Abstract

Cash flow ratio analysis is useful for detecting financial distress, which occurs as a result of a company having negative cash flow so that it has difficulty meeting its obligations. This study aims to determine the relationship between cash flow ratios and financial distress in telecommunications companies in Indonesia. Research methodology that was used is descriptive study that utilize a quantitative approach. Sources of data are obtained from secondary data, with data processing methodolgy using the Spearman correlation formula and SPPS version 20.0. The results showed that the cash liability ratio, cash need coverage and asset efficiency ratio, and cash to debt ratio had a positive and significant correlation to financial distress as measured by the interest coverage ratio. This means that when the cash flow ratio increases, the level of financial distress will decrease. The positive cash flow ratio is caused by an increase in company cash receipts, especially from operational activities, which have an impact on increasing the company’s ability to pay its debts.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of herbal mineral block (HMB) supplementation containing turmeric flour, black soldier fly (BSF), and micro minerals on the performance and blood profile of Dorper crossbred sheep. Ten growing sheep and ten lactating sheep were divided into two treatment groups (P0: complete feed without HMB supplementation and P1: complete feed with HMB supplementation). The research design used was a factorial completely randomized design (2 × 2) with 5 replications. Factor physiological status of growing and lactating sheep and factor supplementation with and without HMB. The data were analyzed using ANOVA and Duncan’s test. The results showed no interaction between physiological status and HMB supplementation on sheep performance (nutrient intake, initial and final body weight, daily body weight gain, and feed efficiency) and blood profile (hematology, metabolites, and minerals). The physiological status had a very significant effect (p<0.01) on nutrient intake, initial and final body weight, daily body weight gain, feed efficiency, and significantly (p<0.05) on serum phosphorus. Supplementation of HMB significantly (p<0.05) increased serum calcium which was crucial for bone an teeth development in growing sheep and milk production in lactating sheep. Serum phosphorus was higher in growing sheep, supporting their bone growth and energy metabolis compared to lactating sheep as it was diverted to the mammary gland.

Abstract

Cardamom (Amomum cardamomum), the ‘Queen of spices’, is a native Indonesian spice, a type of potential biopharmaceutical currently prospective because of its high selling value, especially for its fruit, with various benefits and its wide use. So far, cardamom essential oil comes from the utilization of its fruit, but the production is more limited, unlike the sustainably produced leaves, therefore, its leaves have the potential to be developed. This study aims to analyze the essential oil yield and 1.8-cineol content of cardamom leaves essential oil (CLEO) grown in agroforestry systems. The CLEO was obtained by steam-water distillation, while the 1.8-cineol content was analyzed by gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The experimental design employed was a Randomized Complete Block Design with three cropping patterns as a treatment and three doses of bokashi fertilizer as blocks. The results showed that the highest yield of CLEO was generated in the sengon + cardamom agroforestry pattern of 3.16%, and the highest content of 1,8-cineol in CLEO was generated in the sengon + cardamom + arrowroot agroforestry pattern of 47.23%, while the lowest yield of CLEO and the 1,8-cineol content were found in the monoculture pattern of 2,02% and 43.16% respectively. Agroforestry practices have the potential to increase 1,8-cineol content and the yield of essential oil in cardamom leaf, which will be prospective in forest management to support forestry multi-business and social forestry programs.

Abstract

The success of forest area rehabilitation requires community involvement. The selection of plant species that are suitable to community preferences will substantially influence the success of rehabilitation efforts. Communities’ preferences for specific plant species may increase their willingness to care the plant. This research explored the importance of participatory plant species selection in supporting forest rehabilitation success of Cahaya Tala-Tala Forest Farmers Group (FFG) in the Bulusaraung Forest Management Unit (FMU), South Sulawesi, Indonesia by applying the agroforestry technique. The study employed the participatory rural appraisal approach in one village and involved 50 respondents. The results indicated that the FFG members’ preferences for specific plant species were categorized as being in the “affected” stage and positioned at the “preference” stage according to the hierarchy of effects model. The participation of the FFG members in forest rehabilitation activities at the Bulusaraung FMU is categorized as the “partnership” level. The selected multipurpose tree species are expected to substantially contribute to the community’s income and help the success of forest rehabilitation activities in Indonesia.
