Abstract

Introduction: Based on its type, salt consists of; industrial salt, curing salt, table salt, and consumption salt. Consumable salt can be used as an alternative material in the flotation method. It has been proven in previous research (2021) that salt consumption can cause intestinal nematode eggs to float. The concentration used in the research was 32%. The aim is to find out the fastest time for the brand of salt consumed in the intestinal nematode egg flotation process. Method: This research is an experimental laboratory research, using samples of consumption salt with a concentration of 32%, adding a suspension of intestinal nematode worm eggs, then observing the flotation. Results; There is no time difference between JPL and BTM brands of salt because consuming both types of salt from the first 10 minutes of the experiment can cause flotation until the last minute of the experiment, namely the 40th minute, still causes flotation. Conclusion ; The results of the experiment guarantee that the two types (brands) of salt consumed are; JPL and BTM with a concentration of 32% can both cause intestinal nematode eggs to float, starting from the first 10 minutes to 40 minutes

Abstract

Dental health education is a crucial preventive measure in shaping healthy lifestyle behaviors from an early age. The success of education depends not only on the content of the material, but also on the effectiveness of the media and methods used to convey the message in an interactive and easily understandable way to children. This study aims to determine the changes in the index before and after education on how to brush teeth at Global Mandiri Kindergarten. This was a pre-experimental study with a one-group pretest–posttest design involving a total sample of 57 kindergarten B students. The intervention consisted of education on the purpose of brushing teeth, choosing the right toothbrush, brushing techniques (roll technique), brushing duration, and the use of fluoride toothpaste. The debris index was examined before and after the interactive education with the Playstore GigiKuHartaKu program. Results: Examination before the education showed a moderate to poor debris index category. After the intervention, there was a change in the debris index category to good and moderate. There was a significant decrease in the debris index from 2.11 to 0.711, with a p-value of 0.001 (p<0.05). Conclusion: The intervention, in the form of interactive and structured dental education, significantly improved dental hygiene in young children. These findings reinforce the importance of promotional education in the school environment as the foundation for long-term healthy living behaviors.

Stunting children are susceptible to disease, have difficulty in physical and cognitive development, and are at risk of developing degenerative diseases as adults. The prevalence of stunting in 2021 was 0.95%, 2022 was 1.4% and 2023 was 1.69%. The aim of this study was to determine the trend of maternal employment and education in stunted and non-stunted toddlers. Methods: This type of research is descriptive research with a cross-sectional study design. The population of the study was all toddlers in the coastal area of Kendari City. The sample was part of toddlers in the coastal area of Kendari City in 2024, consisting of 35 intervention groups and 35 control groups. Data were collected using questionnaires and descriptive data analysis. Results: Mothers' jobs were not working, namely as housewives, as many as 85.7% in the intervention group and 80% in the control group were housewives. Most of the mother’s education in the intervention and control groups, most of them were high school graduates, namely 45.6% in the intervention group and 54.1% in the control group. Abstract

This study addresses the vital role of information as a reproductive health right and emphasizes the responsibility of family planning officers, including health workers, to disseminate accurate information for ensuring public reproductive health. The research focuses on evaluating the effectiveness of SITEPIS Contraception, an online information service designed to aid family planning officers in conveying contraceptive information. SITEPIS is a web application offering comprehensive information on contraception, medical eligibility criteria, and a live chat service. This study involves 28 family planning officers at sub-district and village levels in Bogor and West Lombok districts. Employing a descriptive research approach, the study includes socialization events introducing Sitepis Contraception, encouraging usage, and collecting officers' evaluations. Results indicate positive feedback from all officers, citing the website's appealing design, user-friendly accessibility, and essential features for effective information delivery. Despite challenges related to internet network support in certain areas, officers express willingness to use the SITEPIS website for their community information duties. Notably, while face-to-face interaction is preferred by most officers, SITEPIS contraception serves as a valuable tool for information dissemination. The study underscores the underutilization of online information as the primary method among family planning officers in Indonesia. Despite this, it recognizes the potential of online platforms, like SITEPIS, in reaching diverse societal levels. The findings emphasize the need for further examination of SITEPIS Contraception from the community's perspective, the primary target audience, to enhance its effectiveness. In conclusion, the study advocates for the integration of online information tools to empower family planning officers in fulfilling their crucial role as information providers.

Abstract

Chronic energy deficiency (CED) is a nutritional problem characterized by an upper arm circumference of ≤ 23.5 cm. CED in pregnant women results in pregnancy complications and risks giving birth to babies with low birth weight. Efforts to overcome chronic energy deficiency can be done by providing assistance in the form of education and providing additional food in the form of moringa biscuits on an ongoing basis. Therefore, this research aims to determine the effect of nutritional assistance on the upper arm circumference of pregnant women who experience chronic energy deficiency in the coastal area of Kendari City. This type of research is a quasi experimental design of two groups pre test-post test with control. The sample was pregnant women in the coastal area of Kendari City, consisting of 35 cases and 35 controls. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling. Upper arm circumference data was obtained using an upper arm circumference tape. The results of this study showed that the average upper arm circumference of pregnant women in the intervention group before assistance was 21.19 cm with the smallest size being 21 cm and the largest upper arm circumference being 23 cm and after nutritional assistance the average upper arm circumference was obtained. 23.97 cm. Then in the control group, the average upper arm circumference before nutritional assistance was 26.34 cm and after assistance it was 27.26 cm. The results of the Mann Whitney test obtained a p value of 0.000. The conclusion of this research is that nutritional assistance can increase the upper arm circumference of pregnant women in the coastal areas of Kendari City..
