Abstract

This article examines the digital promotion strategy implemented by Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) through its TikTok account @Lifewithbsi in introducing Islamic banking products to younger audiences. The study is grounded in the growing role of social media—particularly TikTok—as a central medium for visual and symbolic communication among digital natives. The research aims to analyze BSI’s visual-narrative strategy and evaluate the effectiveness of promotional content in increasing audience awareness and interest. Employing a qualitative approach with a descriptive-explorative design, the study adopts digital ethnography as its main method. Data were collected through a seven-day intensive observation of video content, captions, comments, and user interactions on the @Lifewithbsi account. Findings reveal that BSI utilizes a storytelling-based promotion model, light symbolic religious messaging, and creative visual formats aligned with TikTok’s algorithmic culture. Content effectiveness is evident through high engagement levels on emotionally and informatively resonant posts. This strategy successfully enhances brand proximity and reinforces positive perceptions of BSI’s Islamic banking services. The study concludes that TikTok functions not only as a promotional platform but also as a symbolic space for shaping digital religious identity and communicatively expanding Islamic banking’s market reach through aesthetic and participatory means.

Abstract

Sharia Savings and Financing Cooperatives (KSPPS) constitute an essential component of Indonesia’s Islamic microfinance sector, providing Sharia-compliant financial services to micro and small economic actors. However, the regulatory framework governing KSPPS remains fragmented and predominantly administrative, offering limited financial supervision and insufficient protection for members’ funds. This regulatory condition creates structural disparities between KSPPS and other Sharia financial institutions and raises concerns regarding institutional stability and public trust. This study examines the legal position of KSPPS within Indonesia’s national legal framework and proposes a regulatory reconstruction aimed at integrating supervision and deposit guarantee mechanisms. Using a qualitative juridical-normative approach combined with institutional analysis and public policy evaluation, the research analyzes statutory regulations, ministerial policies, DSN-MUI fatwas, and existing supervisory practices. Comparative analysis with Islamic banking supervision is employed to identify regulatory gaps and best practices. The findings reveal that KSPPS are legally positioned as general cooperatives, resulting in fragmented oversight between administrative authorities and internal Sharia supervisory bodies that lack prudential and enforcement authority. Furthermore, the absence of a Sharia-based deposit guarantee scheme exposes members to financial risk and contradicts the Sharia objective of wealth protection (ḥifẓ al-māl). To address these challenges, the study proposes an integrated regulatory model that repositions KSPPS as Sharia microfinance institutions subject to risk-based, Sharia-compliant supervision and supported by a Sharia-based deposit guarantee scheme grounded in the principles of tabarru’ and ta‘āwun. This research contributes to Islamic financial regulation scholarship by offering a coherent normative and institutional framework that strengthens legal certainty, consumer protection, and the sustainability of Sharia cooperative finance.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the perceptions of PT Kanindo Makmur Jaya 2 employees regarding the ease of access to financing through Islamic banks and informal financing institutions. The research method used qualitative data collection techniques through interviews, observation, and documentation. The results showed that employees perceived Islamic banks as having complicated procedures, requiring numerous documents, and taking a long time to disburse funds, while informal financing institutions were considered more accessible, fast, and flexible despite having high interest risks. Convenience and speed were the main reasons employees chose informal institutions to meet urgent economic needs. This study concluded that low levels of Islamic financial literacy and minimal product socialization have led to negative perceptions of Islamic banks, so strategies to improve education and simplify procedures are needed to expand Islamic financial inclusion among factory workers.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the opportunities and barriers in marketing the Qurban Savings product at BMT Al-Hikmah Permata. This study employs a qualitative approach, with data collection techniques including interviews, observation and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the Qurban Savings product has significant market potential, supported by the strong tradition of the Qurban ritual and the high level of public interest in performing it. This product also serves as an alternative solution for those with limited funds through a gradual savings system. However, the marketing of the product still faces several obstacles, such as low public literacy regarding the product, perceptions equating it with conventional savings groups, the habit of performing qurban directly, low savings discipline, unstable economic conditions, as well as competition with other financial institutions and more established qurban savings groups. These findings indicate that marketing success is influenced not only by market potential but also by the level of public understanding and trust. Therefore, strategies are required to enhance education, promote the product based on religious values, innovate the deposit system, and improve service quality so that the product can develop more effectively.

Abstract

This study analyzes the implementation of the murabahah bil wakalah contract in multi- benefit financing at BTN Syariah KCPS Kudus and assesses its compliance with the DSN-MUI Fatwa No. 04/DSN-MUI/IV/2000 concerning Murabahah and No. 10/DSN-MUI/IV/2000 concerning Wakalah. The method used in this study is qualitative with data collection techniques being interviews with related parties, namely Financing Service, Operation Staff, and Sub Branch Head, as well as direct observation of the contract process and supervision of implementation in the field. The results of the study indicate that the murabahah bil wakalah contract has been implemented in accordance with the sharia principles stipulated in the DSN-MUI fatwa, especially in terms of clarity of the contract, determination of selling price, and financing mechanism. However, there are several challenges faced, especially in terms of ownership of goods before selling to customers and monitoring the use of funds to ensure that they are in accordance with the objectives of the contract. As an implication, this study recommends strengthening transaction verification mechanisms, increasing transparency in ownership of goods before being sold to customers, and more effective education strategies for customers to ensure compliance with sharia principles.
