Abstract

The role of prior mathematical knowledge and interest in mathematics as internal factors that can influence the mathematical concept understanding ability in learning mathematics in schools is important to consider. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of prior mathematical knowledge and interest in mathematics to mathematical concept understanding ability. This study uses a quantitative research approach with data analysis techniques using multiple linear regression analysis. The participants in this study totaled 91 students who were all students of class X MA As-syafiiyah 02 Kota Bekasi for academic year 2022/2023. The results of this study were obtained: 1) Students' prior mathematical knowledge had a significant effect on students' mathematical concept understanding partially 2) Students' interest in learning mathematics had a significant effect on student’s mathematical concept understanding partially 3) prior mathematical knowledge and interest in learning mathematics simultaneously had a significant influence to the mathematical concept understanding ability. This can be interpreted that the acquisition of students' mathematical concept understanding ability can be increased by considering the factors of prior mathematical knowledge and students' interest in learning mathematics.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan apa saja jenis kesalahan yang dilakukan siswa dan faktor penyebab siswa melakukan kesalahan dilihat dari aspek keterampilan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita pada materi aritmatika sosial berdasarkan tahapan Newman’s Error Analysis (NEA) Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek yang dipilih dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 8 siswa, dengan kriteria: 4 siswa yang melakukan kesalahan yang banyak dilakukan oleh siswa lain dan 4 siswa yang melakukan kesalahan yang unik atau berbeda dengan siswa lain. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui tes tertulis dan wawancara. Tes tertulis diadakan secara offline, sedangkan wawancara dilaksanakan secara online melalui aplikasi Zoom. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa jenis-jenis kesalahan yang dilakukan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita aritmatika sosial diantaranya: 1) Kesalahan membaca; 2) Kesalahan memahami masalah; 3) Kesalahan transformasi; 4) Kesalahan keterampilan proses; 5) Kesalahan penulisan jawaban akhir. Terdapat 4 faktor penyebab kesalahan ditinjau aspek keterampilan siswa yakni dari segi: 1) linguistik: penguasaan kata/kalimat yang kurang baik dan belum matang, tidak bisa menyusun kata yang dipikirkan sesuai dengan pemahaman terhadap maksud soal; 2) perseptual: membaca dengan teknik superficial reading (membaca dangkal), kurang memilki keterampilan dalam menentukan posisi nilai tempat pada suatu bilangan; 3) berhitung: tidak menguasai keterampilan pada operasi pada matematika, kurang berlatih menyelesaikan soal cerita dengan variasi yang berbeda; 4) atensional: kekurang cermatan, tidak memahami apa yang diminta pada soal.

Abstract

This study discusses the meaning and indicators of mathematical creative thinking ability. The research method used is library research. Based on the results of the study it was found that the ability to think creatively mathematically is the ability to solve open-ended mathematical events by presenting various new ideas. The indicators for measuring the ability to think creatively mathematically are fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration.

Abstract

Kompleksitas situasi belajar mengajar di kelas sering kali menyulitkan bagi guru pemula terlebih lagi mahasiswa calon guru. Mata kuliah Praktik Keterampilan Mengajar (PKM) merupakan kesempatan pertama bagi mahasiswa calon guru untuk mengajar di kelas. Minimnya pengalaman mengajar di kelas, terkadang menyulitkan mereka dalam mengambil keputusan sesaat yang dibutuhkan di dalam kelas. Situasi di kelas yang tidak direncanakan dan tidak diduga sebelumnya dikenal dengan istilah contingency. Artikel ini fokus memaparkan hasil penyelidikan tentang bagaimana respon mahasiswa calon guru matematika dalam menghadapi contingency di kelas. Penelitian ini menggunakan metodologi case study dengan melibatkan 4 orang mahasiswa calon guru yang sedang mengambil mata kuliah PKM. Data diperoleh dengan rekaman video saat mahasiswa mengajar di kelas dan wawancara individu. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan dua pemicu contingency yaitu jawaban siswa yang tidak terduga dan ketidaksesuaian penggunaan waktu. Selain itu mahasiswa menggunakan pendekatan tradisional saat menghadapi contingency di kelas. Hal ini mengindikasikan pedagogical content knowledge(PCK) mahasiswa berpegaruh terhadap pendekatan pembelajaran yang digunakan. Kata kunci: matematika, mahasiswa calon guru, contingency, pedagogical content knowledge. ABSTRACT The complexcity of classroom teaching is found to be one of the difficulties for pre-service teachers. Most pre-service teachers encounter authentic classroom teaching when they do teaching practice in a school. With little or no teaching experience, it is difficult for pre-service teachers to act in the moment during the teaching. Unplanned situations in a classroom is called contingency. This paper focuses on investigating how pre-service teachers act in the moment when responding to contingency. Case study methodology is used in this research. Four pre-service teachers were involved, data are collected through video observation, interview and fieldnotes. The findings showed that the contingency is triggered by unplanned student’s answers and the misused of time. Moreover, this study also found that pre-service teachers used traditional teaching when responding to contingency, indicating that their PCK contributes to their action. Abstract

This study aims to describe the types of mistake and causes of the XI grade students of SMA Negeri 31 Jakarta TP. 2019/2020 made a mistake in solving the problem of an algebraic function derivative application. The method of this research is a qualitative descriptive study. The data was obtained by conducting tests and interview online. The respondents were drawn from 6 XI class in SMA Negeri 31 Jakarta. Each student's work was analyzed to describe the types of mistakes using the Newman analysis procedure, then an interview was conducted to describe the factors that caused students to make mistakes. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the types of mistakes found when students solve problems in the application of algebraic function derivatives are 1) reading mistakes, that is, incorrectly writing the functions listed in the questions, 2) mistakes in understanding, in the form of misinterpreting what is known and asked about, 3) transformation mistakes, in the form of students' inability to choose procedures to solve problems appropriately, 4) process skill mistakes, in the form of incomplete student work, miscalculation, 5) conditioning mistakes, in the form of students' inability to show the final answer. The contributing factors are that students do not understand the derivative application material of algebraic functions, students are in a hurry to solve the problems, different types of questions given are different from the questions exemplified by the teacher, and rarely make conclusions at the end of the answer. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan keunggulan penerapan model pembelajaran aptitude treatment interaction dalam pembelajaran matematika berdasarkan artikel penelitian yang diterbitkan dalam satu dekade terakhir. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode literature review secara sistematis dengan mengumpulkan 15 jurnal yang relevan kemudian diseleksi kembali untuk memenuhi kriteria inklusi dan kriteria penilaian kualitas hasil penelitian. Ditemukan informasi perkembangan penelitian analisis penerapan model pembelajaran aptitude treatment interaction mulai dari tingkat SD, SMP, SMA, dan Perguruan Tinggi. Tingkat keberhasilan yang ditunjukkan dari penerapan model aptitude treatment interaction dalam pembelajaran matematika di tingkat SD, SMP, SMA dan Perguruan tinggi sangat tinggi. Selaras dengan hasil analisis dari penelitian yang disajikan tertulis beberapa masukan yang diberikan oleh penulis, salah satu masukan yang dituliskan dalam artikel adalah seorang guru harus melakukan persiapan yang baik saat menerapkan model aptitude treatment interaction dalam pembelajaran dan guru harus mengetahui kemampuan siswa dengan baik karena jika guru salah dalam mengelompokkan siswa maka perlakuan yang diperoleh siswa juga akan salah.

Abstract

The importance of mastering mathematical communication skills and independent learning in the 21st century. This research finds out whether learning independence affects mathematical communication skills. This research uses a literature study methodology or Systematic Literature Review (SLR). This research collects data by taking data from literary sources, reading, taking notes, and processing these sources as research material The research analyzed 35 articles that had been accredited in the literature review obtained from Google Scholar, Research Gate, Publish or Perish, Taylor & Francis, Science Direct, and DOAJ. The results of this research are that soft skills can influence hard skills, namely learning independence can influence mathematical communication skills which have an impact on improving student learning outcomes.

Abstract

The results of the preliminary study show that students' mathematical literacy skills on the topic probability was low. This is caused by teachers' conservative teaching methods and students who are not familiar with literacy matters. The presentation of opportunity material is not fully adequate to guide students in learning. This research aims to develop learning designs with a Realistic Mathematic Education (RME) approach with local Jakarta culture on opportunity material using the Gravemeijer and Cobb model which consists of three stages, namely experimental preparation), experimental implementation), and retrospective analysis. The research subject was Health Vocational School Mulia Karya Husada class XI. The learning design in question is a learning path known as Hypothetical Learning Trajectory (HLT). HLT is a learning flow consisting of learning objectives, learning activities, and learning process hypotheses to predict how students think and understanding will develop in the context of learning activities. The research results show that there was an increase in students mathematical literacy abilities.

Abstract

Kemampuan keterampilan yang terpenting dalam era globalisasi dan diperlukan untuk mengembangkan cara berpikir individu yakni keterampilan berpikir kritis. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk  melakukan kajian literatur dengan definisi dan indikator yang diperlukan untuk menghitung dan memperkirakan kemampuan berpikir kritis dalam setiap individu yang harus dicapai pada jenjang sekolah dan calon guru. Penelitian ini menggunakan Studi Literatur, yang mencakup 15 hasil penelitian yang terakreditasi bersumber dari Google Scholar, Scopus serta Taylor & Francis yang berkaitan dengan kemampuan berpikir kritis. Sampel penelitian diambil dari berbagai jurnal pendidikan yang terindeks diterbitkan dari tahun 2018-2023. Berdasarkan penelitian ini didapatkan bahwa kemampuan berpikir kritis merupakan keterampilan saling mengkonstruksi analisis yang bersumber dari konsep, pengetahuan dan pengalaman pribadi dalam sebuah permasalahan, menganalisis solusi yang paling tepat dan mengevaluasi solusi yang ditentukan dalam sebuah permasalahan. Indikator kemampuan berpikir kritis yang paling sering digunakan dalam artikel yang dianalisis yaitu menurut Ennis, Facione, serta Paul dan Elder. Dari beberapa indikator yang sering digunakan, bisa disimpulkan untuk indikator berpikir kritis pasti terdapat langkah-langkah untuk memapaparkan sebuah masalah, menganalisis, mengevaluasi dan refleksi. Keterampilan yang wajib dimiliki yaitu kemampuan berpikir kritis untuk mendapatkan solusi terbaik. Dalam proses mengkonstruksi pengetahuan membutuhkan pernyataan kritis dan bermakna sehingga dalam setiap prosesnya sehingga dapat dipertanggungjawabkan penalarannya.

Abstract

The basis for this research was the low mathematical critical thinking skills among fifth-grade students of SDN Kubang 02. The objective was to develop their mathematical critical thinking skills using the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach and spatial visualization. This research is a classroom action research (PTK) with Kemmis and McTaggart model consisting of three cycles. Data collection was taken from observation and test data, while data analysis used qualitative and quantitative comparative descriptive methods by comparing data results from each cycle. The researcher's findings are that using the RME approach and spatial visualization in the mathematics learning process can develop students' mathematical critical thinking skills. This can be seen from acquiring mathematical critical thinking ability test results that have increased each cycle. In the pre-cycle students who obtained a test score ≥ 65 only reached 9 students or 18%, in cycle I experienced a development of 24 students or 49%, in cycle II experienced a development to 31 students or 63%, in cycle III continued to experience development until it reached 40 students or reached a percentage of 82%. Development can also be seen from the average value of students' mathematical critical thinking skills which increased from 50 in pre-cycle conditions, to 61 in cycle I, in cycle II it increased to 69, and in cycle III it increased again to 73. Based on the data obtained, it can be concluded that the use of the RME approach and spatial visualization is effective in developing the mathematical critical thinking skills of grade V students at SDN Kubang 02.
