Abstract

Academic performance in elementary school is influenced by various factors such as gender, age, and socioeconomic status. However, how these variables interact and impact learning outcomes remains inconclusive. This study aimed to (1) summarize trends and the role of gender, age, and socioeconomic status in academic ability reported in Scopus-indexed journals, and (2) describe their specific influence at the elementary school level. The literature search was conducted using thirteen articles published between 2017 and 2024 met the eligibility criteria. This study employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) using the PRISMA framework, encompassing four stages: identification, screening, eligibility, and inclusion. Article selection was based on relevance, research design, and publication date. Descriptive and comparative analyses were applied to examine study trends, country contributions, and findings. Results revealed that most studies used quantitative approaches, with Spain contributing the highest number of publications. The findings indicated that gender differences had a minimal impact on academic achievement, while age and socioeconomic status showed a more significant influence. These results highlight the need for educational policies that focus on reducing economic disparities and addressing age-related academic needs. This review serves as a useful reference for future researchers exploring factors that influence academic performance in primary education.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of petanque games in improving motor coordination among fifth-grade elementary school students, particularly hand–eye and hand–foot coordination. A quasi-experimental design (nonequivalent control group design) was employed, involving 60 students selected through purposive sampling. The experimental group participated in Physical Education (PJOK) integrated with petanque games, while the control group received conventional instruction. Data were collected through coordination tests administered at pre-test and post-test stages and analyzed using paired sample t-tests and independent sample t-tests (α = 0.05). The results indicated that both groups had comparable baseline abilities (p > 0.05). After the intervention, the experimental group showed substantially greater improvements in hand–eye coordination (75.8 to 85.8; 21.60% increase) and hand–foot coordination (73.4 to 83.4; 21.30% increase) compared to the control group (7.10% and 8.20%, respectively). These findings demonstrate a strong practical effect of petanque-based learning on students’ motor coordination. In conclusion, petanque games are effective as a precision-based instructional strategy in physical education to enhance students’ coordination skills. Future research is recommended to employ more rigorous experimental designs and include additional variables such as balance and concentration.

Abstract

This research was conducted with the aim of analyzing the position of teacher creativity in an effort to mediate the influence of the practice of Human Resource Management (HRM) which can be carried out by schools to improve teacher performance. This type of research is an explanatory research and also uses a quantitative approach. The variables in this research include several aspects such as the practice of implementing HRM, Teacher Creativity, and the performance of Sports Physical Education Teachers. This research was conducted by reaching a number of 102 Sports Physical Education teachers consisting of several levels such as elementary, middle, and high schools in Malang City, Malang Regency and Batu City. Information can be obtained by distributing questionnaires either directly (offline) or online. The analysis of data information was carried out by researchers using SEM-PLS with the WARP PLS 7 application Meanwhile, the results of this research indicate the findings that the practice of HRM does not have a direct influence on the performance of Sports Physical Education Teachers with a significance value of 0.30 and the effect of HR Practice on The performance of sports teachers mediated by teacher creativity has a significance value of <0.001, which means that the teacher's creativity fully mediates the effect of HR practice on the performance of sports teachers.

Abstract

Sports coaches hold integral roles in sports organizations. As important figures for athletes, coaches are responsible for maintaining athletes’ motivation which will drive their performances in matches. To motivate athletes, coaches must possess good competence which reflect their quality as coaches. This study analyzes the effect of coach competency on athlete motivation. Coach competency in this study is represented by four indicators: motivation competency, game-strategy competency, technique competency, and character-building competency. Each and every indicator’s effect on athlete motivation was investigated. The instrument in this study used a questionnaire with 42 question items. This study is an explanatory research conducted on 114 student basketball athletes in Indonesia as respondents. Data analysis was conducted using SEM-PLS on the WARP-PLS 7 software. The results of this research show that overall, motivation competency, technique competency, character building competency, and game-strategy competency which represents the coach competency variable have a positive effect on athlete motivation (p<0.05), while motivation competency has no effect on athlete motivation (p>0.05). Game strategy competency, technique competency, and character building competency has positive effects on athlete motivation (p<0.05). This research contributes to increasing scientific knowledge among coaches and athletes about the importance of competence for the motivational aspect. The limitation in this study is that the sample used only comes from basketball athletes so it is not yet known whether there is a similar relationship between the competence and motivation of other sports coaches. Therefore, future research can examine the relationship between the competence and motivation of coaches in sports such as football, volleyball, and handball.
