WhatsApp is a free messaging and calling application that can be downloaded to mobile phones all over the world that supports the feature. It is straightforward, trustworthy, and secure. WhatsApp enables us to exchange text, voice, and audio-visual (video) messages. However, text message recipients often fail to understand the intended meaning of a text message because the text messages are not provided with intonation and direct expression, resulting in the recipient’s difficulty interpreting the message's intended meaning. This study aimed to find out the functions of emojis in WhatsApp text messages. Interpretative qualitative was used as the research methodology in this study. The data source used is the results of screenshots of chat activities on the WhatsApp application. The study came up with the findings that the primary function of emojis in WhatsApp text messages is to show and emphasize emotion, expression, and feeling like happiness, sadness, apology, embarrassment, support, anger, mockery, gratitude, criticism, humorous, etc. that cannot be spoken verbally or conveyed/shown directly.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the many forms of technology that are utilized by instructors of English at MTS Swasta Al-Amin, as well as the various forms of ICT that are utilized by those teachers. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with interviews and observations serving as the primary data collection tools. The observation was used to observe the English instructor, and the interview was used to learn about the types of ICT that were used by the teachers. This study focused on two educators in the seventh and eighth grades who used information and communication technology (ICT) into their English lessons. The findings of this study indicate that English instructors make use of many technological tools in their lessons, such as lcd monitors, laptops, speakers, the internet, google classroom, email, whatsapp, facebook, instagram, youtube, power point presentations, focus keys, Microsoft Word, and podcasts. The instructors favored using technology because it kept the students motivated and interested, as well as because it assisted the instructors in displaying materials, sending assignments, and providing notifications everywhere. According to the findings of the research described above, one may draw the conclusion that the integration of technology, specifically ICT, into the educational process has made it easier for educators to present, design, and develop instructional material and tools that are helpful for students' learning motivation.

This research was conducted to describe the intercultural pragmatic perspective in the grade 8 Indonesian Junior High School EFL textbook entitled “When English Rings a Bell”. Researchers hope that the result of this study can increase teachers’ awareness’ of interculturality in Indonesia, so that they are able to provide language material that can be linked to the learning process. In this study, researcher used content analysis. The text can be in visual form which is used as a communication tool such as documents, film, picture, and book. In this study, researcher used a book entitled “When Rings a Bell” 8th grade Junior high school. In general, this book has been previously used by Junior high school students in Indonesia which was designed by the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia in 2014 but revised again in 2018. Researcher used Moran’s (2001) theory as a data analysis on cultural aspect in English textbook.Keywords: intercultural perspective, EFL textbook, junior high school

Current technological developments require students and teachers to increasingly explore their abilities in English using currently available applications. This study focuses on analyzing articles that discuss the use of Rosetta Stone in Language Learning applications in teaching English for Foreign Languages (EFL). The aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of the Rosetta Stone Application in teaching English to speakers of other languages (EFL) using data from a variety of journals.. The method used was descriptive method with Documentary Research Design. Documentary research is a type of scholarly exploration that inspects specific exploration subjects utilizing essential sources like texts and notes. Based on six previous journals from various studies in the world such as Indonesia, Iran, Nigeria and Russia. The data illustrates the fact of using Rosetta Stone based on the research results of six researchers who have been published in journals published around the world. The results that can be drawn based on the research report are the use of the Rosetta Stone application in increasing students' abilities in learning English as a foreign language effectively. There are substantial variations in learning English as a Foreign Language between individuals who have been trained utilizing the Rosetta Stone Application, such as speaking, listening, writing, vocabulary knowledge, and pronunciation.

Pelatihan Perancangan Kuis Berbasis ICT merupakan sebuah pengabdian masyarakat yang bertujuan untuk memberikan dukungan dan peningkatan kompetensi pedagogik kepada guru-guru Madrasah di lingkungan masyarakat sekitar. Pelatihan ini bertujuan untuk memfasilitasi penggunaan Teknologi Informasi dan Komunikasi (ICT) dalam pembelajaran, dengan fokus pada perancangan kuis berbasis ICT. Selama pelatihan, dilakukan serangkaian kegiatan, dengan metode PAR termasuk pemaparan konsep perancangan kuis berbasis ICT, praktik langsung dalam pembuatan kuis, dan penerapan kuis dalam pengajaran. Guru-guru Madrasah dari berbagai tingkatan pendidikan dilibatkan dalam pelatihan ini. Hasil dari pengabdian ini adalah peningkatan kompetensi pedagogik guru-guru Madrasah dalam merancang dan mengintegrasikan kuis berbasis ICT dalam pembelajaran mereka. Para guru mengalami peningkatan pemahaman tentang bagaimana menggunakannya sebagai alat pembelajaran yang efektif dan merespon positif terhadap perubahan ini dalam pendekatan mereka. Selain itu, pelatihan ini juga memberikan dampak positif pada siswa yang belajar di Madrasah tersebut. Mereka lebih terlibat dalam proses pembelajaran dan mendapatkan manfaat dari penggunaan kuis berbasis ICT dalam meningkatkan pemahaman mereka terhadap materi pelajaran. Hasil survei kepuasan menunjukkan bahwa guru-guru puas dengan pelatihan ini dan merasa lebih percaya diri dalam menggunakan ICT dalam pembelajaran. Pelatihan ini juga telah membuka peluang kolaborasi yang lebih baik antara Madrasah dan masyarakat dalam mendukung pendidikan. Pelatihan ini menggambarkan bahwa pengabdian masyarakat dalam bentuk pelatihan perancangan kuis berbasis ICT memiliki dampak positif dalam meningkatkan kompetensi pedagogik guru-guru Madrasah dan kualitas pembelajaran di lingkungan Madrasah. Ini adalah langkah positif menuju peningkatan kualitas pendidikan di masyarakat sekitar melalui pemanfaatan teknologi.

Technology has aided in the development of learning media with a variety of media creations as media for students to be more engaged in learning to use a laptop or smartphone with Android capability by installing the application in question. In this study, the use of games or gamification applications in learning English, specifically digital scrabble games, is discussed. This study attempts to investigate the use of scrabble to support students' motivation and vocabulary acquisition based on teachers' perspectives. The subjects for this research were 12 (twelve) English teachers of North Sumatera. In conducting this research, the researcher used the case study methodology. The data were collected through an open questionnaire requiring a lengthy response from the respondent and a closed questionnaire with an alternative answer decided by the questionnaire's creator, namely yes or no. The results showed that, in accordance with the teachers' perceptions, utilizing scrabble can motivate students to study because they become interested, feel challenged while using it, and want to keep playing. Due to the students' ability to learn and assimilate new words through scrabble, their vocabulary acquisition also enhanced.

In the process of learning English, there are many techniques and media that can be used. The methods and media in learning are made in a variety of ways so that learning English is not monotonous, and student motivation in learning English can be increased. In this study, the researcher discussed about the effectiveness of the whispering game in EFL learners. In the learning process of English, the 'Whispering Game' can increase student motivation, make the learning process more attractive to students so that it can improve the ability of students to learn English exactly. In conclusion, the researcher will apply the steps, advantages and disadvantages of this game. Abstrak Dalam proses pembelajaran bahasa Inggris, ada terdapat beberapa teknik dan media yang dapat digunakan. Metode-metode dan media dalam pembelajaran dibuat dengan berbagai cara agar pembelajaran bahasa Inggris tidak monoton, dan motivasi murid dalam belajar bahasa Inggris dapat ditingkatkan. Dalam pembahasan ini, peneliti akan mendiskusikan tentang keefektifan dari permainan whispering (berbisik) pada pembelajar bahasa Inggris. Dalam proses pembelajaran bahasa Inggris, “permainan berbisik” dapat meningkatkan motivasi murid, membuat proses pembelajaran semakin atraktif sehingga meningkatkan kemampuan murid dalam belajar bahasa Inggris secara tepat. Pada kesimpulan, peneliti akan menjelaskan langkah-langkah, kelebihan dan kekurangan dari permainan ini.

This research investigates an overview of students' difficulties in writing descriptive text through linguistic and psychology problems. This research presents a case study as qualitative research of students in eighth grade of SMP Darussalam Medan. The sample comprised 10 students (4 males and 6 females) through purposive sampling. This study used observation, documentation, and interview. In this study, data collection from each instrument was as follows: document data collection through student descriptive writing and direct interview data collection via video call on WhatsApp. The data analysis procedure of this study was followed by Miles and Hubermen in 1984 which covered data reduction, data interpretation, and drawing a conclusion. Based on the observation result supported by the document and interview through the triangulation method, students found difficulties in using punctuation and capitalization in writing descriptive. The students’ felt difficulty in using grammar lack of vocabulary and mechanics. In addition, the practice of writing essays also makes students skilled in writing. With practice, students will know the difficulties they face in writing to know the quality of their writing. Keywords: Difficulties, Writing skill, Descriptive text.

The purpose of this study was to find out young people who married at an early age in the village of Petangguhan, and so that in the future there would be no more cases of early marriage in the village of Petaguhan. From a reproductive health point of view, adolescents who marry early will have a greater impact on reproductive health and even psychologically. The method used in this research is a type of qualitative research. The approach in this study uses a sociological approach that is related to one community with another. Primary data sources were obtained directly from the results of research interviews conducted with the health agency in the village of Petangguhan. Data on the dispensation rate for marriage were obtained from the Religious Courts, and some data from the village office, namely the village head who is also the secretary of the village of Petangguhan, Kab. Poor. The results of this study indicate that there are several impacts of early marriage, namely the causes of high maternal and infant mortality, low birth weight, birth injuries, and birth complications that occur in adolescents. prevention of early marriage, they want to carry out a youth posyandu in the village of Petaguhan.

This research investigates how English teachers at Budi Satrya School view project-based learning. The strategy used in this study to gather data from interviews is qualitative. Next, information was gathered to determine how Budi Satrya School teachers felt about Project Based Learning. The findings demonstrate that the Budi Satrya School students benefited from the teachers' application of project-based learning. Additionally, according to this research, children become self-regulated, motivated, cooperative, critical, and communicative learners when they interact with the actual world. Project-based learning has greater beneficial effects than traditional teaching techniques. Project-Based Learning has many benefits over traditional teaching methods, even though it cannot be used with all selected materials.
