Abstract

ABSTRACTFilter net has a mesh size in small size pockets of the net. This allows filter net has the potential to be non-selective fishing gear about the fish size and the target species catch. If the fishing gear allowed, hence its existence will ultimately have a negative impact on the sustainability of fisheries resources, especially in coastal waters. The objective of this research is to calculate compositions and proportions of the main catch, bycatch and discard of the filter net. It is expected by knowing  the composition and proportion of the main catch, bycatch and discard can provide an overview  of the pressure on the stock and sustainability of fisheries resources in  waters where it is operated. This research was used survey method. A series of survey activities was conducted directly in the field to identify and count species of filter net‘s fishing catches. Based on the main catch, bycatch and discard of the filter net, it shows that Sergetes similis is the dominant species caught bythe filter net(98.455%).  The main catch for Escualosa thoracata reaches 1.354%. Besides, the main catches that were caught were Metapenaus monocerus, Parapenaeopsis sp, Panulirus sp and Paneeus monodon with the catch percentage ranging from 0.011 to 0.024%. Percentage of by-catches reached 0.04-0.00004% of the 24 species caught and the catch removed was around 0.001-0.0005% of the 3 species caught. Keywords: bycatch, discard, filter net, fisheries resources, main catchABSTRAKGombang memiliki ukuran mata jaring pada kantong berukuran kecil.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research was conducted on July 6, 2018 at Kuala Tungkal Beach Fisheries Port (PPP), West Tanjung Jabung, Jambi Province. The purpose of this study was to determine the role of facilities that support the continuity of fish landing activity at the Kuala Tungkal Beach Fisheries Port (PPP). The data was gathered through direct observation, questionnaires and interviews with respondents. Facilities play a role in supporting the continuity of fishing port’s operation. Insufficiency or unavailability from one of the necessary facilities would inhibit the continuity of the port’s operation. This problem is often found in many fishing ports. Kuala Tungkal Beach Fisheries Port is one of the only type C fishing ports in Jambi Province which opens opportunities for investors both from within and outside the country. The analysis was done descriptively after identification of existing facilities and activities and recalculation of the capacity place for fish auction, dock and port pool. One of the facilities of fish landing activity in Kuala Tungkal Beach Fisheries Port (PPP), such as the fish auction place (TPI), is not used by fishermen so the utilization rate cannot be calculated. For dock facilities it has 80 m length and 2 m depth. Based on the calculation results showed that the required loading length is 27.14 m and the utilization rate is 6.88% and for port pool facilities it has 600 m2 area and 2 m depth. Based on the calculation of the required port pool area is 8.029.236 m2 with the utilization rate is 3.44%.Keywords: port facilities, fishing port, PPP Kuala Tungkal

Abstract

This research was conducted in August and November 2013 in the province of Riau Strait Bengkalis. The method used in this study is a survey method . The purpose of this study was to determine the potential catches Terubuk ( Tenualosa macrura ) in Bengkalis waters. The results showed that the results of the survey of the Terubuk fish were caught fishing waters Bengkalis the month from August to November 2013. Retrieved Terubuk number and size of fish caught as many as 3554 head comprising 1082 males and 2472 Terubuk tail tail Terubuk females . Terubuk fish growth speed at the time a young age faster than when the fish is old. The rapid growth of the young - old fish occurs because the energy obtained from food are mostly used for growth. In older fish the energy obtained from food is no longer used for growth, but only used to maintain it self and replace the damaged cells. The rate of death arrest ( F ) during the study period is higher than the rate of natural mortality ( M ) , so that the total mortality rate ( Z ) during the periods of the study are determined by the rate of death arrest ( F ). Terubuk fish mortality rate during the study period due to factors at the time of capture by fishing for migratory fish spawning . Terubuk endangered fish caused by two main factors : first, the seizure at the time of entry into migratory fish Strait Bengkalis, secondly, the quality of the water into a fish alive Terubuk diminishing. Keywords : Potential , Terubuk Fish , Aquatic Bengkalis
