Abstract

ABSTRAKPariaman City is a coastal and marine area, where fish products have an important role in the economic cycle, one of which is in Naras Village 1. This study aims to determine the selectivity of mesh size on the composition and size of catches on gill net. The method used in this study is experimental fishing, a method that uses a sample of objects to be observed. The results of this study indicate that there are 9 species of fish caught on a mesh size of 1.5 inch and 1.75 inch, kurisi (Nemipterus hexodon), barakuda (Sphyraena barracuda), mojjaras (Eucinostomus),selar kuning (Selaroides leptolepis), beloso (Saurida tumbill), parang-parang (Chirocentrus nudus), kembung (Rastrelliger spp), tenggiri (Scomberomorus commersoni), and kaci-kaci (Painted sweetlips). Dominant fish caught in both mesh sizes are 320 fish kurisi or 41% of the total catch, with a total length of 13.5 - 25.7 cm, fork length 11.5 - 23.2 cm, height 3 , 2 - 5.6 cm and weigh 40 - 170 g. Difference in mesh size that is not too large only gives a slight effect both on the total number of catches and the average fork length of fish caught. The most selective basic gill nets are gill nets with a mesh size of 1.75 inches, this is because the mesh size of 1.75 inches only catches large-sized fish that are worth catching and can pass small fish. Keywords: selectivity, bottom gillnet, fish kurisi, naras 1 village.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Schooling is the most important structure in the life of several pelagic fish populations. Pelagic fish can form a very large schooling so that it is one of the abundant fisheries resources in general waters (Welcome R. L, 2001). Because of this, fishermen can use the schooling to catch large amounts of pelagic fish. An effective method for detecting fish schooling is one of hydroacoustic methods. The purpose of this study was to detect pelagic fish schooling in Lake Toba waters in order to provide an accurate picture of the insitu conditions of the potential resources of Pelagic fish in Lake Toba. The data or material used in this study is the acoustic data of Lake Toba waters that have been recorded during the shipping period with a ship speed of 7-10 knots using a scientific echosounder biosonic DT-X Spilt Beam 200 kHZ. The results showed the distribution of pelagic fish schooling was detected at a depth of 5-110 meters as many as 36 fish schooling, the highest detected at depths of 1-10 meters as many as 11 fish schooling and the lowest 1 schooling at a depth of 50-60 meters. Based on time, the distribution of fish schooling in Lake Toba waters was detected at morning, afternoon and evening. In the morning 6 fish schooling were detected, noon 18 fish schooling and 12 fish schooling in the afternoon. Keywords: Detection, Schooling Fish, Hydroacoustic, Pelagic Fish

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe research was conducted in April 2018 in the river waters of Plau Jambu Village Kuok District Kampar Regency Riau Province. In the implementation of this study the data collected aims to determine changes in the physical properties of gillnet with different ages, namely 0 months, 3 months, 6 months, 12  months, as well as to obtain technical age in gillnets in river waters Pulau Jambu Village Kuok District Kampar Regency Riau Province. The research begins with samping in the field, then continued measurements (Breaking load, mesh elongation, and node stability), and analysis at the Fishing Equipment Material Laboratory of Department of Fisheries Resource Utilization, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Affairs, University of Riau. The Results of this study indicate that the breaking load on the mesh experienced a decrease with time, this can be see by the BP equation (Breaking load) = -0,0592x + 0,686. In the value of elongation also decreased with the equation of KM (Mesh elongation) = -0,479x + 14,34. Whereas for node stability there is no node shift because the net breaks at the foot of the thread instead of the loose node. Based on this study it can be concluded that the technical age of the net is 12 months. Keywords: Mesh size, gillnet, physical properties, usage age, technical age

Abstract

Abstract Palabuhanratu Fishing Port is one of the centers of fisheries activities which are currently in the stage of planning to upgrade the status of Ocean Fishing Port. Provision of good facilities and quality services is the most important thing in supporting these activities. However, the problems that exist in fishing ports have been the low level of operation and service of fishing ports caused by internal and external factors of the fishing port. This research was conducted to calculate the operational performance of the fishing port by observing operational activities and fishermen's satisfaction with port services. This research was carried out in May 2018 at the Palabuhanratu Fishing Port, Sukabumi Regency, West Java Province. The results of the analysis carried out showed that the operational performance of Palabuhanratu was included in the category of good enough with a value of 2.72.The achievement of this value is supported by the number of production and frequency of ship visits, each of which has 72.20% and 90.84% success rates, while for the provision of facilities and low service quality, with an average of 16%.This shows that further development of Palabuhanratu must pay more attention to the provision of facilities and quality of service. Keywords: Fisherman Satisfaction, Performance, Operational, Fishing Port
