Abstract

Although nurses play an important role in providing professional healthcare services, work situations characterized by high pressure, heavy workloads, demands of responsibility, and emotional strain in nursing care have the potential to cause job stress. In this context, psychological capital is regarded as a positive psychological resource that can help nurses cope with work pressure. This study aimed to determine the effect of psychological capital on nurses’ job stress at Naili DBS Hospital, Padang City. This study employed a quantitative approach with a simple linear regression design. The study population included all nurses at Naili DBS Hospital, Padang City, with a sample of 97 nurses selected through the total sampling technique. Data were collected using Likert scales based on the aspects of psychological capital and job stress, and were then analyzed statistically. The results showed that psychological capital had a significant effect on nurses’ job stress, with a correlation coefficient (R) of 0.620, a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.385, and an F value of 59.41 with a significance of p < 0.001, indicating that the research hypothesis was accepted. These findings indicate that psychological capital plays a role in influencing nurses’ level of job stress, although there are still other factors, such as social support, work–life balance, and leadership style, that also have the potential to affect job stress. Thus, this study emphasizes the importance of strengthening psychological capital as part of a human resource management strategy in hospitals, while also providing a theoretical contribution to the study of occupational psychology and practical implications for the development of a more supportive work environment for nurses.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between self-efficacy and career maturity among final-year students of the Psychology Study Program at Universitas Negeri Padang. The research gap lies in the limited number of studies that specifically investigate the relationship between self-efficacy and career maturity among final-year students, particularly Psychology students, who are in the transition phase from academic life to the workforce. This study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The sample consisted of 228 students selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using Likert scales to measure self-efficacy based on Bandura’s theory and career maturity based on Super’s theory. The data were analyzed using Spearman’s correlation because the data were not normally distributed. The results showed a positive and significant relationship between self-efficacy and career maturity among final-year students of the Psychology Study Program at Universitas Negeri Padang. Thus, the higher the students’ self-efficacy, the higher their career maturity. These findings indicate that strengthening self-efficacy is important in helping final-year students prepare for career planning, career exploration, and career decision-making more maturely. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara self-efficacy dan kematangan karir pada mahasiswa akhir Program Studi Psikologi Universitas Negeri Padang. Abstract

Low levels of work engagement in the government sector may reduce the quality of public services, making it important to identify factors that can strengthen employee engagement. Meaningful work is one factor assumed to influence work engagement. This study aims to determine the effect of meaningful work on work engagement among employees of the Regional Office of Ministry X in West Sumatra Province. A quantitative causal approach was employed using simple linear regression analysis. The sample consisted of 106 employees selected through probability sampling. Data were collected using the Work and Meaning Inventory (WAMI) and the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES). The findings indicate that meaningful work has a significant effect on work engagement (p < .05), with a regression coefficient of 0.817. The R value of 0.455 indicates a moderate relationship, while the R² value of 0.207 shows that meaningful work contributes 20.7% to work engagement. These findings suggest that higher levels of meaningful work are associated with higher levels of employee work engagement. This study contributes to the literature on organizational behavior in the public sector by providing empirical evidence of the role of meaningful work in strengthening work engagement. Practically, the findings imply that bureaucratic institutions should strengthen employees’ sense of meaning in their work to enhance engagement and support the improvement of public service quality.

Abstract

Work engagement and eudaimonic workplace well-being are increasingly important in the health-care sector, where nurses are required to deliver continuous, professional, and emotionally demanding services. Although previous studies have widely examined work engagement, burnout, job satisfaction, and general workplace well-being among nurses, research specifically addressing the relationship between work engagement and eudaimonic workplace well-being in regional public hospitals in Indonesia remains limited. This study aims to analyze the relationship between work engagement and eudaimonic workplace well-being among nurses at RSUD Pasaman Barat. A quantitative correlational design was employed, involving 172 nurses selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using the Eudaimonic Workplace Well-Being Scale and the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale-9 and were analyzed using Pearson Product Moment correlation and simple regression with IBM SPSS for Windows. The findings indicate a positive and significant relationship between work engagement and eudaimonic workplace well-being, with a correlation coefficient of 0.487 and a significance value of 0.000. Regression analysis further showed that work engagement contributed 23.7% to eudaimonic workplace well-being. These findings contribute to the theoretical development of work engagement and eudaimonic workplace well-being within organizational psychology and nursing management. The study concludes that work engagement plays an important role in strengthening nurses’ meaningful psychological well-being at work. Practically, hospital management is encouraged to create a supportive work environment through stronger social support, professional development, recognition, and healthy workload management.

Abstract

Although digital literacy has received increasing attention in graduate employability research, evidence regarding its contribution to work readiness among final-year students across multiple study programs within a single Indonesian public university remains limited. This study aimed to examine the influence of digital literacy on the work readiness of final-year students at Padang State University. A quantitative approach with a simple regression design was employed, involving 335 final-year students from nine faculties selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a Digital Literacy Scale adapted from Nafiah (2023) and a Work Readiness Scale adapted from Afaf (2022) and analyzed through simple linear regression using IBM SPSS Statistics 27. The results revealed that digital literacy had a positive and statistically significant influence on work readiness, as represented by the regression equation Y = 106.614 + 0.279X. The coefficient of determination (R² = 0.645) indicated that digital literacy accounted for 64.5% of the variance in students’ work readiness. These findings demonstrate that digital literacy is an important factor in strengthening final-year students’ readiness to enter the workforce and contribute to the literature on digital competence and career preparation within educational and organizational psychology. The study underscores the importance of integrating digital competencies into university curricula and career-preparation programs to facilitate students’ transition from higher education to the labor market.

Abstract

Public speaking anxiety remains a barrier that can hinder students' ability to convey ideas and actively participate during the learning process. One factor thought to play a role in reducing this anxiety is self-efficacy, which is an individual's belief in their ability to face a task or situation. This study aims to analyze the effect of self-efficacy on public speaking anxiety in grade X students of SMA Negeri X Bukittinggi in 2026. The study used a quantitative approach with a correlational method. The research sample consisted of 115 students selected through a random sampling technique. Data were collected using a self-efficacy scale based on Bandura's (1997) theory and a public speaking anxiety scale based on Bodie's theory, then analyzed using simple linear regression with the help of SPSS. The results showed that self-efficacy had a negative and significant effect on public speaking anxiety (t = -5.698; p = 0.002). This finding indicates that students who have higher confidence in their abilities tend to experience lower levels of anxiety when speaking in public. The research results emphasize the importance of strengthening self-efficacy as a strategy to increase self-confidence and support students' communication skills in the school environment
