Abstract

The aim of this research is to describe effectiveness of problem solving learning model in solubility and solubility product concept to enhance expressing causal claim and negation skills. Students who became the subject of this research was  XI grade of Science 1 Batanghari Senior High School in Batanghari academic year 2011/2012. This research used the pre-experimental method and one group pretest-posttest design.  The effectiveness of problem solving learning model was determined based on the average value of n-Gain.  The results of this research showed that the average value of n-Gain of expressing causal claim and negation skills were 0,398 and 0,704. Thus, it can be concluded that the problem solvinglearning model in solubility and solubility product concept effective to enhance  expressing causal claim in medium category and effective to enhance  expressing negation skill in high category.Keywords: problem solving, expressing causal claim skill and expressing    negation skill.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the effectiveness problem-based learning of pollution by detergent waste (PBMPLD) to improve students’ creative thinking skills.  The population of this research was all students from XI MIA one of Senior High School in Bandarlampung, the sample research were XI MIA 1 and XI MIA 2 class that obtained by purposive sampling technique.  The research used quasi-experiment with the maching only desaign in pretest-postest and control group.  The data analysis technique used was parametric statistic test using t-test to postestt value.  The result showed that the average posttest of creative thinking skill of experiment class is significantly higher than the average of control class posttest.  The average n-gain in the experimental class is moderate category.  Therefore, it is concluded that the PBMPLD  is effective in enhancing the creative thinking skills.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan efektivitas pembelajaran berbasis masalah pencemaran oleh limbah detergen (PBMPLD) dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kreatif.  Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI MIA salah satu SMA di Bandarlampung, dengan sampel penelitian kelas XI MIA 1 dan XI MIA 2 yang diperoleh melalui teknik purposive sampling.  Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah quasi eksperimen dengan desain the matching only pretest-posttest control group.  Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah uji statistik parametrik menggunakan uji t terhadap nilai postes.  Hasil penelitian diperoleh rata-rata postes keterampilan berpikir kreatif kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi secara signifikan daripada rata-rata postes kelas kontrol.  n-gain rata-rata dikelas eksperimen berkategori sedang.  Dengan demikian, disimpulkan bahwa  PBMPLD efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kreatif.Kata kunci: keterampilan berpikir kreatif, pembelajaran berbasis masalah, pencemaran oleh limbah detergen

Abstract

This research aimed to describe the  skills of students in answering questions and draw conclusions on the electrolyte and nonelectrolyte matery through the application of Problem Based Learning for students cognitive groups of high, intermediate and low level group.  The subjects were students of class X1 SMA Negeri 1 Sidomulyo Academic Year 2012/2013. This research used the pre-experimental method  with a one-shot case study design.  It was a descriptive research. The results showed that the skills of answering questions in high level group: half were excellent, and the other half good. Intermediate level group almost entirely were less.  Low level group almost half were enough, half were less.  The skills of draw conclusions in high level group entirely were very good. Intermediate level group, almost entirely were excellent, and just small part were good and enough. Low level group almost entirely were very good and just small part of the remaining were enough.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan keterampilan men­jawab pertanyaan dan menarik kesimpulan pada materi larutan elektrolit dan nonelektrolit melalui penerapan model Problem Based Learning untuk siswa kelompok kognitif tinggi,sedang dan rendah.  Subyek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X1 SMA Negeri 1 Sidomulyo Tahun Ajaran 2012/2013.  Penelitian ini menggunakan metode pre-eksperimen dengan desain penelitian one-shot case study.  Analisis data menggunakan analisis deskriptif .  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keterampilan menjawab pertanyaan pada kelompok tinggi separuhnya berkriteria sangat baik, dan baik.  Kelompok sedang, hampir seluruhnya berkriteria kurang.  Kelompok rendah hampir separuhnya berkriteria cukup, separuhnya berkriteria kurang.  Keterampilan menarik kesimpulan pada kelompok tinggi seluruhnya berkriteria sangat baik.  Kelompok sedang, hampir seluruhnya berkriteria sangat baik,dan sebagian kecil berkriteria baik dan cukup.  Kelompok rendah hampir seluruhnya berkriteria sangat baik dan sebagian kecil sisanya berkriteria cukup.Kata kunci: problem based learning, kelompok kognitif , keterampilan menjawab pertanyaan menarik kesimpulan.

Abstract

This research was aimed to describe the effectiveness in problem-based learning pollution bleach waste to improving creative thinking skills. The research design used was the matching only pretest and postest control group design. The population in this research was all of students in grade XI IPA one of Senior High School in Bandarlampung, the sample of the research are XI IPA 2 and XI IPA 5 that obtained by purposive sampling technique. The data analysis technique used was parametric statistic test using t-test to postestt value. The results of this study it can be seen from postest value. Postest value in the experiment class that is greater than the postest value in the control class as well as the n-gain on the medium categorized in the experimental class and in the low control class indicate that problem-based learning model of pollution bleach liquid wastecan improve students' creative thinking skills.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan efektivitas pembelajaran berbasis masalah pencemaran limbah pemutih dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kreatif siswa. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah the matching only pretest and postest control group design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI IPA salah satu SMA di Bandarlampung, dengan sampel penelitian yaitu siswa kelas XI IPA 2 dan XI IPA 5 yang diperoleh dengan teknik purposive sampling. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah uji statistik parametrik menggunakan uji t terhadap nilai postes. Hasil penelitian ini dapat dilihat berdasarkan nilai postes yang ditunjukkan. Nilai postes di kelas eksperimen yang lebih besar daripada nilai postes di kelas kontrol dan juga n-gain  yang berkategori sedang di kelas eksperimen dan di kelas kontrol berkategori rendah menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran berbasis masalah pencemaran limbah pemutih dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kreatif siswa.Kata kunci: pembelajaran berbasis masalah, pencemaran limbah pemutih, keterampilan berpikir kreatif

Abstract

The objective of this research is to describe the learning model of SSCS that effective to improve the students’ ability in answering question, consider the definition and define the problem.  This research used quasi experiment method with Nonequivalent Control Group Design .  The Samples of this research were the second year students of MAN 1 Bandar Lampung in the even of academic year 2011-2012.  The research used two classes, XI IPA2 and X IPA3 which had the same characteristic.   The effectiveness of SSCS the learning model was measured by differences of significant n-gain.  The results of this research showed that the mean value of n-gain for students’ ability in answering question in control and experiment class were 0,19 and 0,54; the mean value of n-gain for students’  ability in consider the definition in control and experiment class were 0,30 and 0,32; and the mean value of  n-gain for students’ ability in define the problem in control and experiment class were -0,17 and 0,15.  Based on hypotesis test, it can be seen that the SSCS learning model is effective to improve the student’ ability in answering question and define the problem and ineffective to improve consider the definition.  Ineffective SSCS learning model in improving consider the definition skills because the teacher isn’t giving practice maximally these skills in the learning process. Abstract

The aimed of research was to describe the increase of students’ skill in identify variables and describe the correlational between  variables on Learning Cycle 3E (LC 3E) model. Quasi-Experimental method was used in this research, with Non Equivalent (Pretest-Postest) Control Group Design. The population of this research was students of XI IPA SMA N 1 Way Jepara, Lampung Timur, with XI scince 2 and XI scince 3 class as sample. The increase of students’ skill in identify variables and describe the correlational between  variables measured with the difference of a significant normalized gain (n-Gain). The results show that mean value of n-Gain identify variables skill in control and experimental classes were 0.19 and 0.34, and the mean value of n-Gain describe the correlational between variables skill in control and experimental classes were 0.07 and 0,32. Based on data analysis which used t-test and n-Gain, it was concluded that the LC 3E learning model can increasing students’ skill in identify variables and describe the correlational between  variables. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan peningkatan keterampilan mengidentifikasi variabel dan mendes­kripsikan hubungan antar variabel melalui learning cycle 3 phase (LC 3E). Penelitian ini merupakan kuasi eksperimen dengan Non Equivalent (Pretest-Postest) Control Group Design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI IPA SMA Negeri 1 Way Jepara, Lampung Timur, dengan kelas XI IPA 2 dan XI IPA 3 sebagai sampel. Peningkatan keterampilan mengidentifikasi dan mendeskripsikan hubungan antar variabel diukur dengan perbedaan gain yang ternormalisai (n-Gain) yang signifikan. Hasil penelitian menunjuk­kan rerata n-Gain  keterampilan mengidentifikasi variabel kelas kontrol dan eksperi­men masing-masing 0,19 dan 0,34; dan rerata n-Gain keterampilan mendes­kripsi­kan hubungan antar variabel untuk kelas kontrol dan eksperimen masing-masing 0,07 dan 0,32.  Berdasarkan pengujian hipotesis menggunakan uji-t dan n-Gain, disimpulkan bahwa model learning cycle 3E dapat mening­katkan keteram­pilan mengidentifikasi variabel dan mendeskripsikan hubungan antar variabel siswa.Kata kunci: keterampilan mendeskripsikan hubungan antar variabel, keterampilan mengidentifikasi variabel, Learning Cycle 3E.

Abstract

 Chemistry’s phenomena can explained by multiple representation, they are macroscopis, symbolis, and submicroscopis dimention. Based on the fact, submicroscopis dimention is often diserted, especially when teach acid-base material because it is difficult to learn.  According to this case, teachers need the media for delivering material of chemistry. The research aim is resulting animation media of Arrhenius acid-base material based on multiple representation.This research used research and development (R D) method by Gall, Gall and Borg in Putra (2012). But on this research, step only arrive to step of main product revision. Research and development on this research have three steps. They are needs analysis step, consist of literature study and field study, planning and developing product step, consist of planning product, developing product,validation, and revision product, and the last is field test step, whose test of the product then revision the product based on result of test.Result of this research was animation media of Arrhenius acid-base material based on multiple representation which have characteristics: 1) displaying science material of Arrhenius acid-base which be explained by multiple representation, 2) it has parts consist of opening, instructional, competence standard, basic competence, indicators of product cognitive, subject of acid-base solution, subject of indicators acid-base, subject of Arrhenius acid-base, subject of pH, and profile button, 3) the contents suitability aspect has high score that is 80% according to validator judgement and 80% according to teacher judgement, and also have the highest level in isteresting aspect that is 83.45% according students judgement.Key words :  animation media, multiple representation, Arrhenius acid-base

Abstract

The aim of this research is to describe the effectiveness of the learning model of guided inquiry to improve prediction and to formulate hypotheses skills in acid-base concept. This research uses a pre-experimental method with One Group Pretest Posttest Design.  Subjects in this study were students of class XI IPA1 SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Bandar which amounts to 29 students. The data of this study is the prediction and to formulate hypotheses skills. The results showed the average value of n-Gain of prediction skills and formulate hypotheses 0,49 and 0.56 (medium category).  Based on the results of the data analysis, showed that the guided inquiry learning model is effective in improving the prediction skills and to formulate hypotheses of class XI IPA1 SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Bandar LampungPenelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan efektivitas model pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing dalam meningkatkan keterampilan prediksi dan merumuskan hipotesis pada materi asam-basa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode pre-eksperimen dengan One Group Pretest Postest Design. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI IPA1 SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Bandarlampung yang berjumlah 29 siswa. Data penelitian ini adalah keterampilan prediksi dan merumuskan hipotesis.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rerata nilai n-Gain keterampilan prediksi dan keterampilan merumuskan hipotesis yaitu 0,49 dan 0,56 (kategori sedang).  Berdasarkan hasil analisis data tersebut, menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran dengan model inkuiri terbimbing efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan prediksi dan merumuskan hipotesis siswa kelas XI IPA1 SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Bandar LampungKata kunci:  keterampilan prediksi, merumuskan hipotesis, pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing.

Abstract

This research was aimed to describe the effectiveness of Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) to improve high order thinking skills (HOTS) in hydrolyzing salt. The method of this research was quasi-experimental with pretest-posttest control group design. The sample was taken using a purposive sampling technique and obtained XI MIA 1 as the experiment class and XI MIA 4 as a control class. The data analysis used the two average difference test, namely the t-test. The result of the research showed that the average n-gain of high order thinking skills applied by the POGIL learning model was higher than the average n-gain of high order thinking skills with a conventional model. There was a significant n-gain difference between the experiment class and the control class. Thus, it was concluded that the POGIL learning model was effective for increasing high order thinking skills in hydrolyzing salt. Keywords: high order thinking skill, hydrolyzing salt, POGIL. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan efektivitas model pembelajaran Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi pada materi garam menghidrolisis. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan pretest-postest control group design. Sampel penelitian diambil menggunakan teknik purposive sampling dan diperoleh kelas XI MIA 1 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas XI MIA 4 sebagai kelas kontrol. Analisis data penelitian menggunakan uji perbedaan dua rata-rata yaitu uji t. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata n-gain keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi yang diterapkan model pembelajaran POGIL lebih tinggi dari pada rata-rata n-gain keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi dengan model  pembelajaran konvensional. Terdapat perbedaan n-gain HOTS yang signifikan antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Abstract

This research was aimed to describe The Effect of Socioscientific Issue to Improve Chemical Literacy Ability on Electrolyte and Nonelectrolyte Solutions Topic. This research used quasi experiment with Pretest Posttest Control Group Design. The population of this research were all students of X MIA. The sample was obtained by cluster random sampling technique and it was obtained sample was students of X MIA1 as experiment class and X MIA3 as control class. The effect of socioscientific issue was determined by the accomplishment of socioscientific learning, including the enhancement of chemical literacy ability and was analyzed by difference of two average test and effect size test. The result showed that using socioscientific issue on learning had “large” effect to improve chemical literacy ability with effect size about 0.836.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pengaruh isu sosiosaintifik untuk meningkatkan literasi kimia siswa pada materi larutan elektrolit dan non elektrolit.  Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimen dengan pretest-posttest control group design.  Populasi yang digunakan yaitu seluruh kelas X MIA. Pengambilan sampel pada penelitian ini dilakukan dengan cara cluster random sampling dan diperoleh kelas X MIA1 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan X MIA3 sebagai kelas kontrol. Pengaruh isu sosiosaintifik ditentukan berdasarkan keterlaksanaan pembelajaran menggunakan isu sosisosaintifik serta peningkatan kemampuan literasi kimia siswa dan dianalisis menggunakan uji perbedaan dua rata-rata pada n-gain dan uji effect size. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa isu sosiosaintifik dalam pembelajaran memiliki pengaruh “besar” dalam meningkatkan kemampuan literasi kimia siswa dengan effect size sebesar 0.836.Kata kunci: elektrolit dan nonelektrolit, literasi kimia, pembelajaran isu sosiosaintifik.
