Abstract

In mathematics learning, many factors affect concentration and interest in learning, including anxiety experienced by students. Mathematics anxiety is a feeling of worry and discomfort when doing activities related to mathematics. For this reason, this study aims to identify the factors that cause mathematics anxiety and efforts to overcome mathematics anxiety. The method used in this study is SLR (Systematic Literature Review). Data was collected through documentation and review of 14 journals obtained from Google Scholar. The journals analyzed were published in the last five years, from 2019 to 2024. From the overall analysis in this study, five factors influence anxiety: environmental, intellectual, mental, personality, and individual factors. The impact of anxiety that arises greatly affects the learning process so that the final results in student learning always feel very bad, with the learning outcomes obtained being lower. Efforts that can reduce mathematics anxiety can be grouped to create more conducive lessons, namely, teaching mathematics with various methods that accommodate students' learning styles, not emphasizing memorization in the mathematics learning process, and creating a fun and comfortable mathematics classroom atmosphere.

Abstract

This study analyzes the role of digital learning media in enhancing the effectiveness of mathematics learning using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method on 17 articles that meet the inclusion criteria: (1) published between 2018 and 2024, (2) containing empirical data on mathematics learning, and (3) discussing the use of digital media. Based on the selected and reviewed analysis, four types of digital learning media were identified: web-based media, applications and software, augmented reality (AR), and artificial intelligence (AI). Each type of media has its own characteristics and advantages that support the understanding of mathematical concepts in a more interactive and engaging way. The characteristics of effective learning media include interactivity, ease of access, visual appeal, and the ability to enhance students' interest and understanding. However, challenges such as infrastructure limitations, lack of teacher skills, and dependence on stable internet access hinder optimal implementation. Data analysis was conducted qualitatively and descriptively to identify factors that support and hinder the use of these media in mathematics education. In conclusion, digital learning media hold great potential to improve the quality of learning, provided they are supported by teacher training and adequate infrastructure development.

Abstract

In meeting the needs of modern society, students are required to have several competencies, one of which is Mathematical Literacy. One way to improve students' mathematical literacy skills is to apply a Structured Inquiry-based learning approach. The purpose of this research is to investigate the components in Structured Inquiry learning that can improve students' mathematical literacy skills. The method used was Systematic Literature Review (SLR) of 30 filtered articles. The articles reviewed were sourced from Sinta 1 - Sinta 3 indexed articles, Scopus rank Q1 - Q3, and several sources from the Ministry of Education and Culture. The results show that the Structured Inquiry learning model can be used as one of the approaches in learning to improve students' mathematical literacy skills. Some materials that can be used to maximise student learning outcomes include geometry, arithmetic, and calculation materials. Teacher guidance in applying the structured inquiry learning model will greatly determine student learning outcomes, especially in improving their mathematical literacy skills. Structured inquiry learning is more optimally applied at the elementary and junior high school levels. It is necessary to develop mathematical literacy questions in order to improve students' mathematical literacy skills. It is hoped that future researchers can examine more deeply other learning models that can improve students' mathematical literacy skills.

Abstract

Abstract

Mistakes frequently occur among students when interpreting mathematical problems or engaging with math exercises. This has contributed to the low PISA results in 2022, particularly reflected in a decline in mathematical proficiency, with Indonesia's average score decreasing by 1-3 points compared to previous assessments. Consequently, there is a pressing need to investigate the errors committed by students. This study aims to identify student errors through the lens of Newman's theory while addressing critical thinking ability questions in relation to cognitive style. The research design is descriptive qualitative, as it elucidates the mistakes made by students. The subjects of this study comprised 27 out of 84 seventh-grade students from SMP Negeri 139 Jakarta, who exhibited errors in responding to critical thinking ability questions involving combined material on flat-sided geometric shapes. The findings and conclusions of this study reveal that students with a Field Dependent (FD) cognitive style and those with a Field Independent (FI) cognitive style encounter reading errors, understanding errors, process skill errors, and coding errors; however, students with an FI cognitive style tend to make fewer mistakes than their FD counterparts.

Abstract

Realistik Mathematics Education (RME) stems from the understanding that mathematics is a human activity, with the main goal being to facilitate the transition from informal to formal knowledge through problem-solving in a real-world context. The purpose of this study is to conduct literary analysis related to the relationship between RME and mathematical disposition. Systematic Literature Review (SLR) is the method used. Data collection is carried out by documenting and reviewing every article about the relationship between mathematical and RME dispositions that have this research as part of it. A total of sixteen articles from Google Schoolar, Scopus, and ERIC were used in this experiment. RME is a term used in mathematics that has been published from 2014 to 2024. The study's findings indicate a positive correlation between the RME paradigm and mathematical disposition. Pendekatan RME is also effective in enhancing students' abilities in a constructive way and fostering their self-confidence in the context of mathematical education. Later, mathematical aptitude continues to be the primary factor in enhancing a particular problem in RME.

Abstract

The main goal of learning mathematics is that students have the full range of mathematical skills to pursue higher education and solve problems in everyday life. An approach that can be used is Realistic Mathematics Education (RME). RME is an approach in learning mathematics using situations that contain real experiences or problems. This research aims to define RME, describe the principles and characteristics of RME, and the roles of RME in Indonesia. The method used is Systematic Literature Review (SLR). The result of this study is that the researcher found that RME helps the students to connect mathematics in everyday life so they can improve their mathematical skills as well, and it can help ‘slow learners’ to understand mathematics’ concepts. In addition, RME also can increase students’ affective domain, such as learning independence, self-efficacy, and self-confidence.
