Abstract

Pendahuluan:  Biji buah alpukat memiliki zat aktif yang dapat menurunkan kadar trigliserida.  Pemanfaatan biji buah alpukat sebagai obat penurun kadar trigliserida masih memiliki potensial yang perlu dikembangkan untuk menjadi salah obat herbal yang alternatif. Metode: Penelitian eksperimental dilakukan terhadap tikus Sprague Dawley, tikus diberikan sediaan propylthiouracil (PTU) selama 14 hari untuk mencapai kondisi hiperlipidemia yang dibagi ke dalam 2 kelompok intervensi. Kelompok pertama diberikan ekstrak biji alpukat yang diekstraksi dengan metode remaserasi dari biji alpukat yang digerus selama 15 menit dan kelompok kedua digerus selama 30 menit. Ukuran partikel didapatkan dari rata-rata diameter 10 partikel biji alpukat secara acak dari setiap variasi waktu penggerusan. Kadar trigliserida dalam darah tikus diukur setelah 14 hari pemberian PTU dan diukur lagi setelah 7 hari, dan 14 hari pemberian ekstrak biji alpukat. Analisis data menggunakan uji paired t-test dan unpaired t-test. Hasil: Rata-rata ukuran partikel biji alpukat pada kelompok 1 sebesar 27,03 µm dan kelompok 2 sebesar 13,50 µm Pemberian ekstrak biji alpukat mampu menurunkan kadar trigliserida secara signifikan dari hari 0-7, hari 0-14, dan hari 7-14 pada kelompok 1 (p<0,05). Hal yang sama ditemukan pada kelompok 2 (p<0,05) selain dari hari 7-14 (p>0,05). Tidak ditemukan perbedaan yang signifikan dalam penurunan trigliserida pada kelompok pertama dan kedua (p>0,05). Simpulan: Pemberian ekstrak biji alpukat dapat menurunkan kadar trigliserida pada tikus. Perbedaan waktu penggerusan dan ukuran biji alpukat yang diekstraksi tidak memengaruhi efektivitas dalam penurunan kadar trigliserida.

Abstract

Pendahuluan: Penyebab kematian tertinggi di Indonesia adalah stroke dan penyakit jantung koroner. Salah satu faktor risiko adalah hiperlipidemia. Hiperlipidemia berisiko menyebabkan aterosklerosis. Stres oksidatif telah terbukti berperan pada hiperlipidemia dan aterosklerosis. Salah satu biomarker untuk menentukan stres oksidatif adalah malondialdehid (MDA). Penggunaan antioksidan dapat mengurangi kerusakan yang diakibatkan oleh radikal bebas. Bajakah tampala adalah tanaman yang mengandung berbagai metabolit sekunder yaitu flavonoid, fenol, tanin, dan saponin. Metabolit sekunder tersebut berperan sebagai antioksidan dan memiliki efek hipolipidemik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas dari ekstrak bajakah tampala dalam pengobatan penyakit hiperlipidemia. Metode: Penelitian ini adalah studi eksperimental in vivo terhadap tikus dengan metode pre-test dan post-test. Sampel penelitian adalah 12 ekor tikus putih jantan Sprague-Dawley yang sehat dan tidak cacat berusia 8 minggu dengan berat badan ±200 gram. Tikus diinduksi hiperlipidemia selama 21 hari. Setelah itu, kelompok pertama diberikan ekstrak bajakah tampala dan kelompok kedua diberikan simvastatin selama 21 hari. Nilai absorbansi sampel campuran serum dengan reagen MDA assay kit pada panjang gelombang 450 nm, 532 nm, dan 600 nm diukur menggunakan metode spektrofotometri. Kadar MDA dihitung dengan rumus menggunakan nilai absorbansi tersebut. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji T berpasangan dan uji T tidak berpasangan. Hasil: Hasil menunjukkan penurunan yang signifikan pada rerata kadar MDA tikus putih jantan hiperlipidemia yang diberikan ekstrak bajakah tampala (p<0,05). Tidak terdapat perbedaan rerata penurunan kadar MDA yang signifikan antara yang diberikan ekstrak bajakah tampala dengan simvastatin (p>0,05). Simpulan: Pemberian ekstrak bajakah tampala terbukti efektif dalam menurunkan kadar MDA pada tikus putih jantan hiperlipidemia.

Abstract

Background: Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) is a disease characterized by regurgitation of stomach contents into the esophagus. Signs and symptoms of GERD are regurgitation and heartburn. One of the triggers for GERD is coffee consumption.Aims: This study aims to determine differences in the effect of coffee consumption on black coffee drinkers and mixed coffee drinkers on symptoms of GERD.Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in Bekasi City and DKI Jakarta using a demographic questionnaire and consumption of black coffee and mixed coffee and the Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease Questionnaire (GERDQ) in Indonesian language. Data analysis used the Mann-Whitney test to test the percentage difference between the dependent variable and the independent variable.Results: This study obtained 195 participants who were analyzed. As much as 50.8% (99 people) consumed mixed coffee and 52.8% (19 people) had GERD and 50.3% (80 people) did not experience GERD. As many as 49.2% (96 people) consumed black coffee and 47.2% (17 people) had GERD and 49.7% (79 people) did not have GERD. The Mann-Whitney test did not show a significant change (Asymp. Sig. 0.790).Conclusion: There is no significant comparison between the effects of coffee consumption on black coffee drinkers and mixed coffee drinkers on GERD symptoms.Keywords: Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease, GERD, Black Coffee, Mixed Coffee

Abstract

Dehydration, the decrease of body fluid and electrolytes, is the most common disorder in the elderly. Total body water (TBW) is influenced by various factors including body composition, such as fat mass (FM) and fat-free mass (FFM). FM can be represented by body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), and waist-to-hip ratio (WHR) while FFM can be represented by muscle mass (MM). This study aimed to determine the correlation of BMI, WC, WHR and MM with TBW in the elderly. This cross-sectional research was conducted on elderly people in four nursing homes in Jakarta between November and December 2020. The sample was 87 people who meet the inclusion and exclusion criteria with the total sampling method. Fat mass data collection were carried out by trained personnel by measuring BMI, WC, WHR. MM data were collected using the Maltron Bioscan 916. Correlation analysis was carried out using the independent t-test and linear regression test. The results showed that the average TBW was 28.5 ± 5.4 liters (men were significantly higher than women). Further analysis showed that BMI, WC, and MM were positively correlated with TBW, but not WHR. In linear regression analysis, MM had the greatest correlation with TBW (p<0.05). This study validated that elderly people with lower muscle mass tend to have lower total body fluids; therefore, elderly people are advised to maintain muscle mass through diet and exercise modification to maintain total body fluids and reduce the risk of dehydration.

Abstract

Pendahuluan: Katarak adalah penyebab utama gangguan penglihatan, memengaruhi jutaan orang di seluruh dunia, termasuk 81% kasus kebutaan di Indonesia, terutama katarak senilis. Miopia, yang sering dikaitkan dengan katarak nuklear, terjadi akibat perubahan indeks bias pada lensa mata yang mengakibatkan "myopic shift" atau miopisasi. Miopisasi dapat memberikan ilusi perbaikan penglihatan dekat ("second-sight"), yang sering menunda diagnosis dan perawatan katarak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui insidensi dan derajat miopisasi pada pasien katarak senilis di klinik mata Rumah Sakit Atma Jaya (RSAJ), Jakarta. Metode: Penelitian analitik dengan metode potong lintang retrospektif pada 92 sampel mata pasien di klinik mata RSAJ. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui rekam medis pasien yang terdiagnosis katarak senilis tipe nuklear dan mengalami miopisasi. Pengambilan data rekam medis dilakukan di RSAJ pada bulan April 2023 – Juli 2023 kemudian dilanjutkan pengolahan data dengan uji Chi-square. Hasil: Penelitian ini menunjukkan insidensi miopisasi pada katarak senilis berjenis nuklear dengan derajat NO3-NO6 sebesar 39,1% dengan derajat miopia ringan terbanyak yaitu 88,1% dan terdapat hubungan bermakna antara derajat miopisasi ringan dengan katarak senilis tipe nuklear (p=<0,001). Hasil analisis data juga menunjukkan tidak terdapat hubungan antara derajat miopisasi sedang dengan katarak senilis tipe nuklear (p=0,056). Simpulan: Penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya hubungan antara derajat miopisasi ringan dan sedang dengan katarak senilis tipe nuklear pada pasien di klinik mata RSAJ.

Abstract

Introduction: Parkinson's disease (PD) is the second most common neurodegenerative disease. Identification of PD biomarkers is critical for early diagnosis and development of therapeutic targets. There are many factors that are associated with PD, including metabolic syndrome (MetS). However, molecular links between MetS and PD for biomarkers is still a challenge. This study aims to determine the molecular links between MetS and PD using an in silico approach. Methods: Data were obtained from Gene Expression Omnibus to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and microRNA (DEMs) in PD and MetS. DEGs were mapped to protein-protein interaction (PPI) networks using the STRING platform. Then, gene ontology (GO) and pathway analysis was performed with EnrichR to reveal specific and overlapped biological processes. Finally, microRNA (miRNA) and mRNA pairs were predicted using TargetScan. Results: A total of 25 DEGs were identified in both MetS and PD. GO and pathway analysis for MetS-PD revealed that these DEGs mainly related to metabolic and cytokine pathways. Examination of miRNA showed that hsa-miR-631 was down-regulated in both MetS and PD. GO and pathway analysis on predicted targets of hsa-miR-631 showed major changes in metabolic pathways. Hsa-miR-631 can target the 3' UTR of ATP2B4 at poorly conserved site, indicating a specific miRNA-mRNA pairing in humans. Conclusion: In patients with MetS and PD, hsa-miR-631 and ATP2B4 are depleted and elevated, respectively. Bioinformatic analysis indicates that ATP2B4 is a target of hsa-miR-631. We demonstrate for the first time that hsa-miR-631/ ATP2B4 pair is potential biomarker for PD due to MetS.

Abstract

Introduction: The interest in probiotics has increased significantly in recent years. While most probiotic-containing foods are dairy-based, an increasing number of non-dairy probiotic products have emerged, including kombucha. Kombucha is a fermented tea beverage originating from China, known for its high polyphenol content and potential health benefits. Methods: This literature review aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the health benefits of kombucha. A systematic search of published studies was conducted using the keywords "kombucha," "antioxidant," "anti-inflammatory," "antimicrobial," and "gut microbiota modulation." Only English-language articles were included, and there was no restriction on publication date to capture the full spectrum of research on kombucha. Results: Kombucha exhibits significant antioxidant capacity, with green tea kombucha demonstrating the highest Ferric Ion Reducing Antioxidant Power (FRAP) due to its high polyphenol content. Additionally, kombucha possesses antimicrobial properties attributed to organic acids, lactones, aldehydes, fatty acids, and alkaloids, which act synergistically. It also exhibits anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting nitric oxide production and downregulating pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-1β and TNF-α. Furthermore, kombucha modulates gut microbiota composition by inhibiting the growth of Gram-negative bacteria, leading to reduced systemic inflammation and oxidative stress. Conclusion: Kombucha, a traditional fermented tea, has notable health benefits, including antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and gut microbiota-modulating properties. Abstract

This qualitative research aims to describe the planning, implementation, and evaluation of entrepreneurship education management in shaping the independence of students SMK Trisakti Jaya Bandarlampung. Independent is the attitude of someone who can do things on their own without relying on others. Independence will make a person able to make his own decisions with confidence and responsibility for his decisions. As a form of attitude, independence can be formed by internalization. The results of the research that the formation of student independence with entrepreneurial character at SMK Trisakti Jaya Bandarlampung teaches core values that need to be transformed in education, namely honesty and discipline. Such transformed values in order to shape, maintain, build and develop, even in certain efforts lead to changing the culture of society.   The learning of the values of independence associated with entrepreneurship is sought to be integrated into each subject. The role of the teacher of entrepreneurship subjects determines the formation of student independence because it takes real action in the form of creativity to foster entrepreneurial interest in schools so that independence is embedded. Careful planning of learning materials, must adopt more entrepreneurial values and implement in the form of curricular ectra that adapts to the major and its competence.  Industrial work practices or PKL that contribute to student independence need to be well managed and managed, as well as industrial visits or study tours because they can provide benefits in forming independence. The success rate in terms of planning has been good, as well as its implementation, but the evaluation to find out the factors that support and hinder the management of entrepreneurship education in shaping student independence has not been realized properly.

Abstract

Background Nematode infections result in 60.000 deaths each year. The majority of these infections are dominated by Ascaris Lumbricoides, which is asymptomatic and is currently treated with albendazole. However, prolonged use increases the risk of drug resistance. Research on herbal anthelmintics is very much needed. Herbs like C. asiatica and M. pudica (a wild tropical plant), have proven to possess antiparasitic properties due to their anthelmintic content. Methods This research used in-vitro experiments to compare the effectiveness of M. pudica and C. asiatica herbal extracts and their concentrations on the death time of A. suum worms. Herbal extracts were obtained through remaceration techniques, and each herb was made in concentrations of 10%, 20%, and 50%. Each experimental group was given 5 A. suum worms, which were observed every hour for 24 hours. Results A total of 53.3%, 86.6%, and 93.3% of the worms died in the C. asiatica group using 10%, 20%, and 50% concentration. Meanwhile,  60%, 73.3%, and 100% of the worms died in the M. pudica group using the same concentrations. By using two-way anova to compare the effectiveness of each concentration and also to compare the two plants, it could be concluded that there was no significant difference between C. asiatica and M. pudica either in their respective concentrations (p=0.0588) or between herbs (p=0.1670). The post-hoc test carried out also showed that there was no difference in the lethal effect of the two extracts. Conclusions Both extracts exhibited similar anthelmintic effects (p > 0.05), with LC50 of 8.91% for C. asiatica and 9.33% for M. pudica.

Abstract

Pendahuluan: Penyakit infeksi yang disebabkan oleh mikroorganisme patogen, termasuk Staphylococcus aureus dan Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), menjadi masalah kesehatan global dengan angka kematian tinggi. Biji alpukat (Persea americana Mill.) mengandung senyawa dengan potensi antibakterial, seperti flavonoid dan tanin. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membandingkan aktivitas antibakterial ekstrak biji alpukat yang diperoleh melalui teknik ekstraksi dingin (remaserasi) dan panas (refluks) terhadap Staphylococcus aureus dan MRSA. Metode: Penelitian adalah penelitian eksperimental in vitro. Ekstraksi simplisia biji alpukat dilakukan dengan metode remaserasi (dingin) dan refluks (panas). Dilanjutkan dengan uji fitokimia kualitatif metode penampisan terhadap flavonoid, alkaloid, saponin, dan tanin. Uji kuantitatif dengan metode UV-Vis terhadap senyawa Flavonoid. Uji aktivitas antibakterial dilakukan dengan uji difusi sumuran. Analisis statistik menggunakan uji non parametrik. Hasil: Ekstrak biji Alpukan memiliki metabolit sekunder flavonioid, alkaloid, saponin, dan Tanin. Ekstrak digin memiliki jumlah flavonoid dengan rata-rata 3,932 mgQE/g. Ekstrak panas memiliki jumlah flavonoid dengan rata-rata 2,288 mgQE/g. Ekstrak dingin dan ekstrak panas biji alpukat memiliki aktivitas antibakterial jika dibandingkan dengan kontrol negatif pada konsentrasi 25% (p<0,05). Uji aktivitas antibakteri menggunakan metode difusi sumuran menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak dingin dan panas memiliki efektivitas yang tidak berbeda signifikan terhadap kedua jenis bakteri pada berbagai konsentrasi (p>0,05). Hasil ini mengindikasikan bahwa kedua metode ekstraksi dapat menghasilkan ekstrak dengan aktivitas antibakteri yang setara. Simpulan: Ekstrak biji alpukat, baik melalui metode ekstraksi dingin (remaserasi) maupun panas (refluks), memiliki aktivitas antibakteri terhadap Staphylococcus aureus dan MRSA. Tidak terdapat perbedaan signifikan antara kedua metode ekstraksi dalam menghambat pertumbuhan kedua bakteri​.
