Abstract

Analysis of the ability to solve problems using Polya's steps on linear programming material in terms of learning styles is a description of students' ability to solve problems using Polya's steps on linear programming materials which are reviewed based on students' learning styles. The learning styles used according to DePorter and Hernacki are visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles. This research is a descriptive qualitative research with the aim of knowing and describing students' ability to solve problems using Polya's steps in terms of visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles. The subjects of this study were students of class XI MAS-PPM Nurul Falah Palu who were selected by one representative student each from the results of a learning style questionnaire that grouped students with visual, auditory and kinesthetic learning styles. . The results of data analysis show that, (1) In understanding the problem, students with visual, auditory and kinesthetic learning styles show relevant understanding by gathering information contained in the questions and can identify problems from the questions with their knowledge of the "statement" and "question" sentences, although with a different writing style. The difference is seen in students with kinesthetic learning styles.. (2) In planning problem solving, subjects with visual and auditory learning styles can plan strategically well to achieve the goals to be achieved in a problem and can choose relevant information from the problem. While subjects with kinesthetic learning styles are quite good in planning problem solving but in developing strategies they are still not suitable to be able to solve problems properly. (3) In carrying out problem solving plans, subjects with visual learning styles are very good at executing, carrying out plans and are able to organize and integrate problems with relevant previous knowledge, as well as auditory subjects even with different writing styles. Meanwhile, subjects with kinesthetic learning styles cannot solve them properly because they are unable to integrate problems with previous knowledge. (4) In re-examining, subjects with visual and auditory learning styles carry out re-examinations because they can monitor, check or detect end results and unexpected events. Meanwhile, subjects with kinesthetic learning styles did not re-examine such as visual and auditory subjects because they were not sure about the problem solving they were doing.

Abstract

The objectives of this research are; (1) to obtain a description of the problem solving of class X MIPA1 students who have the FI cognitive style in solving the absolute value equation at SMA Negeri 1 Pamona Selatan, (2) to obtain a description of the problem solving of class X MIPA1 students who have the FD cognitive style in solving the value equation absolutely in SMA Negeri 1 Pamona Selatan. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive research. The subjects in this study were 2 students taken from 20 students of class X MIPA1 SMA Negeri 1 Pamona Selatan who took the GEFT test. The results of this study indicate that students' problem solving with field independent cognitive style is based on Polya's steps, namely; (1) in understanding the problem, the field independent subject can write down completely what is known and asked in the question correctly, (2) at the planning stage, the field independent subject can relate the things that are known and asked in the question, so that in making problem-solving planning field independent subjects make plans correctly, (3) at the stage of implementing the problem-solving plan field independent subjects can perform calculations properly and correctly, (4) at the stage of rechecking the answers field independent subjects are able to recalculate the answers they get and able to provide conclusions on the answers obtained. The results of student problem solving with field dependent cognitive style are: (1) in understanding the field dependent subject problem can write completely what is known and asked in the question correctly, (2) at the stage of making field dependent subject planning is able to plan problem solving but inaccurate, (3) at the stage of implementing the problem-solving plan, the field dependent subject could not do the calculations correctly, (4) at the stage of re-examining the answers, the field dependent subject did not re-examine the answers obtained and did not provide conclusions on the answers he had obtained. Based on the description above, it can be concluded that the FI subject carried out the four Polya steps in solving the absolute value equation problem solving, in contrast to the FD subject who only performed Polya's three steps in solving the absolute value problem solving.

Abstract

This research intends to describe the application of the Realistic Mathematic Education (RME) approach to profit and loss material of the VII B grade at MTs Nurul Falah Palu. This type of classroom action research (PTK). Design used in this classroom action research was Arikunto’s that consisted of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The Subject of this research were 20 students of class VII B MTs Nurul Falah Palu. This research was conducted in two cycles. The results showed that in the final test cycle I there were 11 students who completed and 9 students did not complete with a percentage of classical learning completeness reaching 55%, while in cycle II there were 16 students completing and 4 students not completing with a classical learning completeness percentage reaching 80%. The observation results in cycle I showed that the activities of teachers and student groups were in the good category, while in the second cycle the activities of teachers and student groups were in the very good category. The results of this study indicate that the application of the Realistic Mathematic Education learning approach can improve student learning outcomes on the profit and loss material of class VII B grade at MTs Nurul Falah Palu through the following steps:1) understanding the contextual problems, in this stage the teacher presented contextual problems in LKPD and students discuss in their groups to understand the problems given by the teacher, 2) Explaining the problem, the teacher provides help if its needed in the form of questions that can direct students to solve problems 3) solving the problem, students in each group work together to solve the problems through following working steps of LKPD 4) comparing, and discussing the answer, each of group representative presents their answer in order from problem solving and the other member of group compare the answer they have to answer presented by the other group, 5) concluding, teacher guided students to conclude material they just learn. The props used are play money.

Abstract

The study is a qualitative research that aims to describe the students' mistakes in solving number pattern problems in class VIII C SMP Negeri 3 Banawa. The subjects of this study were 2 students drawn from 15 grade VIII C students at SMP Negeri 3 Banawa for the 2022/2023 school year who had studied number pattern material. The selection subjects of this study took into consideration, namely: (1) two students made more mistakes than other students, (2) had different mistakes, (3) mistakes could represent mistakes made by other students, (4) students could communicate well, and (5) recommendations from mathematics teachers of SMP Negeri 3 Banawa. The data collection techniques used are assignments and interviews. The analysis in this study used the Newman stage. The results of this study show several errors experienced by students in solving number pattern problems, namely: (1) Transformation error, namely students are wrong in determining the formula in and do not know the formula to be used in solving the problem, (2) Process ability error, namely students do not change Un to U12 and Un to U15, and students are wrong in performing calculation operations, (3) Error writing the final answer, namely students do not know and do not write the final conclusion.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain information related to whether there are differences in students' mathematics learning outcomes between offline and online learning at SMP Negeri 1 Palu. The research method used in this study is the comparative method. The population in this study were all grade VII students of SMP Negeri 1 Palu with a total of 352 students. The research sample was grade VII students who carried out offline and online learning, with different samples but had the same level of academic ability. The sampling technique in this study was Purposive Sampling. The researcher took 32 class A students and 32 class B students, so the number of samples taken was 64 people. The data collection technique in this study was by taking mid-semester test scores on the material Linear Equations and Inequalities of One Variable in the 2021/2022 Academic Year obtained by students during online learning and mid-semester test scores on Linear Equations and Inequalities of One Variable in the 2022/2023 Academic Year obtained by students during offline learning. On condition that the material taught is equivalent during offline and online learning and students have the same level of academic ability. The collected data is then processed using t-test statistical analysis. Based on the data analysis obtained: (1). The results of learning mathematics during online learning obtained an average value of 71.94; (2). The results of learning mathematics during offline learning obtained an average value of 58.56; (3). Sig. value. (2-tailed) 0.00 <0.05. This means that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. So the results of the study show that there is a difference in the results of learning mathematics of students taught with offline learning and online learning.
