Abstract

This research aims to identify the challenges and opportunities in integrating digital literacy skills into history education. This research focuses on understanding educators' difficulties in integrating digital technologies into the traditional history curriculum. Educational technology as a means and facility to support education and learning is no exception for historical knowledge through access to historical websites. This study analyses digital literacy toward historical knowledge using the Bukittinggi City history website. This research is quantitative research with a survey approach with closed-ended questions. The research population is the millennial generation in Indonesia. Samples were taken with a non-probability sampling approach with purposive sampling. This study involved 831 respondents spread throughout Indonesia. The data analysis technique is partial Least Square Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM). The results showed no difference in historical knowledge scores between males and girls. With a value of 0.697 and a 69.7% variance, the coefficient of determination (R2) result demonstrates significant volatility in historical knowledge. Additionally, Q2's value serves as a gauge for the model's predictive usefulness. The predictive relevance of the model's independent variables was assessed using the predictive relevance test (Q2). Men might be more adept at using online resources to broaden their knowledge of the city's past. Understanding the disparities in digital literacy between men and women will significantly impact the design of educational and literacy programs in Bukittinggi. Abstract

The Internet’s increasing connectivity through devices and systems, particularly with the Internet of Things (IoT), has expanded the threat landscape, making cybersecurity a constantly evolving field. Phishing is a common and emerging cyber-attack that attempts to deceive individuals and persuade them to disclose sensitive information, such as passwords, financial information, or personal data. Researchers have studied phishing extensively in recent years to understand its mechanisms, strategies, and potential solutions. This research examines essential factors that affect how online users behave regarding security in cyberspace, focusing on phishing attacks through the Health Belief Model (HBM). Understanding what influences users' security behaviors is crucial for building strong defenses. A survey was sent to students via WhatsApp and email, with 252 participants. The results were analyzed using quantitative methods. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) revealed that perceived barriers, self-efficacy, and privacy concerns were the main determinants of students' security behaviors. Students were particularly concerned about the misuse of their personal information. Despite varying levels of formal cybersecurity education, most students demonstrated confidence in configuring web browser security settings. The findings underscore the importance of tailored educational interventions and user-friendly security tools. Future research could explore additional security issues such as spyware, adware, and spam attacks. Additionally, leveraging machine learning and deep learning algorithms offers promising avenues for enhancing phishing detection and mitigation strategies. Furthermore, this study contributes to understanding cybersecurity behaviors, providing valuable insights for policymakers, educators, and developers to foster a safer online environment.

Abstract

In efforts to minimize harmful greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and mitigate climate change, energy efficiency has become a global priority. Commercial buildings, including university facilities such as Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM), play a significant role in this effort, particularly in becoming a smart campus. Commercial buildings have been identified as major contributors to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, primarily due to their high energy consumption for air conditioning, lighting, and other operational needs. In alignment with the Paris Agreement 2016, the Malaysian government has implemented various energy-saving initiatives to reduce carbon emissions and achieve Energy Efficient Building Star Ratings. This study analyses five years of energy consumption at UPNM using the desktop audit method. Data collected from January 2018 to December 2022 includes the Nett Floor Area (NFA), energy consumption, and maximum demand of the UPNM buildings. The analysis encompasses energy consumption and expenditure, maximum demand, Building Energy Intensity (BEI), carbon footprint, and building energy labeling under the National Building Energy Labelling Standard. The findings indicate that UPNM has achieved a 5-star rating in 2020 and 2021, compared to a 4-star rating in 2018, 2019, and 2022. The BEI of UPNM buildings from 2018 to 2022 met the Energy Commission (EC) requirement of being below 135 kWh/m²/year. This study has also identified recommendations for further enhancing the energy efficiency of the UPNM Building, including regular maintenance of electrical appliances and conducting energy efficiency awareness campaigns.
