Abstract

Wick hydroponics is a simple hydroponic method because it uses a wick to connect the nutrients to the roots of the plant. NPK 16:16:16 is a compound fertilizer that contains balanced nutrients N, P and K, each amounting to 16%. The objective of this study was to determine the response of growth and production of mustard greens (Brassica juncea L.) to NPK 16:16:16 in a wick hydroponic system. The research was conducted at the UF (University Farm) of Teuku Umar University, Meureubo District, West Aceh Regency, in December-January 2024. The study employed a non-factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 10 concentrations of NPK 16:16:16 fertilizer and 3 replications, yielding a total of 30 experimental units. Each experimental unit consisted of three sample plants grown in a single Styrofoam container, giving a total of 90 sample plants. The NPK 16:16:16 fertilizer concentrations evaluated were 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, and 5.0 g L⁻¹. Analysis of variance data using SPSS version 25 software with the DMRT (Duncan Multiple Range Test) as a further test. The results of the research showed that the provision of NPK 16:16:16 fertilizer had a significant effect on the growth of mustard greens, as indicated by differences in plant height, number of leaves, leaf length and leaf width. Providing NPK 16:16:16 fertilizer resulted in a significant difference in mustard green production, as measured by plant wet weight and plant dry weight. Based on the research findings, the application of NPK 16:16:16 fertilizer was shown to enhance vegetative growth and yield of mustard greens grown in the wick hydroponic system, thereby increasing crop productivity. The application of NPK 16:16:16 fertilizer at a concentration of 0.5 g/L is recommended for mustard green cultivation in a wick hydroponic system as an effective fertilization alternative to improve plant growth and increase harvest yield.

Abstract

Optimalisasi lahan kosong menjadi kebun produktif dan kebun herbal merupakan upaya strategis untuk mendukung hidup sehat, ketahanan pangan, dan keberlanjutan lingkungan. Program pengabdian masyarakat ini dilaksanakan di Desa Paya Meugendrang, Kecamatan Woyla Timur, Kabupaten Aceh Barat selama 44 hari melalui pendekatan partisipatif yang melibatkan warga secara aktif. Metode yang digunakan meliputi identifikasi lahan, sosialisasi, perencanaan, penyiapan lahan, penanaman, pendampingan, pemantauan, dan evaluasi bersama. Hasilnya menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan masyarakat dalam pertanian organik, diversifikasi tanaman, dan pengolahan hasil panen menjadi produk bernilai tambah. Selain itu, kebun produktif dan kebun herbal memberikan manfaat nyata bagi ketahanan pangan lokal, pelestarian lingkungan, dan peningkatan kesadaran hidup sehat. Keberhasilan program ini menunjukkan bahwa integrasi aspek kesehatan, pangan, dan lingkungan dapat menjadi model pemberdayaan masyarakat yang berkelanjutan dan berpotensi untuk direplikasi di desa-desa lain.

Abstract

Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memberdayakan masyarakat Desa Seunebok Dalam melalui pemanfaatan lahan tidur menjadi kebun sayur produktif sebagai upaya meningkatkan kemandirian dan ketahanan pangan lokal. Metode kegiatan yang digunakan adalah Participatory Action with Training and Demonstration Plot, yang meliputi tahapan observasi, sosialisasi, pelatihan pembuatan pupuk organik cair berbahan eceng gondok, demonstrasi budidaya sayuran (bayam, sawi, dan kangkung), serta pendampingan dan monitoring keberlanjutan program. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan pada partisipasi masyarakat dan keterampilan dalam pengelolaan lahan tidak produktif menjadi kebun sayur bernilai ekonomi. Masyarakat juga mampu memproduksi pupuk organik cair secara mandiri dan memanfaatkannya dalam budidaya hortikultura. Selain memberikan dampak ekonomi melalui peningkatan pendapatan rumah tangga, kegiatan ini juga memperkuat solidaritas sosial, kesadaran lingkungan, serta menumbuhkan budaya gotong royong. Simpulan, bahwa pemanfaatan lahan tidur melalui pengembangan kebun sayur berbasis komunitas efektif dalam meningkatkan ketahanan pangan, kemandirian ekonomi, dan kesejahteraan masyarakat desa secara berkelanjutan.   Kata Kunci: Pemberdayaan Masyarakat, Lahan Tidur, Kebun Sayur, Pupuk Organik, Ketahanan Pangan

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe presence of weeds in peanut cultivation areas can cause a decline in productivity. In Ujong Tanoh Darat Village, farmers do not use mulch in peanut cultivation, making them more susceptible to weeds and greatly affecting crop yields. This study aims to identify the types and diversity of weeds in peanut cultivation fields in Ujong Tanoh Darat Village. The research location was selected using purposive sampling. Data collection was carried out using the quadrat method by placing 10 plots measuring 0.5 m2 x 0.5 m2 randomly. Seven weed species were found in peanut cultivation fields, including Melochia corchorifolia L., Eleusine indica, Spermacoce latifolia, Ludwigia octovalvis, Cyperus sphacelatus Rottb., Paspalum paniculatum L., and Echinochloa crus-galli L. Eleusine indica (SDR 46.98%) and Melochia corchorifolia (SDR 27.30%) were found to have the highest dominance levels, while Paspalium paniculatum L (SDR 3.27%) had the lowest. The diversity index (H' = 1.356) and weed evenness (E = 0.697) indicated moderate diversity with uneven population distribution. Meanwhile, the species richness index (Dₘg = 1.27) was low due to the dominance of certain species. This condition confirms that the presence of dominant weeds has the potential to significantly reduce peanut productivity, so control needs to be focused on sustainable strategies through an Integrated Weed Management (IWM) approach that combines mechanical, cultural and chemical methods selectively.Keywords: Diversity, Eleusine indica, Peanuts, Vegetation Analysis, Weeds
