Abstract

Helical pile can provide an alternative for wood pile over peat soil. The reaserch studied about the effect of amount of helical plates to lateral capacity of helical pile and compared to wood pile and helical without pile. The amount of helical plates used were L, 2L, 3L, LM, and LMS with spacing 50cm. Lateral ultimate capacity was interpreted by Tangent Intersection and. Theoritical lateral capacity of helical pile was calculated using Broms method. Data obtained from experiments in the form of load and displacement described in the normal scale and interpreted by using method tangen of intersection. It is known that increasing the addition of the same diameter of helical plate will increase the lateral bearing capacity of helical pile. But if the bottom of helical plate is smaller then the addition of helical plate no significant effect on the lateral bearing capacity although the helical plate on it larger.Loading experimental results were compared with the result of calculation lateral bearing capacity used Broms method. From the comparison note the lateral bearing capacity of the field is greater than analytical lateral bearing capacity.Keywords: Helical Pile, amount of Helical Plates, Peat soil, lateral Capacity, Wood Pile, pile without helical.

Abstract

Application of helical pile to support structures constructed on peat is still a new method. Research is needed to discover ability of helical fondation replace wood pile. There were 6 different helical piles, wood pile, and plain pile embedded in peat. This research aimed to determined the behavior from effect of diameter variations helical plate to lateral bearing capacity of helical pile on peat soil. The distribution process lateraly load based on constant rate of penetration procedure with eccentricity 500 mm and 300 mm. The calculation of lateral bearing capacity theoretically using the method of Brinch Hansen (1961) and Methods Broms (1964). Interpretation method used are standard lateral failure structure. The addition diameter helical plate will Improved lateral bearing an average of 25 N. Reduction of the eccentricity value by 20 cm will increased the lateral bearing capacity average of 39 N. The results of trial and error in determined the cu correlation value is 0.05cu.Keywords: Helical Pile, Plate Diameter, Peat, Lateral bearing Capacity, Eccentricity, Wood Pile.

Abstract

Strength and durability of road pavement depend on engineering properties of subgrade. However, soils used as subgrade may not satisfy the required quality. Peat or organic soils is not to advantage of construction because bearing capacity or value of peat soil’s CBR is low. This paper intends to find out more about CBR value of organic soils on OMC and saturated condition . This research investigated the changes of CBR value with moisture content in the range of OMC to saturated. And influenced percentage varied of peat in mixture organic soils (clay and peat). The result of this study showed that for increasing of peat content reduce  CBR values at OMC condition. CBR value  in addition 10% of peat decreased CBR significantly  to 2,88 %  as compared  to original soil (clay) is about 23,88%.  And when compaction of soils with water content above OMC,  incresing content of water reduce  value of CBR.  Key Words: CBR, water content, peat

Abstract

Soft soil has low shear strength and high compressibility. In this study, portable tools i.e. Dokenbo tool and field Vane Shear were used to determine mechanical characteristics of soft soil quickly and cheaply. Dokenbo is a relatively new field method, developed by the National Institute of Civil Engineering in Japan, to measure shear strength of soft soil. Obtained parameters from Dokenbo are penetration and torsion. This study aimed to determine range of shear strength values from both methods. Correlation of mechanical properties from Dokenbo and Vane Shear was also analyzed. Likewise, correlation between Dokenbo results and soil physical properties. The test was carried out at 3 points field test in Lubuk Gaung Village, Dumai City. From the research, it was obtained that the type of soil was soft soil based on the value of shear strength (Su) with a range of 12-25 kPa. Soil consistency based on the value of penetration resistance is moderately stiff with a value range of 500-1000 kN/m2. Statistical analysis show that penetration value is directly proportional to the Su value, if the penetration value is large, the Su value also increases. Penetration and internal shear angle has a very low correlation. While there is low correlation between penetration and physical properties, where there is no good data connection. Abstract

Soft to very soil is widely encountered in Siak Regency. Physical and mechanical properties of soft soil is very important in the construction. This research was an attempt to characterize the soil properties using portable tools namely, Dokenbo and vane shear. Dokenbo is a in-situ soil testing tool which was recently developed by the Public Works Research Institute in Japan. The Parameterswhich were obtained from the Dokenbo test includes the value of penetration, torque (T0), and the shear angle in the soil (Ø). Vane Shear test was conducted to obtain undrained shear strength in the field. The purpose of this study is to obtain a simple relationship (correlation) between the mechanical properties of using Dokenbo and Vane Shear, and the correlation between mechanicalproperties and soil physical properties. Vane Shear and Dokenbo was used to obtain mechanical properties while physical properties were obtained from laboratory testing. The results then were analyzed using linear regression. The results of the Dokenbo test in this study includes the penetrationvalue in the range from 418 to 1373 kN/m2, the torque value (T0) in the range from 0,3 to 0,65 N.m, and the internal shear angle (Ø) was in the 24o to 60o range. Soil shear strength value from vane shear test results range from 6 to 64 kPa. From the test results obtained, the correlation betweenpenetration and shear strength (Su) has a very strong interpretation, likewise is the correlation between the correlation (T0) and Su. The internal shear angle (Ø) correlation and Su shows no correlation. Meanwhile, the correlation between mechanical properties and soil physical properties has a moderate correlation.Keywords: Dokenbo, Shear Strength, Penetration, Torque, Inner Shear Angle

Abstract

A Soil is usually as a base of both building construction and road construction, it becomes a problem if the soil has an inapproriate properties. Materials such as cement, lime, and rice husk ash can be used as stabilization materials to increase soil strength. This study examines the behavior of high plastically stabilized clay with cement, lime, and rice husk ash. The increases of soil performance is seen by CBR test, UCS test, and swelling potential measurements. CBR and UCS test were carried out with 4 conditions; 28 days ripening, 28 days ripening and 4 days immersion, tested directly, and 4 days immersion. The examination of swelling potential was supported by dial on soaked CBR and consolidometer. Soil samples from each varied mixture were loaded with various loads. The results showed that the CBR value and UCS value increase with the duration of ripening and decrease with the length of immersion. Then the CBR and UCS values increase with the addition of lime percentage in the mixture. The highest CBR and UCS values occurs in cement soil 90% + lime 10% with CBR values of 164.34% and UCS values of 1402.97 kPa in conditions for 28 days without immersion. The lowest CBR and UCS values occurs in cement soil 90% + rusk husk ash 10% with a value of 1.68% for CBR and 11.21 kPa for UCS values with conditions soaked for 4 days without immersion. Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini mengkaji tentang pengaruh waktu terhadap peningkatan daya dukung fondasi tiang sirip dan polos. Variasi waktu pengujian dalam penelitian ini adalah 0, 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32 dan 64 hari, semua variasi waktu akan di analisis dan membandingkan hasil daya dukung aksial dari fondasi tiang sirip dan polos. Hasil penelitian ini menampilkan hasil perbandingan terbesar antara tiang sirip dan tiang polos yaitu sebesar 538,75%. Pengujian tiang sirip berdasarkan fungsi waktu, daya dukung aksial mengalami penurunan pada waktu pengujian 1, 4, 16 hari. Sedangkan daya untuk tiang polos selalu mengalami peningkatan berdasarkan fungsi waktu. Faktor peningkatan daya dukung (∆10) adalah sebesar 0,054 untuk tiang polos dan 0,014 unuk tiang sirip. Faktor peningkatan hasil penelitian ini lebih kecil dari penelitian sebelumnya, hal ini karena tanah yang digunakan tanah lanau organik. Tanah organik memiliki kadar air yang tinggi dan daya dukung yang rendah terhadap beban. Kata kunci: Pengaruh Waktu, Daya Dukung, Faktor Peningkatan (∆10).

Abstract

Peningkatan lalu lintas udara di Bandar Udara Sultan Thaha Syaifuddin yang berada di Provinsi Jambi mengalami peningkatan setiap tahunnya. Pemerintah Provinsi Jambi bersama PT. Angkasa Pura II melakukan peningkatkan fasilitas bandara dan peningkatan klasifikasi bandara menjadi bandara internasional yakni dengan melakukan perpanjangan runway dan pembangunan gedung terminal. Dari investigasi tanah yang dilakukan pada area perpanjangan runway, hasil N-SPT relatif rendah dan dengan jenis tanah lempung yang memiliki sifat daya dukung yang rendah, kembang susut yang tinggi, waktu konsolidasi yang lambat dan besarnya settlement sehingga perlu dilakukan perbaikan tanah dengan metode Prefabricated Vertical Drain (PVD). Analisis yang dilakukan adalah perbaikan tanah dengan PVD yang diberi Preloading dan memperhitungkan efek smear. Pada penelitian dilakukan variasi pola pemasangan yakni segitiga dan segiempat serta jarak pemasangan PVD (s) yakni = 1,0 m, 1,2 m dan 1,4 m. Dari hasil analisis yang dilakukan diperoleh peningkatan daya dukung tanah dasar permukaan, waktu konsolidasi yang semakin singkat, dan settlement terjadi untuk semua variasi sama yakni sebesar 1,42 m. Dari variasi penelitian yang dilakukan, pola pemasangan segitiga dengan jarak pemasangan PVD (s) = 1,0 m menjadi variasi yang efektif, karena waktu konsolidasi yang paling singkat yakni 1,03 tahun.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Bandara Sultan Thaha saat ini sedang diadakan Pekerjaan Perpanjangan Runway, pekerjaan perpanjangan runway ini dilakukan sepanjang 390 m ditambah panjang Stopway 60 m dan Panjang RESA 90 m. Kondisi tanah dasar disepanjang lokasi perpanjangan runway ini menurut data perencanaan adalah tergolong soft hingga very stiff clay disetiap kedalaman, muka air tanah dikedalaman -3 m maka perlu dilakukan perbaikan tanah. Seperti yang umumnya diketahui penggunaan PVD Surcharge harus disertai dengan pemberian beban (preloading) guna menimbulkan efek perbedaan tegangan di dalam tanah dan di permukaan tanah sehingga air dapat mengalir dengan mudah yang kemudian dipercepat melalui jalur-jalur Vertical Drain yang telah ditanam. Namun timbunan yang tinggi menyebabkan operasional bandara dapat terganggu karena tinggi tanah timbunan (preloading). Oleh sebab itu digunakan metode Vacuum Consolidation. Metode perbaikan tanah ini memasangkan pompa pada saluran yang akan disambungkan pada PVD yang menerapkan pengisapan vakum ke massa tanah yang terisolasi, mengurangi tekanan atmosfir di dalamnya, sehingga dengan mengurangi tekanan air pori di tanah sehingga tegangan efektif meningkat tanpa mengubah tegangan total. Hasil perhitungan menunjukkan besar penurunan konsolidasi yang terjadi dengan tekanan vakum sebesar 80 kPa dimana PVD dipasang segi empat dengan jarak 1.3 m memberikan hasil yang cukup signifikan yang dilihat dari segi penurunan dilapangan menggunakan instrumentasi geoteknik dan dilakukan analisis menggunakan Metode Observasi Asaoka dari settlement plate lapangan.

Abstract

Di Pekanbaru, terdapat jenis tanah yang diklasifikasikan tanah CL-ML yang berdasarkan grafik plastisitas cassagrande memiliki indek plastisitas antara 4% - 7%, dan batas cair antara 12% - 30%. Kondisi tanah ini rentan terhadap perubahan kadar air sehingga menyebabkan tanah mudah lembek (mencair) dimusim penghujan dan menjadi retak pada musim kemarau, keadaan ini menjadi masalah jika pembangunan jalan dilaksanakan diatasnya. Penelitian ini menggunakan semen sebagai stabilisasi secara kimia dalam upaya perbaikan akibat perubahan kadar air pada siklus basah-kering terhadap nilai kuat tekan bebas. Siklus pembasahan dilakukan dengan merendam sampel kedalam air dan pengeringan dengan dimasukkan kedalam desikator yang terjaga kelembapannya. Hasil penelitian secara umum menunjukkan bahwa karakteristik kuat tekan bebas terhadap siklus basah kering meningkat dengan penambahan semen pada tanah CL-ML. Pada kondisi pembasahan nilai kuat tekan bebas menurun dengan meningkatnya kadar air dan kembali meningkat saat kadar air berkurang pada kondisi pengeringan
