Abstract

This study aimed to determine the level of protection provided by supplementation of Azolla microphylla flour in broiler feed against the antibody titers profile of Avian Influenza and Newcastle Disease. The research was conducted over two months (July-August 2021) at the broiler unit of the Integrated Field Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung. The experimental design was a Completely Randomized Design with four treatments and five replications. Each replication consisted of five Cobb CP707 strain broilers, resulting in 100 broilers. Azolla microphylla flour supplementation in the feed was administered at different doses: P0=100% commercial feed (control); P1=97.5% commercial feed + 2.5% Azolla microphylla flour; P2=95% commercial feed + 5% Azolla microphylla flour; P3=92.5% commercial feed + 7.5% Azolla microphylla flour. Serum samples were collected from 30-day-old broilers, with one sample taken from each replication, totalling 20 samples. The samples were analyzed for Avian Influenza and Newcastle Disease antibody titers at AGRILab Vaksindo Laboratory using the Hemagglutination Inhibition test. Each treatment's antibody titer data for Avian Influenza and Newcastle Disease were tabulated and presented in histograms to facilitate descriptive analysis. Antibody titers (log2 X) of Avian Influenza 4.00±0.71 and Newcastle Disease 4.60±2.07 from P2 were included in the protection level based on the WOAH Standard. The study concluded that supplementing 5% Azolla microphylla flour in broiler feed increases the antibody titers against Avian Influenza and Newcastle Disease to protective levels.

Abstract

This study was conducted at the Regional Technical Service Unit for Artificial Insemination, Lampung District, Terbanggi Besar Subdistrict, Central Lampung Regency, Lampung Province, from January 25 to 30, 2023. The objective of this research was to determine the effect of different types of egg yolk and to identify the best type of egg yolk in tris diluent on the quality of frozen semen of Brahman cattle. The experimental design used was a Completely Randomized Design with three treatments: standard egg yolk, herbal egg yolk, and omega-3 enriched egg yolk, each with six replications. The data obtained were analyzed using ANOVA at the 5% and 1% significance levels, and if significant, further analyzed with Duncan’s Multiple Range Test. The results showed that the different types of egg yolk in tris diluent had no significant effect (P>0.05) on post-thaw spermatozoa abnormalities, had a significant effect (P<0.05) on post-thaw spermatozoa motility, and had a highly significant effect (P<0.01) on the percentage of live spermatozoa post-thawing. The conclusion of this study was that the addition of standard egg yolk and omega-3 enriched egg yolk in tris diluent has a better effect on the motility and percentage of live spermatozoa of Brahman cattle compared to the addition of herbal egg yolk.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effects and identify the optimal treatment of adding soybean meal, zinc (Zn), and chromium (Cr) on the total erythrocyte count, hemoglobin levels, and packed cell volume in Rambon goats. The research was conducted from November 2022 to January 2023 at the goat pen of the Department of Animal Husbandry, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung. Total erythrocyte count and packed cell volume were assessed at the Pathology Laboratory of the Lampung Veterinary Center, while hemoglobin levels were analyzed at the Laboratory of Physiology and Animal Reproduction, Department of Animal Husbandry, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung.The experiment involved 12 male Rambon goats and employed a Randomized Block Design (RBD) based on body weight, with four treatments and three replicates. The treatments were as follows: P1: Basal ration, P2: Basal ration 90% + 10% soybean meal, P3: Basal ration + organic minerals (40 ppm Zn lysinate + 0.3 ppm Cr lysinate), and P4: Basal ration 90% + 10% soybean meal + organic minerals (40 ppm Zn lysinate + 0.3 ppm Cr lysinate). Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) at a significance level of 5%.The observed variables included total erythrocyte count, hemoglobin levels, and packed cell volume. The results indicated that the addition of soybean meal, Zn, and Cr had no significant effect (P>0.05) on total erythrocyte count, hemoglobin levels, or packed cell volume. However, the supplementation was found to maintain normal values for these parameters, with a tendency to increase total erythrocyte count (P4), hemoglobin levels (P3), and packed cell volume (P2) within normal limits.

Abstract

Newcastle Disease, Avian Influenza and Infectious Bursal Disease are three important broiler diseases with high morbidity and mortality that can increase broiler antibody titers. The aims of this study were to determine the effect and the best dose of immunomodulatory supplementation of Sambiloto (Andrographis paniculata) liquid extract by increasing the antibody titer of Newcastle Disease, Avian Influenza and Infectious Bursal Disease of broilers. The study was conducted for 30 days in the Karang Anyar broiler farm unit, Jati Agung District, South Lampung Regency, Lampung Province, experimentally five treatments and five repetitions for each treatment. Each repetition used five broilers. Five treatments with different doses, namely drinking water without liquid extract of Andrographis paniculata (P0); drinking water with liquid extract of A. paniculata 3 mg/kg BW (P1); 6 mg/kg BW (P2); 12 mg/kg BW (P3); (24 mg/kg BW (P4) 31-day-old broiler blood serum was obtained from the brachial vein using a 3 mL disposable syringe. Testing ND and AI antibody titers with HI test and IBD antibody titer with indirect ELISA test at MediLab Laboratory Antibody titer data in tabulation and analyzed descriptively. The content of andrographolide and flavonoids are thought to act as immunostimulants for specific and non-specific immune functions through the production of NK cells, macrophages, cytokine induction, IL-2 production, and lymphocyte proliferation. The conclusions of this study were supplementation of Sambiloto (Andrographis paniculata) liquid extract at a dose of 6 mg/kg BW in broiler drinking water could increase antibody titers against Newcastle Disease and Infectious Bursal Disease and at a dose of 24 mg/kg BW in broiler drinking water could increase antibody titres against Avian Influenza.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan LCarnitine terhadap motilitas dan viabilitas semen cair Domba Ekor Tipisdalam pengencer tris kuning telur. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan padatanggal 7-8 Desember 2023 di Jurusan Peternakan, UniversitasLampung. Penelitian ini dilakukan menggunakan Rancangan AcakLengkap dengan 4 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan. Perlakuannya adalah P0:kontrol, P1: penambahan L-Carnitine sebanyak 0,6 mg/100 mlpengencer, P2: penambahan L-Carnitine sebanyak 1,2 mg/100 mlpengencer dan P3: penambahan L-Carnitine sebanyak 2,4 mg/100 mlpengencer. Data motilitas dan viabilitas dianalisis ragam dengan taraf5% dan diuji lanjut polinomial ortogonal. Hasil penelitian inimenunjukkan bahwa penambahan L-Carnitine pada pengencer triskuning telur tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap motilitas dan viabilitasspermatozoa. Hasil polinomial ortogonal motilitas pascapengenceranmenunjukkan persamaan Y= 64,752–2,2519 X–0,8996 X², X (dosisoptimal) sebesar 1,25 mg dan Y (persentase tertinggi) sebesar 62,35%.Viabilitas pascapengenceran menunjukkan persamaan Y=63,056+0,0818 X-0,6752 X², X (dosis optimal) sebesar 0,6mg dan Y(persentase tertinggi) sebesar 63,3%. Motilitas penyimpanan 3 jammenunjukkan persamaan Y= 15,623+4,4394 X–2,399 X², X (dosisoptimal) sebesar 0,92mg dan Y (persentase tertinggi) sebesar 17,68%.Viabilitas 3 jam penyimpanan menunjukkan persamaan Y= 59,479–4,8043 X+1,6989 X², X (dosis optimal) sebesar 1,41mg dan Y(persentase tertinggi) sebesar 56,1%. Hasil penelitian ini dapatdisimpulkan bahwa penambahan L-Carnitine yang optimal untukmotilitas pascapengenceran: 1,25mg/100ml, viabilitaspascapengenceran: 0,6mg/100ml, motilitas setelah 3 jam penyimpanan:0,92mg/100ml, dan viabilitas setelah 3 jam penyimpanan:1,41mg/100ml

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kadar HDL (High Density Lipoprotein) dan LDL (Low Density Lipoprotein) pada darah kambing peranakan etawa yang diberikan pakan imbangan hijauan (daun singkong) dan konsentrat. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan November-Desember 2023 di Peternakan Morgan Farm, Kecamatan Gedong Tataan, Kabupaten Pesawaran. dan pengujian dilakukan di Laboratorium Pramitra Biolab Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan 3 perlakuan dan 3 ulangan pada Kambing PE betina dalam produksi susu yang berbeda. Perlakuan pakan terdiri dari 3 imbangan: P1 (25% hijauan + 75% konsentrat), P2 (50% hijauan + 50% konsentrat), dan P3 (75% hijauan +25% konsentrat). Data hasil penelitian dianalisis menggunakan analisis ragam pada taraf 5% dan uji lanjut DUNCAN untuk peubah yang berbeda nyata Rataan HDL dan Rataan LDL pada penelitian ini berturut-turut dari P1, P2, dan P3 yaitu HDL (78,09 mg/dL; 60,42 mg/dL; dan 49,53 mg/dL), LDL (50,33 mg/dL; 44,33 mg/dL; dan 31,67 mg/dL). Data yang diperoleh pada penelitian ini yaitu pemberian imbangan pakan hijauan (daun singkong) dan konsentrat berpengaruh nyata (P<0,05) terhadap kadar HDL dan tidak berpengaruh nyata (P>0,05) terhadap LDL kambing PE. Berdasarkan kesimpulan penelitian ini perlakuan terbaik yang didapatkan yaitu pada P3 (75% hijauan +25% konsentrat).

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan vitamin C, vitamin E, dan L-carnitine dalam pengencer tris kuning telur terhadap kualitas semen cair Domba Ekor Tipis. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Desember 2023 bertempat di Jurusan Peternakan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Lampung. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan. Perlakuannya yaitu P0; kontrol, P1; penambahan Vitamin C 500 mg/100 ml pengencer, P2; penambahan Vitamin E 500 mg/100 ml pengencer, P3; penambahan L- carnitine 0,60 mg/100 ml pengencer. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis ragam dengan taraf 5% dan diuji lanjut dengan uji Beda Nyata Terkecil (BNT). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa, penambahan Vitamin C, Vitamin E dan L-Carnitine dalam pengencer tris kuning telur pada semen Domba Ekor Tipis berpengaruh nyata (P<0,05) terhadap motilitas spermatozoa setelah 3 jam penyimpanan, akan tetapi tidak berpengaruh nyata (P>0,05) terhadap motilitas pascapengenceran, viabilitas pascapengenceran dan abnormalitas pascapengenceran maupun setelah 3 jam penyimpanan. Pengenceran semen Domba Ekor Tipis dengan tris kuning telur tanpa penambahan vitamin C, Vitamin E, dan L-Carnitine menghasilkan motilitas paling tinggi pada 3 jam penyimpanan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan milkreplacer dalam ransum terhadap total eritrosit, kadar hemoglobin, dannilai packed cell volume pada Kambing Cross Boer jantan umur lepassapih, yang dilaksanakan pada Maret– April 2024 di Kahfi Farm, DesaFajar Baru, Kecamatan Jati Agung, Kabupaten Lampung Selatan,Provinsi Lampung. Penelitian ini dilakukan secara eksperimentalmenggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan empat perlakuandan tiga kali ulangan. Perlakuan pada penelitian ini yaitu P0:100 kgransum basal; P1: 100 kg ransum basal+2,5 kg milk replacer; P2: 100kg ransum basal+5 kg milk replacer; dan P3:100 kg ransum basal+7,5kg milk replacer. Koleksi darah dilakukan melalui vena jugularis dandarah dimasukkan pada tabung EDTA. Pemeriksaan total eritrosit, kadarhemoglobin, dan nilai packed cell volume dilaksanakan di LaboratoriumPatologi Balai Veteriner Lampung. Analisis data dilakukan secaradeskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa total eritrosit sebesarP0: 7,11x106/µL; P1: 7,80x106/µL; dan P2: 7,97x106/µL; dan P3:7,82x106/µL. Kadar hemoglobin sebesar P0: 8,00 g/dl; P1: 5,57 g/dl; P2:7,47 g/dl; dan P3: 6,30 g/dl, dan nilai packed cell volume sebesar P0:19,87%; P1: 22,43%; P2: 22,73%; dan P3: 22,27%. Berdasarkanpenelitian yang telah dilakukan, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwapenambahan milk replacer dalam ransum dapat mempertahankan totaleritrosit dan nilai packed cell volume, tetapi menurunkan kadarhemoglobin Kambing Cross Boer jantan umur lepas sapih.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menilai tingkat infestasi cacing saluran pencernaan pada kambing Rambon yang terkait dengan usia dan jenis kelamin di Maryono Farm, Kecamatan Kemiling, di Kota Bandar Lampung. Kegiatan penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Agustus tahun 2024, berlokasi di Maryono Farm, Kecamatan Kemiling, Bandar Lampung. Pengujian sampel feses yang dikumpulkan dalam penelitian ini dilakukan di Laboratorium Parasitologi Balai Veteriner di Kota Bandar Lampung. Dalam penelitian ini, metode purposive sampling diterapkan, dan analisis sampel feses dilakukan di Laboratorium Parasitologi Balai Veteriner Lampung menggunakan Metode uji Mc.Master, jumlah sampel yaitu sebanyak 60 sampel dan dikelompokkan berdasarkan umur <1 tahun dan >1 tahun. Hasil analisis yang diperoleh kemudian disajikan dalam bentuk tabel, serta menghitung tingkat infestasi cacing saluran pencernaan pada kambing Rambon, dengan data yang disampaikan secara deskriptif. Ditemukan kesimpulan bahwa tingkat infestasi cacing saluran pencernaan mencapai 48,33%, dengan 29 sampel positif, dari 60 total sampel. di mana infestasi cacing saluran pencernaan terbanyak terdiri dari infestasi tunggal cacing saluran pencernaan sebesar 25% dibandingkan infestasi campuran 23,33%; jenis cacing yang teridentifikasi yaitu Strongyloides sp., Oesophagostomum sp., Trichostrongylus sp., Moniezia sp., dan Haemonchus sp.; tingkat infestasi cacing saluran pencernaan berdasarkan jenis kelamin menunjukkan kambing Rambon jantan sebesar 37,93% dan betina sebesar 62,07%; sementara itu, tingkat infestasi berdasarkan usia kambing Rambon yang berusia kurang dari 1 tahun sebesar 24,14% dan yang berusia lebih dari 1 tahun sebesar 75,86%.

Abstract

The lack of knowledge regarding organic waste management poses a significant challenge in various regions, including Pekon Panutan and Pagelaran District. Improper waste management can lead to negative impacts such as environmental pollution and health issues. One viable solution is to utilize organic waste as a valuable product through maggot cultivation. Maggots are the larvae of the Black Soldier Fly (BSF), which can decompose organic waste into high-quality compost (kasgot) used as animal feed. BUMDes Arthomoro in Pekon Panutan has the potential to enhance the economic value of waste through maggot utilization, which is supported by abundant organic waste, sufficient human resources, and community support. This community service aims to raise awareness and encourage community participation in maggot utilization. The results indicate increased residents' understanding of managing organic waste and active participation in the maggot cultivation program. The methods used include socialization and practical maggot farming training. The program received positive feedback and appreciation from community members, successfully improving participants' understanding of maggot farming as a solution for organic waste management and an opportunity to enhance economic income. This success was vital to good initial coordination, participant enthusiasm, and support from the Pekon Head and relevant stakeholders.
