The results of the analysis show that GDP per capita in the agricultural sector, land area, and average years of schooling have a significant effect on the number of workers in the agricultural sector. In contrast, the gender dominance of a region, and the Farmer Exchange Rate have no significant effect.

Abstract

Food is a basic need for humans to be able to live and improve their lives. The Global Food Security Index (GFSI) and the Food Security Index (IKP) are each a measure of how good food security is in the world and Indonesia. In 2022 Indonesia's GFSI score is ranked 69th in the world and sixth in ASEAN countries. Indonesia's GFSI has also decreased from 2018 to 2021. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of consumption on a decrease in the level of food security as reflected in Indonesia's GFSI scores for the 2018-2021 period based on 2 GFSI aspects, namely Affordability and Availability. The data used is panel data from 34 provinces in Indonesia from 2018 to 2021 which were analyzed using the panel data regression method. The Random Effect Model (REM) was chosen as the best model in this study with the results showing that Rice Productivity, Total Rice Consumption, and Protein Consumption have a positive and significant effect on the Level of Food Security.

Abstract

Food security is one of the nation’s responsibility in ensuring the appropriate and affordable foods for its citizens, especially rice. However, the rising number of agricultural land function conversion together with inequality rice production in every provinces still challenge our government in achieving the national food security. Understanding this situation, this research is conducted to analyze the factors influencing rice production in each province in Indonesia in 2021. To achieve this purpose, descriptive analysis and inferential analysis are employed, utilizing the Geographically Weighted Regression due to the spatial factors involved in each province and the occurrence of spatial heterogeneity from the global model. GWR model shows a better performance compared to global model in modelling the rice production growth in Indonesia. The results shows that there are six regional groups based on significant variables. Furthermore, labor still be the main factor in increasing rice production across all provinces also the intensity of fertility must be considered in order to achieve food security in Indonesia.
