Abstract

This study aims to analyze the mathematical problem-solving ability of grade VII students on ratio materials using Polya problem-solving steps. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach involving 28 grade VII students of one of the State Junior High Schools in Sumedang Regency as participants. The instrument employed consisists of three descriptive test questions designed to assess students’ abilities in understanding problems, planning solutions, executing those plans, and evaluating the outcomes of their problem-solving processes. The results of the study show that students with high abilities are able to solve each problem well, while students with agile skills experience difficulties at almost all stages, especially in understanding problems and developing solution plans. Mistakes that are often found in students with low ability include a lack of understanding of the concept of ratios and an inability to organize relevant information.

Abstract

Permasalahan prioritas berdasarkan temuan tim setelah melakukan observasi dalam kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah mengubah mindset masyarakat dalam mengelola sampah. Selama ini paradigma masyarakat dalam mengelola sampah masih sangat konvensional/kuno “KUMPUL – ANGKUT – BUANG”. Paradigm ini, mengakibatkan tumpukan sampah. Permasalahan selanjutnya dalam pengabdian ini adalah revitalisasi Bank Sampah Unit. Selain itu, Selain permasalahan terkait sampah, KK miskin ekstrim di Kelurahan Cipameungpeuk juga sangat tinggi. Oleh karena itu, perlu adanya program pembinaan yang dapat mengatasi ketiga permasalahan tersebut. Adapun, program yang dipilih adalah membangun ekonomi sirkular melalui pengelolaan sampah. Tujuan dari pengabdian ini adalah mengubah mindset masyarakat dalam pengelolaan sampah menjadi “PILAH - KUMPUL - JUAL”, terbentuknya kepengurusan baru dan terbangunnya ekonomi sirkular. Metode yang digunakan pada program pengabdian ini adalah gabungan dari metode pelatihan dan pendampingan. Hasil yang diperoleh dari program pengabdian ini adalah kesadaran masyarakat yang meningkat dalam pengelolaan sampah, terbentuknya pengurus baru Bank Sampah Unit Wahana Lestari, terdapat berbagai inovasi dari masyarakat dalam memanfaatkan sampah yang secara langsung program ini meningkatkan pendapatan masyarakat Kelurahan Cipameungpeuk. Program ini tidak hanya selesai selama 4 bulan, tetapi dilakukan pendampingan secara berkelanjutan

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa SMP ditinjau dari resiliensi matematis pada materi perbandingan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan sampel penelitian terdiri dari 30 siswa kelas VIII A SMP Negeri 1 Surian. Sedangkan subjeknya diambil sebanyak 6 siswa yang masing-masing memiliki resiliensi matematis tinggi, sedang dan rendah. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan purposive sampling. Untuk memperoleh informasi mendalam, tahapan penelitian yaitu 1) memberikan angket resiliensi matematis, 2) memberikan soal tes koneksi matematis, dan 3) wawancara. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa siswa dengan kategori resiliensi matematis tinggi dan sedang mampu menerapkan hubungan konsep matematis dengan kehidupan sehari-hari, sedangkan siswa dengan kategori resiliensi rendah tidak dapat menyelesaikan soal koneksi matematis dengan baik pada setiap indikatornya.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK) dalam konteks pengajaran matematika. Kemampuan berpikir kreatif adalah kompetensi penting di era globalisasi, khususnya bagi siswa SMK yang diarahkan untuk terjun langsung ke dunia kerja. Penelitian ini menerapkan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif, dengan melibatkan siswa kelas XI sebanyak 27 orang di salah satu SMK di Kabupaten Indramayu sebagai subjek penelitian. Data dikumpulkan melalui pemberian tes berupa empat soal uraian yang mencakup 4 indikator utama kemampuan berpikir kreatif, yaitu: kelancaran (fluency), keluwesan (flexibility), keaslian (originality), dan elaborasi (elaboration). Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa pada materi sistem persamaan linear dua variabel masih tergolong rendah , dengan rata-rata 43,5% siswa telah mencapai skor maksimum. Persentase pada indikator keaslian (originality) yaitu 56%, indikator kelancaran (fluency) yaitu 52%, indikator keluwesan (flexibility) 48%, dan persentase terendah ditemukan pada indikator elaborasi (elaboration) sebanyak 18%. Hasil ini diharapkan dapat membantu pendidik dalam mendesain pembelajaran yang lebih efektif untuk meningkatkan kreativitas siswa.

Abstract

This study examines the mathematical literacy skills of seventh-grade students at State Junior High School (SMP) 1 Tanjungsari and their relationship with learning motivation. The objective of this research is to analyze the impact of students' learning motivation on their mathematical literacy abilities. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method, involving 34 students from class VII-H in the first semester of the 2024/2025 academic year. Data collection methods include a three-item descriptive test, a learning motivation questionnaire, and interviews with selected students. The results indicate that the average mathematical literacy score was 29.26 (out of 100), with 1.02% of students categorized as having high literacy, 1.70% as medium, and 79.41% as low. Learning motivation levels were classified as high (17.65%), medium (61.76%), and low (20.58%). In conclusion, students with high motivation and literacy demonstrated proficiency in all mathematical literacy indicators, whereas students with low motivation exhibited weaker literacy skills and failed to meet all indicators. Notably, even students with moderate motivation displayed low literacy skills and did not achieve all expected indicators.

Abstract

This study was driven by the low mathematical problem-solving abilities of students. To address this issue, Think Talk Write (TTW) learning model, supported by GeoGebra software, was implemented as an intervention. The research aimed to determine whether students taught using the TTW learning model assisted by GeoGebra demonstrate greater improvement in mathematical problem-solving skills compared to those taught through conventional methods. This quasi-experimental study employed a quantitative approach with a non-equivalent control group design. The sampel in this research was class VII-G, with 28 students and Class VII-H, with 26 students. Data were collected using a mathematical problem-solving ability test and analyzed quantitatively. The gain index results indicated that the experimental class experienced a higher improvement in problem-solving skills than the control class. Furthermore, the t' test at a 5% significance level confirmed significant differences in mathematical problem-solving abilities between the two groups. Thus, it can be concluded that the TTW learning model assisted by GeoGebra software significantly enhanced students' mathematical problem-solving abilities compared to conventional learning methods.

Abstract

Vocational school students have distinctive characteristics that are influenced by a variety of factors, including their social, cultural, and cognitive backgrounds. In the world of education, the development of creative thinking skills is an important aspect for vocational school students. However, each student's level of creativity varies, and one factor that contributes to this difference is cognitive style. This study aims to examine the influence of cognitive style on the mathematical creative thinking ability of high school students in Sumedang Regency. The method used is a qualitative approach with a descriptive design, where data is collected through mathematical creative thinking tests as well as semi-structured interviews. The study participants totaled 28 students, who were categorized based on their cognitive styles into Field-Independent (FI) and Field-Dependent (FD) groups. Data analysis was conducted through the process of reduction, presentation, and concluding, which revealed that students' cognitive style influenced their understanding and response to mathematical information. The results of the study revealed that students with FI's cognitive style tended to have higher creative thinking skills, able to solve problems with a more flexible and complex approach. In contrast, students with FD cognitive style have difficulty thinking flexibly and adapting to various methods, so their level of creativity in solving math problems is lower. This finding is expected to provide insight for educators in designing more effective learning strategies to encourage the development of student creativity in mathematics.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the numeracy literacy skills of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 2 Rancakalong. Numeracy literacy is a fundamental skill necessary for understanding and applying mathematical concepts in daily life. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The research sample consists of 30 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through a numeracy literacy test, which includes three main indicators: number understanding, data interpretation, and solving numerical problems. The results show that the majority of students fall into the "sufficient" (33.33%) and "low" (30%) categories, with an overall average score of 45. Although there are a few students in the "good" and "very good" categories, their numbers are relatively small (6.67%). Factors contributing to the low numeracy literacy skills include a lack of connection between the test questions and real-life contexts, low learning motivation, and teaching methods that remain too theoretical. This study recommends the implementation of context-based learning, the use of technology in education, and training for teachers to enhance students' numeracy literacy. The findings of this study are expected to contribute to the development of more effective teaching strategies to improve numeracy literacy at the primary education level.

Abstract

This study was driven by the low mathematical literacy skills observed among junior high school students. To address this issue, a project-based learning model incorporating ethnomathematical elements was utilized as a strategy to enhance these skills. This study aims to find out which improvement in mathematical literacy skills is better between students who obtain a project-based learning model with ethnomathematical nuances and students who obtain a conventional learning model. This research is a quasi-experimental type, using a quantitative method with a non-equivalent control group design research design. The research population is all students of grade VIII MTs Al-Falaahiyah. With the purposive sampling technique, class VIII C was chosen as the experimental class that obtained the PjBL model with ethnomathematical nuances, and class VIII B as the control class that obtained the conventional learning model. Data were collected through mathematical literacy tests and analyzed quantitatively. The results of the gain index show that the improvement in mathematical literacy skills of the experimental class is higher than that of the control class. The results of the Mann Whitney U test at the 5% significance level showed that there was a difference in mathematical literacy ability between the experimental class and the control class. It can be concluded that the improvement of mathematical literacy skills of students who obtained a project-based learning model with ethnomathematical nuances is better than that of students who obtained a conventional learning model.
