Abstract

The youth sports system is a complex ecosystem involving various stakeholders, including coaches, teammates, sports organizations, and parents. Parental involvement should not be viewed in isolation but in relation to other elements within this system. For example, parent-coach interactions can influence the motivational climate, which shapes young athletes' perceptions and behaviors. Moreover, individual factors such as parents’ beliefs and values toward sports impact how they engage in their children’s athletic experiences. Excessive expectations may create pressure and reduce enjoyment, while supportive parenting is linked to greater intrinsic motivation and satisfaction in youth. Adolescents’ developmental stages also play a critical role. As adolescents undergo physical, cognitive, and psychosocial changes, their needs and responses to parental involvement evolve. Older adolescents may seek greater autonomy, requiring parents to adjust their involvement accordingly. This literature review aims to synthesize research on parental involvement in youth sports, considering the dynamic interactions between parents, adolescents, coaches, and sports organizations. By integrating developmental and contextual perspectives, this review seeks to offer a comprehensive understanding of how parental involvement shapes youth sports experiences. The findings are expected to inform best practices that support positive youth development through appropriately tailored parental engagement in sports.

Abstract

Introduction: A decrease in pulse rate is the most important part that can be measured to support the effectiveness of the training program. In volleyball, which requires a long game time, coaches must also know the process of effective and efficient cooling exercises that can be used to lower the pulse rate. Cool-down training is one way to reduce the pulse rate. Objectives: This study aims to measure the effects of active and passive cooling exercises on physiological responses, one of which is pulse rate. Method: The method used in this study is a quantitative method with an experimental approach with a research design of a two-group pre-test post-test design. The population in this study was Female Volleyball Athletes of Club Bahana Bina Pakuan Bandung City, with an age group of 15-17 years, many of 16 people. The sampling technique used was total sampling, with a total population of 16 people who became the research sample. The instrument used is a Polar H10 device to measure the pulse rate that drops when given active and passive cooling exercises. Result: The results of this study indicate that a more significant decrease in pulse rate is achieved when using active cooling exercises; the effectiveness obtained is 5.70%, whereas passive cooling exercises result in a significant decrease by 3.68%. Conclusion: This study provides recommendations for coaches to continue to see the decline that occurs when given a cooling exercise program. It is also expected that coaches have polar devices to monitor the condition of athletes.

Abstract

Urban farming is increasingly developing and gaining attention, especially because of its multifunctionality and positive effects on aspects of livelihoods, household food security, health, providing social space, green infrastructure, biodiversity, creating short food supply chains, and building social cohesion. However, urban farming can only be implemented successfully if people view it positively and accept it in their communities. The success of urban farming is rooted in the positive perceptions of those who live nearby, and these perceptions greatly influence individual acceptance. Thus, studying community perceptions will help in designing strategies to achieve successful adoption of urban farming. This research aims to describe and analyze the perceptions of the community implementing the program regarding the benefits of the urban farming program. The research design used is quantitative research using Rasch Modeling. The sample collection technique was a census, which came from members of the urban farming group in RW 04 Pajajaran District, Cicendo, Bandung City. The research results show that the community has benefited sufficiently from the existence of the urban farming program in their location. The community perception of the benefits of urban farming is that urban farming can keep the environment green, beautiful and productive. However, people think that urban farming cannot minimize household food consumption costs. This means, in implementing urban farming, environmental aspects are considered more dominant as benefits compared to aspects of respondent household resilience.

Abstract

Rowing athlete performance is greatly influenced by aerobic capacity, explosive strength, and precise technical coordination. One strategy widely used to support performance improvement is altitude training, namely training in hypoxic conditions through the Live High-Train Low (LHTL), Live High-Train High (LHTH), and Intermittent Hypoxic Training (IHT) methods. Hypoxic exposure is believed to stimulate an increase in erythropoietin (EPO), which in turn increases hemoglobin (Hb), hematocrit (Hct), and total hemoglobin mass (Hbmass), thereby optimizing the body's oxygen transport capacity. This study aims to systematically examine the effect of altitude training on blood components and the performance of elite rowing athletes. The study was conducted using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach based on the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Data sources were obtained through the Publish or Perish tool with a publication year range of 2015–2025, and inclusion criteria focused on Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT) studies examining the effects of altitude training on elite rowing athletes. The results of the analysis showed that the LHTL method with a duration of 3–4 weeks and hypoxic exposure of ≥12 hours per day provided a significant increase in Hb, Hct, Hbmass, as well as aerobic capacity such as VO₂max and peak power output. However, there are variations in individual responses between "responders" and "non-responders," as well as differences in study design that cause the results to be inconsistent. Factors such as training intensity, initial fitness status, and nutritional support also influence the effectiveness of the intervention. Therefore, it can be concluded that altitude training has the potential to be an effective strategy to improve the performance of rowing athletes through hematological and physiological adaptations, with LHTL as the most promising method. This research is expected to provide theoretical contributions to the development of sports coaching science as well as practical recommendations for coaches and federations in developing evidence-based training programs.
