The aim of this research is to describe the effectiveness of problem solving learning in improving communication and inference skills in colloid system material. Subjects in this research were students of XIIPA1 and XI IPA2 classrooms in Persada Junior High School in Bandar Lampung in academic year 2011-2012 where students of both classrooms had the same characteristics. This research used quasi experiment method and pretest-posttest control group design. Effectiveness of problem solving learning method was measured based in n-gain value. The results showed that average n-gain values of communication and inference skills were 0.28 and 0.31 respectively. It could be concluded that the problem solvinglearning in colloid system material was effective in improving inferring skill with high category and communication skill with medium criterion.Keywords : problem solving learning, communication and inference skills

This research is intended to describe the effectiveness of guided inquiry learning model applied in acid and alkali subject to improve categorizing skill and competency achievement. This research used Pre-experimental method by one-group pretest-posttest design. The subjects of this research are the second semester students of class XI IPA1 SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Bandar Lampung in academic year 2012-2013. The effectiveness of guided inquiry learning model showed by the increase of pretest and posttest scores that can be seen by the n-Gain value based on the result of the teaching learning process. The result showed n-Gain value of categorizing skill and competency achievement is 0,61 and 0,54, whereas the percentage of achievement of categorizing skill and competency achievement have reached KKM 82,75% and 75,86%. It can be conclude that guided inquiry learning model applied in acid and alkali effective in improving categorizing skill and competency achievement in medium criteria.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan efektivitas model pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing pada materi asam-basa dalam meningkatkan keterampilan mengelompokkan dan pencapaian kompetensi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode pre-experimental dengan one-group pretest-posttest design. Subjek penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa-siswi kelas XI IPA1 SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Bandar Lampung semester genap tahun ajaran 2012-2013. Efektivitas model pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing ditunjukkan oleh peningkatan nilai pretest dan posttest yang dilihat dari nilai n-Gain dan ketuntasan hasil belajar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai n-Gain keterampilan mengelompokkan dan pencapaian kompetensi 0,61 dan 0,54, sedangkan persentase ketuntasan hasil belajar keterampilan mengelompokkan dan pencapaian kompetensi mencapai KKM 82,75% dan 75,86%. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing pada materi asam-basa efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan mengelompokkan dan pencapaian kompetensi dengan kriteria sedang.Kata kunci: Inkuiri terbimbing, keterampilan mengelompokkan, pencapaian kompetensi.

This study was aimed to describe the effectiveness of the Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) learning model to improve science process skills (SPS) at hydrolyzing salt. The method in this research was quasi-experiment with the design was pretest-posttest control group design. The population in this study were all students of XI MIA class in one of senior high school in Lampung Selatan. The sample of the research was chosen by purposive sampling technique, XI MIA 1 as the experimental class and XI MIA 4 as the control class. The technique of data analysis was the two average difference by t-test. Based on the hypothesis test, there was a significant difference in the average n-gain of SPS between the experimental class and the control class, it showed that the POGIL learning model was effective to improve science process skills in hydrolyzing salt.Keywords: POGIL, science process skills (SPS), hydrolyzing salt.Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan efektivitas model pembelajaran Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) untuk meningkatkan keterampilan proses sains (KPS) pada materi garam menghidrolisis. Sampel penelitian ini dipilih dengan teknik purposive samplingyaitu kelas XI MIA 1 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas XI MIA 4 sebagai kelas kontrol. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah uji perbedaan dua rata-rata dengan uji t. Berdasarkan uji hipotesis, terdapat perbedaan rata-rata n-gain KPS yang signifikan antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol, hal tersebut menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran POGIL efektif untuk meningkatkan keterampilan proses sains pada materi garam menghidrolisis.Kata kunci : POGIL, keterampilan proses sains (KPS), garam menghidrolisis.

The aim of this research was to describe effectiveness of advance organizer learning model to improving skills of defining and taking conclusion skill on the matter of solubility and solubility product. The subject in this research were students in classroom XI IPA3 SMA N 7 Bandar Lampung. This research used a pre-experiment method with One Group pretest-posttest design. The effectiveness of advance organizer learning model was measured by the n-gain average. The research results showed that the average of n-gain values of skills in defining and drawing conclusions were 0.48 (middle category) and 0.54 (middle ca-tegory) respectively. This shows that (1) a model of advance organizer is effective to enhance the skill of defining in the medium category (2) a model of advance organizeris effective to enhance the skill of taking conclusion in the medium category.Keywords: advance organizer, skills in defining and taking conclusion

This research was aimed to describe the effectiveness of the Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) learning model to increase problem-solving ability in hydrolyzing salt topics. The method of this research was quasi-experimental with pretest-posttest control group design. The population of this research was all students of XI MIA one of Senior High School in Lampung Selatan. This research was aimed to describe the effectiveness of problem based learningon pollution by bleach wasteto improve higher order thingking skills. The method used quasi experiment with the matching only pretest and postestt control group design. Population in this research was all students of class XI IPA one of Senior High School in Bandarlampung. The sample of the research are XI IPA2 as experiment class and XI IPA 5 as control class that obtained by purposive sampling tehnique. Data analysis technique used was parametric statistic test, that using t-test. The results of this study it can be seen from Posttest value in experiment class is greater than the posttest value in control class, as well as the n-gain on the medium categorized in the experiment class and on low categorized in control class.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan efektivitas pembelajaran berbasis masalah pencemaran limbah cairan pemutih dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi pada siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain The Matching Only Pretest and Postestt Control Group Design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI IPA salah satu SMA di Bandarlampung. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari kelas XI IPA 2 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan XI IPA 5 sebagai kelas kontrol yang diperoleh dari teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan purposive sampling. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah uji statistik parametrik, menggunakan uji-t.. Hasil penelitian dapat dilihat dari nilai postes keterampilan berrpikir tingkat tinggi kelas eksprimen lebih tinggi daripada nilai postes kelas kontrol. Rata-rata n-gain kelas keksprimen berkategori sedang dan rata-rata n-gain kelas kontrol berkategori rendah.Kata kunci: pencemaran limbah pemutih, keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi, pembelajaran berbasis masalah

This research aimed to describe the ability of giving reason and interpreting a statement on the electrolyte and nonelectrolyte solutions matery through the application of problem based learning models for student groups of high, intermediate and low. The subjects in this research was students class of X1 Senior High School 1 Sidomulyo Academic Year 2012/2013. This research used the pre-experimental method with a one-shot case study desaign. Based on the result of data analysis summarized that ability of giving reason in high level group all its were excellent. In intermediate level group the others were good. In the low level group, half were good and the others were good enough. The ability of interpreting a statement in high level group all its excellent. In intermediate level group, almost half were excellent. In the low level group, the others were good enough.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan memberikan alasan dan menginterpretasi suatu pernyataan pada materi larutan elektrolit dan nonelektrolit melalui penerapan model problem based learning untuk siswa kelompok tinggi, sedang dan rendah. Subyek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X1 SMAN 1 Sidomulyo Tahun Ajaran 2012/2013. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode pre-eksperimen dengan desain one-shot case study. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data disimpulkan kemampuan memberikan alasan pada kelompok tinggi seluruhnya berkriteria sangat baik. Kelompok sedang sebagian besar berkriteria baik. Kelompok rendah, separuhnya berkriteria baik dan cukup. Kemampuan menginterpretasi suatu pernyataan pada kelompok tinggi seluruhnya berkriteria sangat baik. Kelompok sedang, hampir separuh berkriteria sangat baik, sebagian besar berkriteria baik. Kelompok rendah sebagian besar berkriteria cukup.Kata kunci: problem based learning, kelompok kognitif, memberikan alasan, menginterpretasi suatu pernyataan.

Abstract:The objective of this research is to describe effectiveness of Numbered Head Together (NHT) technique of cooperative learning model in improving electrolyte and non electrolyte solutions and redox reaction concept masteries. This research used quasi expewriment method with Non Equivalent Control Group Design. Population in this research was all Grade X students in YP UNILA senior High School in Bandar Lampung from classroom X1 to X11 in event semester of academic year 2011/2012. Samples were classroom X3 and X4 as experiment classrooms using NHT learning model. Samples were selected using purposive sampling. Clasroom X4was selected as control by using conventional learning.The results showed that N-gain average values of concept masteries in experiment and control classrooms were 0.599 and -0.477 respectively. The hypothesis test results showed that the classrooms with NHT technique of cooperative learning model had higher levels of activities and concept masteries compared to classroom with conventional learning. The conclusion of this research was that the NHT technique of cooperative learning model was effective in improving electrolyte and non electrolyte solutions and redox reaction concept masteries. The observation results showed that the average marks for colloid system material of students in classroom XI IPA 1 in State Senior High School 3 in Bandar Lampung in academic year 2009-20010 was 62.56. The determined minimum accomplishment criteria (or KKM) for chemistry subject in all classrooms XI IPA was 68. Students’ motivations in learning chemistry were low. This could be seen from irrelevant students’ activities to learning such as doing other tasks, sleeping and chatting. One of efforts to improve students’ learning motivations and concept masteries in colloid system material is by implementing guided discovery learning. The objective of this research is to improve percent of students’ learning motivation and concept mastery averages with guided discovery learning. This was a classroom action research and conducted in two cycles. Research data were data of students’ learning motivation obtained from observation sheets and data of concept mastery obtained from formative tests. The results showed that there were improvements of averages of students’ learning motivations (46.92%) and concept masteries (13.87%) from cycle I to cycle II.
