Abstract

Plants from the Apocynaceae family are commonly found in the environment of Lambung Mangkurat University, Banjarmasin, and can be utilized as learning materials, particularly in studying the sub-concept of stomata types. Providing appropriate learning resources and teaching materials that align with advancements in science and technology can enhance students’ learning motivation and engagement. One effective approach is the use of digital teaching materials such as electronic booklets (e-booklets). This study aims to describe the quality of the developed e-booklet based on suitability, feasibility, and readability tests. This research employed a development method using the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate) proposed by Thiagarajan et al. (1974), conducted up to the dissemination stage in a limited and simplified manner. The subjects of the research and e-booklet evaluation consisted of two lecturers and eight students who had completed the Plant Anatomy course. The results showed that the suitability test obtained an average score of 4.79 (very suitable), the feasibility test obtained an average score of 4.75 (very feasible), and the readability test obtained an average score of 4.68 (very good). These findings indicate that the developed e-booklet is highly appropriate, feasible, and readable for use as a digital learning material in plant anatomy learning.

Abstract

This community service project aimed to promote environmental awareness and sustainable waste management practices among primary school students at SDN Kuin Cerucuk V Banjarmasin. The program targeted students aged 8–12, a critical developmental stage for instilling environmentally responsible behaviour. Using a participatory approach, the activities included educational sessions, practical waste sorting exercises, and the installation of visual learning aids. Pre- and post-intervention assessments were conducted through direct observation and questionnaires to evaluate knowledge acquisition and behavioural changes. The results indicated a substantial improvement in students’ understanding of waste types and segregation practices. Prior to the intervention, 71.4% of students demonstrated limited knowledge, which shifted significantly post-intervention, with 71.4% achieving the highest knowledge category. Observable behavioural changes included consistent use of segregated waste bins and increased attentiveness to school cleanliness. The active involvement of teachers and school management contributed to the program’s success. However, sustainability challenges remain, including limited time for long-term mentoring, resource constraints among staff, and the absence of community-level waste infrastructure. Despite these obstacles, the project demonstrates that early environmental education, supported by collaboration and practical engagement, can effectively foster long-term behavioural change and lay the foundation for an environmentally conscious.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the impact of using the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model in teaching the Circulatory System material on the learning outcomes and creative thinking abilities of 11th-grade students at SMA Negeri 8 Banjarmasin. The objectives of the research include: (1) assessing the influence of implementing the PjBL model on students' learning outcomes, (2) evaluating the impact of applying the PjBL model on students' creative thinking abilities. The research employed a quasi-experimental method with a posttest nonequivalent control group design. Class XI 8 was selected as the experimental group implementing the PjBL model, while Class XI 10 served as the control group using the Direct Instruction model. Data were collected through test and non-test techniques, and data analysis utilized the Mann-Whitney nonparametric test and descriptive analysis. The findings of the study reveal that: (1) There is no significant influence of implementing the PjBL model on the Circulatory System material on the learning outcomes of 11th-grade students at SMA Negeri 8 Banjarmasin, with an Asymp.Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.335. (2) There is a significant impact of applying the PjBL model on the Circulatory System material on the creative thinking abilities of the students, with an Asymp.Sig (2-tailed) value of 0.000.

Abstract

The presence of moss in the environment can be used as a source of student learning. The advantages of using the environment as a learning resource are that it makes students get information based on direct experience, is more communicative, makes lessons more real, and makes students know and love the environment. The purpose of this study was to describe the feasibility, suitability, legibility, and response of students to the pocket book of moss plants around the Sari Dew Lake, Tanah Laut Regency. This research is a research and development with a 4-D (four D) development model. The results of the development of a pocket book based on (5M) material on the diversity of moss plants in the area of Danau Sari Embun, Tanah Laut Regency, obtained an average suitability score of 4.52 for expert subjects, which is categorized as very suitable for learning objectives. The feasibility test got an average feasibility score from expert subjects of 4.33, which was included in the very worthy category for use as a learning material. The readability test got an average readability score by students of 90.45% which was included in the very good category for students to read. The student response test got an average score of 4.67, which was included in the very positive category when used as a learning material in the learning process. Research on the diversity of organisms in the area of Lake Sari Embun, Tanah Laut Regency, can still explore the potential related to local wisdom. Efforts to promote and introduce the Sari Dew lake area are needed so that the area can be utilized optimally, especially in the field of education.

Abstract

South Kalimantan is known for its rich biodiversity, particularly within the Tropical Rainforest Biodiversity Park of Lembah Bukit Manjai, which serves as a habitat for various tropical forest plant species. Among these is the genus Amorphophallus, notable for its ecological, economic, and conservation value. These plants typically grow in shaded and humid forest floors. This study aimed to identify and describe Amorphophallus species present in the study area. A descriptive-exploratory method was applied using purposive sampling. The study recorded three species: Amorphophallus muelleri, A. paeoniifolius, and A. borneensis. These species were found thriving under low to moderate light intensity, high soil moisture, and neutral pH. Key morphological traits such as habit, leaves, stems, and roots were documented for each species. The findings indicate that the ecological conditions of the study area strongly support the growth of Amorphophallus spp., and that these plants hold potential as local biodiversity-based learning resources.

Abstract

The lack of local potential-based teaching resources makes it challenging for students to grasp the Bryophyta subject, necessitating the development of e-booklet materials. The purpose of this study is to describe the types of moss on the banks of the Mawangi Village river and describe the approriateness, feasibility, readability, and effectiveness of the developed e-booklet. The e-booklet was developed adopting the 4D model technique (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate), however, is was only developed to the limited distribution stage in this study. Two Biology Education FKIP ULM lecturers and a Biology teacher from SMAN 1 Kandangan participated in the suitability and feasibility tests. Nine students participated in the readability test, while seventeen students participated in the effectiveness test. According to the study’s results, 8 types of Bryophyta were found on the banks of the Mawangi Village River, Hulu Sungai Selatan Regency, including Ectropothecium sp., Fissidens sp., Calymperes sp., Octoblepharum sp., Thuidium sp., Bryum sp., Riccia sp., and Anthoceros sp. The e-booklet had an average approriateness test score of 4.19 (approriate), a feasibility test score of 4.36 (very feasible), a readibility test score of 4.53 (very good), and effectiveness test N-gain score of 0.72 (high). As a result, the e-booklet Types of Bryophyta on the Riverbanks of Mawangi Village is considered suitable for use as additional biology teaching material for high school students in grade X. Kata Kunci:Bahan ajar, bryophyta, e-booklet, pengembangan model 4D, tepian sungai Desa Mawangi
