Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas mengenai pengaruh fasilitas sekolah terhadap kemampuan dan motivasi belajar siswa. Kreativitas siswa dapat diperoleh dalam proses belajar melalui berbagai interaksi dan pengalaman belajar serta didasarkan pada potensi bawaan individu dan pengaruh lingkungan pada dirinya. Aktivitas siswa dalam pembelajaran dapat merangsang kreativitas siswa. Siswa kreatif adalah siswa yang secara konsisten dan terus menerus menghasilkan sesuatu yang kreatif yaitu hasil yang orisinil/asli dan sesuai dengan kebutuhan siswa kreatif adalah siswa yang memiliki rasa ingin tahu, tertarik pada berbagai tugas yang dipersepsikan sebagai tantangan, berani mengambil resiko dan tidak mudah putus asa. Fasilitas adalah fasilitas umum atau sering disingkat Fasum adalah istilah umum yang mengacu pada sarana atau prasarana atau perlengkapan atau alat yang disediakan oleh pemerintah yang dapat digunakan untuk kepentingan bersama dalam melaksanakan kegiatan sehari-hari, sedangkan seseorang yang membantu sekelompok orang memahami tujuan bersama mereka dan membantu mereka membuat rencana untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut tanpa mengambil posisi tertentu dalam diskusi disebut fasilitator. Oleh karena itu peneliti membahas sesuai dengan judul apakah fasilitas dapat menciptakan siswa yang kreatif? dengan melakukan penelitian di sekolah yang ada di wilayah Simalungun yaitu MTs Nurul Hikmah Tinjowan PTPN IV, sedangkan seseorang yang membantu sekelompok orang memahami tujuan bersama mereka dan membantu mereka membuat rencana untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut tanpa mengambil posisi tertentu dalam diskusi disebut fasilitator

Abstract

Communication competence is essential for teenagers’ adaptation and affected by how teenagers used their language in daily communication. This research aimed to identify the difference of communication competency between bilingual teenagers and monolingual teenagers. The type of this research was quantitative with comparative purpose. The population of this research was the young teenagers in Medan. Research’s samples were students of SMAIT Bunayya as monolingual teenagers and students of MA Taruna Qur’an as bilingual teenagers. The number of sample in this research was 20 students; 10 bilingual students and 10 monolingual selected using the method of simple random sampling. The measuring instruments used in the form of communication abilities’ scale was based on the components of communicative competency proposed by Spitzberg and Cupach (in Greene & Burleson, 2003; Payne, 2005), namely knowledge, motivation, and skill. The result of data research using independent sample t-test showed that there was a difference of communication competency between bilingual and monolingual teenagers, especially on knowledge and motivation. As a matter of discussion, this research was conducted in the setting of a still monolingual society.

Abstract

During the Covid-19 pandemic, it is necessary for every educational institution to carry out online learning at home. To increase student achievement, the creativity of teachers in the online learning process is needed, especially in the use of the WhatsApp application. Teacher creativity is the competence possessed by teachers in teaching not only mastering the material, but a teacher must also be able to be innovative, creative and combine in the use of media, methods, strategies and a comfortable and unsaturated learning atmosphere. The purpose of this study is to find out how teacher’s creativity in using WhatsApp to increase students' ability in English and to know the inhibiting and supporting factors for teacher's creativity to increase students' Ability in English at grade 8-1 of MTs Parmiyatu Wassa'adah. The place of this research is at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Swasta Parmiyatu Wassa'adah. The data collected by the researcher are information that is in line and connected with the formulation of the research problem.  There are two sources of data obtained, namely primary data sources and secondary data sources. As for the details of the results of the study 1) the authors found that teachers in the field of English studies tried to be as creative as possible in every subject matter taught to improve students' English skills, this was proven by the use of all the features on the WhatsApp application. The features used are Voice notes, Audio/video calls, Text message, WhatsApp status, striker, Gif, photo and video. Each application used is adjusted to the needs of the subject matter. 2) The inhibiting faced by teachers in the field of English studies during learning using the WhatsApp application were caused by two factors, namely internal factors and external factors. 3) Supporting factors to overcome the barriers to creativity of English teachers in using WhatsApp through research, the authors found several supporting factors including providing sanctions, using audio features, video calls and documents, using WhatsApp features, registering students to get free quotas, tolerance, and establish communication with the families of students

Abstract

In the process of learning English, there are many techniques and media that can be used. The methods and media in learning are made in a variety of ways so that learning English is not monotonous, and student motivation in learning English can be increased. In this study, the researcher discussed about the effectiveness of the whispering game in EFL learners. In the learning process of English, the 'Whispering Game' can increase student motivation, make the learning process more attractive to students so that it can improve the ability of students to learn English exactly. In conclusion, the researcher will apply the steps, advantages and disadvantages of this game. Abstrak Dalam proses pembelajaran bahasa Inggris, ada terdapat beberapa teknik dan media yang dapat digunakan. Metode-metode dan media dalam pembelajaran dibuat dengan berbagai cara agar pembelajaran bahasa Inggris tidak monoton, dan motivasi murid dalam belajar bahasa Inggris dapat ditingkatkan. Dalam pembahasan ini, peneliti akan mendiskusikan tentang keefektifan dari permainan whispering (berbisik) pada pembelajar bahasa Inggris. Dalam proses pembelajaran bahasa Inggris, “permainan berbisik” dapat meningkatkan motivasi murid, membuat proses pembelajaran semakin atraktif sehingga meningkatkan kemampuan murid dalam belajar bahasa Inggris secara tepat. Pada kesimpulan, peneliti akan menjelaskan langkah-langkah, kelebihan dan kekurangan dari permainan ini.

Abstract

This study determined students' perception of the use of quizlet application in students' vocabulary mastery. Quizlet is a suitable smartphone-based learning used for learners at various levels of education and at various levels disciplines, not only limited to vocabulary learning. It described the students' perception of the use of quizlet application on the vocabulary of students at Junior High Schools in Bandar Huluan, totaling 20 students. This study used a qualitative descriptive research method in which this research described something as it is by using words, such as observation and interviews to 20 students. The results indicated that quizlet has several benefits in the process of teaching English, especially vocabulary. From the students’ perception, it can be concluded that 15 students said that learning vocabulary by using the quizlet application was very comfortable, interesting and easy to understand. On the other hand, 5 students said that learning vocabulary by using the quizlet application was a little difficult to understand. There are several factors why this can happen, including obstacles in operating the quizlet application such as the lack of student knowledge about how to use the features of the quizlet application, and also the lack of internet network access on their smartphones.

Abstract

Currently, learning content that is more tangible and easily understood by students is learning by using media. The purpose of this research is to prioritize the needs that refer to the level of achievement standards in the form of stimulation or skills of elementary school students in toilet training habituation with correct ethics. The method used is an innovative working method. The researcher invited 10 students to be tested through interviews containing 10 questions about aspects of toilet training skills. Based on the results of interview assessments and practice trials on toilet training videos, there are very satisfactory results, namely, 90% of students are declared very good and some of the students are good, so it can be concluded that learning by using video media is feasible to be used or tested on students. This innovative research resulted in a product in the form of an interactive video CD entitled "Adab Toilet Training". This video explains the stages of using the toilet when you want to defecate. This video is accompanied by interesting sounds and colors as well as sounds that invite children to interact directly so that children can focus more and easily understand the contents of the video.

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to determine the Alphabet Poem in teaching English. This paper investigates how Alphabet Poem knowledge can help to teach English in English Language Teaching (ELT). The author will conduct a literature review method. The purpose of this paper was to study how alphabet poem can enhancing student’s learning style. The method by using library research and a philosophical or pedagogical approach. The results showed that the role of alphabet poem in teaching English is suitable for learning styles (visual, auditory, and kinesthetic). English students will benefit from the knowledge of alphabet poems and how to teach teaching materials in three different learning styles. The applied linguistic content helps language learners better understand alphabet poems in ELT. The study draws the attention of teachers to be more concerned with the communication condition of students by the creative poem and to the fact that teachers cannot act as expected unless they are each of their learning styles. The teacher brings and teaches the alphabet poem to the students so the students who receive it will also imitate how to make the alphabet poem again so that through learning English it becomes a lesson that is liked by students and students can fluently in English.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of the snake and ladder game on Islamic history Fathu Mecca learning outcomes based on observations at the SD Muhammadiyah in Indonesia. Students have been shown to acquire standard competency through the study of Islamic history. This course is very important to build a strong Muslim identity, especially in Islamic School Muhammadiyah. Meanwhile, the snake and ladder game has been used by several educators in the teaching and learning process. This game positively influences students’ learning outcomes. Therefore, the authors developed and integrated Islamic history into the snake and ladder game board. This research was a quantitative study conducted on 60 fifth-grade students divided into experiment and control classes. Furthermore, the data were collected using observation, interview, and t-test hypotheses. The results showed that the snake and ladder game positively affects students’ learning outcomes in studying Islamic history. Based on the result, this game provides opportunities for students to explore, identify, practice, and understand concepts. The teachers are expected to encourage students to develop skills for discovering knowledge through an inspiring and fun learning atmosphere.

Abstract

This research is aimed to find out students’ difficulties in speaking English at tenth grade of SMA Swasta Nurul Iman Tanjung Morawa. This research is tried to find the students’ difficulties in speaking English, the cause of students’ difficulties in speaking English, and the solution of students’ difficulties in speaking English. This research was used qualitative method. The respondent of this research is the students class X-IIS 3 that consist 10 students. The respondent was chose by used purposive sampling technique. The data collected from the observation, interview, and questionnaire. The questionnaire used Linkert Scale that consists of 15 questions. The result of this research showed that the most from respondent have difficulties in speaking English. The students have difficulties in pronunciation, lack of grammar, difficult to memorize vocabulary, afraid to speak, shy to speak in front of the class, not confidence, and have no motivation in learning speaking English. Furthermore, the cause of students’ difficulties of the research that happened are the lack of grammar, lack of motivation, shyness, anxiety, and afraid making mistakes. The researcher also found the solution of students’ difficulties in speaking English, namely the students needed to condusive class, the new strategies from the teachen when teaching speaking English, and also the teacher must give more knowledge for the students.

Abstract

Merebaknya virus COVID-19 membawa pengaruh negatif bagi seluruh aspek kehidupan masyarakat, seperti kemerosotan dari perekonomian masyarakat. Selain itu, pandemi juga berdampak pada sistem pendidikan di Indonesia. Pengimplementasian pembelajaran online tidak terlepas dari beragam perdebatan, tidak hanya menyangkut sarana dan prasarana tetapi juga menyangkut tujuan dari pendidikan itu sendiri. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menggali permasalahan pengaplikasian pembelajaran selama masa pandemi dengan menggunakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Studi literatur ini bertujuan untuk menguraikan kesulitan belajar online yang dirasakan oleh pendidik, peserta didik, dan orang tua peserta didik selama wabah COVID-19 dan solusi yang harus diselesaikan mereka. Data diuraikan secara kualitatif dengan interaksi model, meliputi pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Buku teks berbentuk cetak maupun artikel online dari website jurnal berkala, peraturan perundang-undangan, dan sumber signifikan lainnya menjadi sumber data penelitian ini.  Adapun masalah yang dihadapi yaitu siswa mengalamiketerbatasan perangkat seperti gadget atau komputer, kurang antusias untuk mengikuti online pembelajaran, tidak adanya akses internet, besarnya biaya kuota internet.Kata kunci: problema, pembelajaran, daring, pandemi.
