Abstract

The learning process is strongly influenced by the ability and accuracy of teachers in selecting and applying the learning model. The model can be applied to improve of  simple explanation and inferencetion skill is a model of problem solving. The purpose of this study was to describe the model of problem solving that are effective in improving simple explanation and inferencetion skills on the material electrolyte and non-electrolyte solution. This research use a quasi-experimental methods with Non Equivalent (Pretest and Posttest) Control Group Design. The sampling technique used purposive sampling technique. The samples in this study were high school students Bandar Lampung Fransiskus X4 and X5 class even semester 2012-2013 School Year. Effectiveness of the learning model of problem solving is measured based on a significant increase in gain and t-test. The results showed the average value of n-Gain a simple explanation skills for the control and experimental classes 0.47 and 0.75, while the average n-Gain inferencetion skills to control and experimental classes 0.54 and 0.66. This suggests that learning is effective in improving of simple explanation and inferencetion skills with problem solving.Keywords: Problem Solving, a simple explanation skills, inference skills

Abstract

The objective of this research is to describe effectiveness of the learning model of problem solving in improving communication and inference skills in buffer and hydrolysis lesson. Samples in this research were students of State Senior High School 1 Tumijajar of classes XI Sciences 2 and XI Sciences 3 even semester School Year 2011-2012 that have equal academic abilities. This research used a quasi experiment method with Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Effectiveness of the learning model of problem solving was measured by significant differences in control class and experiment class, shown by significant gain. Based on the results of this research, average value of N-gain for communication skills in control and experiment class were 0,53 and 0,65; and average value of N-gain for inference skills in control and experiment class were 58 and 0,66. Hypothesis testing in this research used test two average different with t-test.  Hypothesis result test show that class that used learning model of problem solving had higher communication and inference skills than class with conventional learning model. This indicated that learning model of problem solving was effective to improving communication and inference skills in buffer and hydrolysis lesson.  Keywords: learning model of problem solving, communication skills and inference skills

Abstract

The objective of this research is to describe the learning model of SSCS that effective to improve the students’ ability in giving reason, giving hypotesis and making definition.   This research used quasi experiment method with Nonequivalent Control Group Design .  The Samples of this research were the second year students of MAN 1 Bandar Lampung in the even of academic year 2011-2012.  The research used two classes, XI IPA2 and X IPA3which had the same characteristic.   The effectiveness of SSCS the learning model was measured by differences of significant n-gain.  The results of this research showed that the mean value of n-gain for students’ ability in giving reason in control and experiment class were -0,04 and 0,45;  the mean value of n-gain for students’  ability in giving hypotesis in control and experiment class were -0,03 and 0,32;  and the mean value of  n-gain for students’ ability in making definition in control experiment class were -0,26 and 0,40.  Based on hypotesis test, it can be seen that the SSCS learning model is effective to improve the student’ ability in giving reason, giving hypotesis and making definition.Keywords: SSCS learning model, students’ ability in giving reason, giving hypotesis and making definition.

Abstract

This research was conducted to describe the effectiveness of the learning model of problem solving in improving classification and prediction skills. This research used a quasi experimental method with One Group Pretest-Posttest Design.  Subjects in this research were students of SMAN 1 Bandar Sribhawono Even semester of classes XI IPA1 and classes XI IPA2 School Year 2011-2012.  The effectiveness of the learning model of problem solving was measured by differences in understanding of the beginning and end of the students understanding shown by the mean N-gain between control and experimental classes.  Statistic analysis is used of this research is average two differences test with uji-t.  Based on the results of this research, average value of N-gain for classification skills of control and experimental classes is 0.53 and 0.70; and the average value of N-gain for prediction skills of control and experimental classes is 0.53 and0.63. Based on the results of this hypothesis test, known that classes with problem solving learning had classification and prediction skills more higher than classes with convensional learning.  This shows that a model of problem solving is effective in improving the classification and prediction skills students of SMAN 1 Bandar Sribhawono.Keywords: Problem Solving, classification skill and prediction skill

Abstract

The aim of this research is to describe the effectiveness of problem solving learning model in solubility and solubility product concept to enhance skill in answering questions.  Students who became the subject of this research was  XI grade of Science 1 Batanghari Senior High School in Batanghari Academic Year 2011/2012. This research used the pre-experimental method and one group pretest-posttest design.  The effectiveness of problem solving learning model was determined based on the average value of n-Gain.  The results of this research showed that the average value of n-Gain of skills in answering questions about definition and why were 0,7 and 0,33.  Thus, it can be concluded that the problem solving learning model in solubility and solubility product concept effective to enhance answering question about definition was in high category and answering whyquestion was in medium category.Keywords: problem solving learning, answering questions skills.

Abstract

This study was aimed to describe the effectiveness of problem-based learning of detergent waste-pollution improving students’ higher order thinking skills. The method used was quasi experimental by using the matching only pretest and postest control group design. The population of this research was all of students in grade XI MIA one of Senior High School in Bandarlampung and it was obtained class XI MIA1 as experiment class and XI MIA2 as control class. The data analysis technique used was parametric statistic test using t-test. The results showed that posttest score of student’s higher order thinking skills in experiment class was higher than control class and mean of n-gain’s category in experiment class was in medium category, which mean that problem-based learning of detergent waste-pollution was effective to improve students' higher order thinking skills.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan efektivitas pembelajaran berbasis masalah pencemaran oleh limbah detergen dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah quasi eksperimen dengan desain the matching only pretest and postest control group design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI MIA salah satu SMA di Bandarlampung dan diperoleh kelas XI MIA1 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan XI MIA2 sebagai kelas kontrol. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah uji statistik parametrik menggunakan uji-t. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai postes keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa di kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi daripada kelas kontrol dan rata-rata n-gain yang berkategori sedang di kelas eksperimen, yang berarti pembelajaran berbasis masalah pencemaran limbah detergen efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa.Kata kunci: pembelajaran berbasis masalah, pencemaran oleh limbah detergen, keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa

Abstract

This research aims to produce chemical equilibrium module based multiple representations. The research method used is the Research and Development. Subject of this study were 1 chemistry teachers and 20 students of the 2nd grade in 1st state high school Bandar Lampung. The trial results showed that the content of the module is limited in accordance with the curriculum. The presentation of the material in the module has excellent views of the sequence of the material presented, how the presentation of the material, symbolic representation, submicroscopic and macroscopic pre-sented and the questions that have been in accordance with the material and learning objectives. Physically, the modul is a good representation of multiple views of the font size, the separation between paragraphs, layout, use font variations (bold, italic, capital) and color selection. The test results readability aspect above 75% (Strong), or can be said to be good. Keywords: modules, chemical equilibrium, multiple representations

Abstract

Research And Development has the objective to develop science process skills based assessment (KPS). The method used in the research and development is a Research And Development (R D). Characteristic assessment generated by finite trials are as follows : 1) Test the opinion of interesting 76,45% of student at the high category, 2) Test the suitability of the content of the material ini the opinion of the teacher 82,78% is very high category, and 3)Test readability 83,8% according to the teacher’s category is very high category and amounted to 76,4% according to the student’s category is high category. In the process of the development of this assessment, there are obstacles that faced some problems are difficult to describe both macroscopic, submicroscopic, and symbolic that the translation of assessment is a simple matter becomes difficult.Keywords : Assessment, KPS, Acid Bases

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the effectiveness of the problem solving  learning model on the reaction rate concept in improving induces skill and consider the results of induction which includes  conclude accordance with the facts skill and conclude the results of investigate. The effectiveness of problem solving is measured on the difference n-Gain that significantly between experiment class and control classes.This Research using  a quasi experiment method with a nonequivalent control group design. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. The population in this research is all of the  students class XI IPA of SMAN 7 Bandar Lampungin odd semester in the year of 2012-2013. The results showed that the problem solving model learning is effective increases conclude according the facts skill and conclude from the results investigate in the reaction rate concept.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan efektivitas model pembelajaran problem solving pada materi laju reaksi dalam meningkatkan keterampilan menginduksi dan mempertimbangkan hasil induksi yang meliputi keterampilan menarik kesimpulan sesuai fakta dan menarik kesimpulan dari hasil menyelidiki.  Efektivitas model pembelajaran problem solving diukur dengan per-bedaan n-Gain yang signifikan antara kelas eksperimen dengan kelas kontrol. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimen dengan  nonequivalent control group design. Teknik pemilihan sampel yang digunakan yaitu teknik purposive sampling. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI IPA SMAN 7 Bandar Lampung semester ganjil tahun ajaran 2012-2013. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model problem solvingefektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan menginduksi dan mempertimbangkan hasil induksi yang meliputi keterampilan menarik kesimpulan sesuai fakta dan menarik kesimpulan dari hasil menyelidiki pada materi laju reaksi.Kata kunci : keterampilan menginduksi, laju reaksi, model pembelajaran problem  solving

Abstract

The objective of this research is to describe effectiveness of effectiveness predict-observe-explain(POE) learning model in oxidation-reduction reaction material in improving skill in predict and classifying. The effectiveness of the POE learning model in this research is indicated by the significant difference between experiment classroom and control classroom.Population in this research was all 105 grade X students in Paramarta 1 Seputih Senior High School in academic year 2011-2012 which were distributed in classroom X1, X2, and X3. Samples in this research were classroom X1 as the experiment classroom using POE learning model and classroom X2 as control using conventional learning. Samples were taken using purposive sampling. The research results showed that the n-gain average value of skill in predict in control and experiment classrooms were 0.30 and 0.46 respectively, and the n-gain average value for skill in classifying for control and experiment classrooms were 0.37 and 0.64 respectively.Results of hypothesis test showed that classroom with POE learning model had higher skills in predict and classifying compared with control classroom. This indicated that POE learning model was more effective to improve skills in predict and classifying.  Keywords: predict-observe-explain (POE), skills in predict and classifying
