Abstract

South Aceh Regency is one of the regencies located in Aceh Province, with Tapaktuan serving as its capital city. A regency library is a regional library that functions as a guiding library, reference library, deposit library, research library, and preservation library at the regency or municipal level. Currently, South Aceh Regency already has a library building; however, it is combined within the same building as the Department of Library and Archives. This condition makes the library less accessible to the public due to its closed nature and bureaucratic atmosphere. In South Aceh Regency, particularly in Tapaktuan, there are several higher education institutions such as polytechnics, academies, and colleges. In addition, there are also many schools and Islamic boarding schools. Based on interviews conducted with various groups, including the community, university students, and school students, there is strong interest in the development of a more open and accessible public library. Approximately 90% of respondents agreed with the plan to build such a facility. The main objective is to make it easier for the community, students, and pupils to access books and other sources of knowledge. By applying a metaphorical architectural approach, the building is expected to become a prominent landmark that encourages people to visit the regency library.

Abstract

Ar-Raniry State Islamic University is one of the universities located in Banda Aceh, Aceh, Indonesia. A student dormitory is a residential building dedicated to a homogeneous group. Currently, Ar-Raniry State Islamic University has not provided dormitories for underprivileged students who come from outside Banda Aceh and outside Aceh Province. Judging from the expensive rent of boarding houses or houses and the number of students who increase every year, this case can be concerning for underprivileged students. From the results of interviews with one hundred UIN Ar-Raniry students, student interest in the idea of building student dormitories is very large. As many as 90% of respondents strongly agreed and were even willing to live in the dormitory. The design of this student dormitory aims to ease the burden of underprivileged students and has benefits for building users. By applying a green architecture approach, the building is able to minimize adverse effects on the environment and the surrounding nature and is able to minimize the use of electricity by applying the principles of green architecture. Abstract

In civil engineering work, a method must be needed in carrying out work in a project. In the work of air structures such as irrigation buildings, it is very necessary to carry out work in the field according to what has been planned. In the construction of irrigation networks there are earthworks which are the land where the pavement is built, which consists of soil, soil stockpiles, heavy equipment which are important factors in projects, especially large-scale construction projects, project management and implementation work plans, quality and quantity of materials used. will be used. The method of carrying out the work of the Sigulai secondary irrigation channel, which discusses the implementation of the survey. The research survey was conducted at D.I Sigulai which is in West Simeulue, Simeulue Regency. In the implementation of secondary irrigation canal work, survey work is carried out in seven months using theodolite, Waterpass, Meter, Compass, Clinometer, and Total Station. This study uses two data, the first is primary data which is the result of measurements and surveys, namely, coordinate data for the location of irrigation buildings and data which includes: area of irrigation areas, maps of Sigulai irrigation areas, irrigation network schemes and irrigation building schemes obtained from Banda Aceh Water Service. The research results obtained that in the manufacture of secondary irrigation canals and auxiliary buildings there is a method of carrying out the work which consists of: Execution of ordinary earthworks, ordinary soil embankments, concrete layers, and concrete work floors is carried out using heavy equipment and the work of workers in their work, which is carried out during 24 (twenty four) months and the execution of complementary building works consisting of ordinary earthworks, concrete work floors, formwork, reinforcement, installation of river stones, plastering, and broadcasting is carried out using heavy equipment and laborers in the work, which is carried out for 10 (twenty four) months ten) months. Abstract

This community service activity aimed to build a disaster preparedness culture through earthquake and tsunami simulation activities at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 2 Suak Timah, West Aceh Regency. The activity was motivated by the high risk of earthquake and tsunami disasters in the coastal area of West Aceh and the limited understanding of students regarding disaster mitigation and evacuation procedures. This program was carried out through collaboration between the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of West Aceh Regency, lecturers from the Civil Engineering Department of Teuku Umar University, the Samatiga Community Health Center, and the school. The methods used included education, socialization, demonstrations, and direct simulations regarding self-rescue actions during earthquakes and tsunamis. The simulation was conducted at Suak Timah Football Field as the evacuation gathering point. The results showed an increase in students’ and school members’ knowledge and preparedness in facing disasters. Participants were able to understand evacuation routes, perform self-protection actions, and follow evacuation procedures in an orderly and rapid manner. Evaluation results indicated that disaster mitigation understanding reached 85%, self-rescue ability 88%, accuracy in following evacuation routes 90%, discipline during simulation 92%, and participant involvement reached 95%. This activity also encouraged the formation of a disaster awareness culture and the emergence of active student roles as preparedness pioneers within the school environment. Therefore, disaster simulation proved to be an effective educational medium in improving the capacity and preparedness of school communities toward earthquake and tsunami risks.
