Abstract

Abstract

Miscarriage is one of the major reproductive health problems that contribute to maternal morbidity and mortality in Indonesia. This study aims to explore the relationship between prenatal check-ups, medical measurements, and the risk of miscarriage in women who have experienced pregnancy. Using data from the Indonesian Family Life Survey (IFLS) 2014-2015, this study involved 14,952 female respondents. Multivariate analysis showed that age, hemoglobin test, fetal height measurement, blood pressure measurement, tetanus toxoid (TT) injection, and iron supplementation significantly affected the risk of miscarriage (p < 0.05). The main findings of this study were the age, Hb test, fetal height examination, pelvic examination, weighing, height measurement, blood pressure measurement, administration of TT injections, and administration of iron pills associated with miscarriages among experienced pregnant women. However, limited access to health services and low levels of education about the importance of early pregnancy check-ups remain significant challenges, especially in rural areas. This study recommends increasing public awareness, education, and access to reproductive health services as an effort to reduce miscarriage rates in Indonesia.

Abstract

Antisocial behavior is a deviation that violates social norms and can harm individuals and the environment. This study aims to explore the perceptions of first-year students of STIKes Cirebon towards antisocial behavior. A qualitative descriptive approach was used, with data collection through in-depth interviews with five first-year students of the D3 Nursing program aged 18-20 years. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The results showed that students had negative perceptions of antisocial behavior, which was considered a violation of norms and a threat to security. Forms of this behavior include intimidation, physical violence, social isolation, and substance abuse, with the leading causes including internal factors such as mental health and external factors such as environmental influences and lack of family supervision. This study emphasizes the importance of family support, social skills, and a positive environment to prevent antisocial behavior. Educational institutions are expected to develop programs to improve student empathy and social skills and build cooperation with families and communities. Parents' education about the importance of supervision also needs to be strengthened. Further research is expected to develop a culture-based and local approach to preventing antisocial behavior.

Abstract

Stunting is a significant issue that can impact a child’s future quality of life, affecting both brain and physical development, as well as adult productivity and learning capacity. Behavioral factors play a critical role in stunting prevalence. This study aims to examine how behavioral factors affect stunting in children under the age of five. A case-control study design was used, with a population of 118 stunted children. The sample consisted of 30 stunted children as the case group and 30 non-stunted children as the control group, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through interviews, and analysis was conducted using Odds Ratio and bivariate analysis. The results showed a significant correlation between stunting and maternal awareness (p = 0.007; OR = 4.571), a history of exclusive breastfeeding (p = 0.004; OR = 4.929), and dietary factors (p = 0.018; OR = 3.596). However, there was no significant correlation between stunting and maternal education level (p = 0.108; OR = 0.416). Children without a history of exclusive breastfeeding were nearly five times more likely to experience stunting (OR = 4.929). It is recommended that community health centers (Puskesmas) enhance health promotion efforts to prevent stunting linked to parental behavior.

Abstract

Pregnancy classes are crucial for helping pregnant women address the physical and mental challenges they face, which can affect the birthing process. However, many women do not attend these classes. This research analyzes the factors influencing maternal behavior regarding participation in pregnancy classes. This quantitative study employs a cross-sectional approach, involving 403 pregnant women as subjects. A simple random sampling method was used to select 80 participants, with data collected through interviews. The Chi-Square test was utilized for data analysis.Findings indicate that 87.5% of pregnant women had low education levels, while 66.3% displayed good knowledge about pregnancy. Most participants (71.3%) reported inadequate facilities and infrastructure, though 66.3% received support from their husbands. Additionally, 66.3% of women were not actively involved in the classes. A significant relationship was found between education (p=0.010), knowledge (p=0.010), facilities (p=0.000), and husband's support (p=0.000) with participation in pregnancy classes. It is recommended that pregnant women actively engage in these classes voluntarily. Community health centers should enhance awareness to encourage participation, enabling early detection of pregnancy and childbirth complications.
