Abstract

This research aims to obtain optimal image quality by ensuring that the CT Number measurement results do not exceed the limits set using Phantom ACR in the Radiology Installation of Andalas University Hospital with a Philips brand CT-Scan 64 Slice machine, because CT-Scan image quality testing is an important step to ensure optimal performance of radiology diagnostic tools and guarantee the accuracy of examination results. This research uses an experimental method with an evaluation consisting of four modules: Module 1 (CT Number accuracy) shows that the values for Polyethylene, Air, Acrylic and Water materials are within the tolerance limits of BAPETEN No. 2 of 2022 is ±5 HU, while the bone material does not meet the criteria, which indicates the need for additional calibration for high density materials. Module 2 (low contrast resolution), CNR (Contrast to Noise Ratio) value of 2.91 shows clear contrast between structures with low noise, meets BAPETEN standard No. 2 of 2022. Module 3 (CT Number uniformity), uniformity testing produces standard deviation values below the limit ≤ 2 HU, indicating good uniformity in the center and edges of the image, making it reliable for clinical applications. Module 4 (spatial resolution with high contrast), the CT-Scan system shows a resolution of 6 lp/cm, in accordance with the minimum limit set by BAPETEN No. 2 of 2022. Overall, this research shows that the CT-Scan system can produce images that meet BAPETEN standards No. 2 of 2022 for good image quality and can be applied in clinical practice, but for bone material it does not meet the criteria with an average value of 838.1 ± 17.4 HU.

Abstract

Nagari Sunua Barat memiliki potensi limbah sabut kelapa hasil perkebunan kelapa yang melimpah. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memberdayakan kelompok tani di Nagari Sunua Barat melalui pelatihan pengolahan limbah sabut kelapa menjadi cocopeat dan cocofiber, yang lebih memiliki nilai ekonomis dan ramah lingkungan. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat dilakukan oleh tim dari Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam, dimulai dengan tahap perencanaan yang melibatkan mitra kelompok tani untuk mengidentifikasi kebutuhan dan potensi yang ada pada mitra. Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh 47 peserta yang berasal dari kelompok tani dan masyarakat yang ada di Nagari Sunua Barat. Peserta diajarkan tentang pengelolaan sampah limbah sabut kelapa, yang dimanfaatkan menjadi cocopeat dan cocofiber. Metode yang digunakan meliputi demonstrasi, praktik langsung, dan diskusi interaktif. Hasil dari kegiatan menunjukkan antusiasme yang tinggi dari peserta. Sebagian besar mampu memahami dan mempraktikkan teknik yang diajarkan, dengan beberapa peserta mulai memproduksi cocopeat dan cocofiber untuk keperluan pribadi maupun komersial. Pelatihan ini berhasil meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat akan pentingnya pengelolaan limbah yang berkelanjutan serta memberikan peluang ekonomi baru bagi kelompok tani. Kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat menjadi langkah awal untuk menjadikan Nagari Sunua Barat sebagai sentra pengolahan limbah sabut kelapa, sekaligus mendorong terciptanya masyarakat yang lebih peduli lingkungan dan mandiri secara ekonomi

Abstract

A dosimetric analysis of a 6 MV photon energy radiation beam on flatness and symmetry in LINAC radiotherapy at UNAND Hospital has been conducted. The aim was to measure the quality of the photon beam using an ion chamber cc 13 detector by observing the beam profile and analyzing the effect of field size and irradiation depth. This study used a blue phantom as the object of irradiation with 6 MV photon energy and variations in irradiation field size.  The results showed that the PDD curve at 6 MV energy was by the international standard recommended by BJR-25. Then, the average values of flatness and symmetry in the field area of 10×10 cm2 and 15×15 cm2 are 1.6% and 2.4% for flatness and 2.3% and 1.9% for symmetry. Thus, the dose distribution is more uniform, and both the left and right sides of the profile on the center axis appear balanced, which will help deliver the dose to the patient better. Thus, these values are suitable for clinical use. This study found that the beam profile was larger on the left side of the main axis. This must be considered to ensure the dose distribution complies with the established safety standards. The results also show that variations in the field area and irradiation depth can affect the beam profile, and the resulting flatness and symmetry values are in accordance with the IAEA TRUS-381 and AAPM TG-142 recommendation standards, which are ±2% flatness and ±3% symmetry.

Abstract

Research has been conducted on determination of specific activity of natural radionuclides of hot water source in Solok Regency, West Sumatera. The study aims to determine the specific activity of radionuclides 238U, 232Th, and 40K and initial water parameters from hot water to effort in radiation safety and protection for environment and surrounding communities. Water samples were taken from three places, namely Bukik Gadang, Batu Bajanjang and Bukik Kili. Then the water samples were analyzed for specific activity using HPGe gamma spectrometer which was chopped 72 hours for radionuclides 238U, 232Th and 40K. The results of measuring acidity (pH), temperature and conductivity of water as initial parameters measured in each sample ranged from 6,1-6,5 for pH; 41-52 °C and 156,4-164,7 μS/m. The results of specific activity measurements on the highest samples were found in the 40K radionuclide ranging from (0.20 ± 0.01) Bq/L to (0.58 ± 0.02) Bq/L and the lowest was in 238U at MDC. Some sample measurement results did not detect all radionuclides because the results obtained were below the MDC. The specific activity of 238U, 232Th and 40K samples were below the threshold of PERKA BAPETEN No. 9 of 2009 which indicates that the research location is safe from radiation impacts.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the potential of triterpenoid compounds from tamanu (Canophyllum inophyllum) as SARS-CoV-2 inhibitors through an in-silico approach using molecular docking. Ten triterpenoid compounds were selected and their binding affinity to the main protease (Mpro) of SARS-CoV-2 (PDB ID: 6W63) was tested. The results showed that four triterpenoid compounds, including oleanolic acid (-8.2 kcal/mol), friedelin (-8.2 kcal/mol), inophynone (-8.1 kcal/mol), and epifriedelanol (-8.2 kcal/mol) had lower binding affinity compared to the natural ligand (X77 -8.0 kcal/mol) and its reference ligand (paxlovid -7.7 kcal/mol), indicating a stronger interaction with the active site of the protein. Among the four candidates, only oleanolic acid forms hydrogen bonds with amino acid residues in the active site of the protein, which strengthens its potential role as a SARS-CoV-2 inhibitor. This finding suggests that these compounds, especially oleanolic acid, have the potential to be further developed as natural product-based Covid-19 therapies. This study provides an initial contribution to the exploration of natural products as a source of active compounds for the development of Covid-19 therapies through an in-silico approach.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the Planning Target Volume (PTV) margin by redefining the equations for systematic and random errors in a cervical cancer case. The research utilized first-fraction radiotherapy position verification data from 37 cervical cancer patients. These data comprised planned and actual positions, with the difference interpreted as the position shift. The systematic and random error equations proposed by the Royal College of Radiologists (2008) were redefined by adapting them to verification data, which were grouped into several PTV types and treated as daily fractions. The PTV margin was then calculated using formulas by Van Herk (2004), Stroom (2002), and ICRU Report 62. The results showed that the largest systematic and random errors occurred in the vertical and longitudinal directions, measuring 0.83 cm and 1.71 cm, respectively. The PTV margin calculated using the Van Herk method was comparatively larger than those obtained using the other two methods. The percentages of position shifts that exceeded the calculated PTV margins in the vertical, longitudinal, and lateral directions were 16%, 43%, and 35%, respectively. These findings indicate that the redefined equations are capable of compensating for the lack of position shift data across all radiotherapy fractions. The redefined approach can provide a more accurate estimation of PTV margins in cervical cancer treatment using single-fraction verification data.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat dilakukan oleh Tim Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat dari Departemen Fisika Universitas Andalas di SMA N 2 Gunung Talang, Kabupaten Solok, Sumatera Barat. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan minat siswa terhadap Pelajaran fisika yang sering dianggap rumit. Kegiatan ini terdiri dari penyempaian materi dan demonstrasi Praktikum Fisika kepada siswa-siswi kelas X. Siswa-siswi diajak untuk menggali ilmu fisika dalam kehidupan sehari-hari dan terlibat langsung dalam demonstrasi percobaan yang dilakukan. Mereka mendapatkan pengalaman baru yang menyenangkan dalam pembelajaran ilmu fisika yang dianggap sebagain siswa sulit. Evaluasi dilakukan diakhir kegiatan dengan hasil mengingkatnya minat siswa kelas X terhadap Pelajaran Fisika.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat dilakukan oleh tim pengabdian Departemen Fisika Universitas Andalas yang dilaksanakan di SMA N 1 Gunung Talang. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk menumbuhkan minat siswa terhadap fisika dengan menggunakan metode demonstrasi teknologi. Tidak sedikit dari siswa tingkat SMA yang menyatakan bahwa pelajaran fisika rumit dan membosankan. Oleh karena itu, dibutuhkan suatu metode yang dapat meningkatkan kualitas belajar siswa agar siswa dapat menyukai pelajaran fisika. Maka dari itu, dilakukannya kegiatan pengabdian ini yang terdiri dari penyampaian materi mengenai ilmu fisika, memberikan motivasi dan demonstrasi praktikum fisika instrumentasi kepada para siswa SMA N 1 Gunung Talang. Melalui kegiatan pengabdian ini, para siswa dapat memahami konsep dan menerapkan ilmu fisika secara langsung dengan memperagakan praktikum fisika serta dapat memberikan pengalaman baru yang menyenangkan mengenai pembelajaran ilmu fisika. Evaluasi kegiatan dilakukan setelah penyampaian materi dan demonstrasi praktikum fisika, didapatkan bahwa para siswa memahami ilmu fisika sebagai ilmu dasar untuk kemajuan teknologi dan semakin meningkat rasa minat para siswa dalam pelajaran fisika serta menganggap fisika menyenangkan.

Abstract

Telah dilakukan uji konduktivitas zeolit:PANi. Zeolit yang digunakan berjenis faujasit Na-X yang didapat dari sintesis limbah bottom ash. PANi disintesis dalam bentuk emeraldine salt ditumbuhkan pada zeolit dengan variasi massa (20%:80%, 30%:70%, 50%:50%, 70%:30%, 80%:20% dan 100%). Data XRD menunjukan telah terjadinya penumbuhan PANi pada zeolit yang terlihat dari hilangnya beberapa puncak zeolit setelah proses penumbuhan. Uji konduktivitas menunjukan bahwa rentang nilai konduktivitas zeolit:PANi dengan variasi massa berkisar antara 0,998 x10-4 S/cm hingga 102,794x10-4S/cm dengan nilai maksimum pada variasi massa zeolit:PANi 30% : 70%.

Abstract

ABSTRAKTelah dilakukan sintesis zeolit dari limbah abu dasar batubara dengan metode refluks menggunakan NaOH sebagai aktivator. Variasi waktu refluks yang dilakukan adalah 12, 24 dan 36 jam dengan konsentrasi molar NaOH 3M dan 5M. Pengujian yang dilakukan meliputi penentuan struktur kristal menggunakan X-ray Difraction (XRD), morfologi permukaan menggunakan Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) dan penentuan konduktivitas dengan LCR Meter. Hasil XRD memperlihatkan  bahwa zeolit yang dihasilkan merupakan tipe Na-X, Na-P dan Hikroksisodalit. Penambahan waktu refluks menjadikan zeolit lebih seragam yang dilihat dari puncak-puncak pada kerakterisasi XRD dan morfologi permukaan dari hasil SEM. Pada waktu refluks 36 jam, sampel dengan konsentrasi 5M  menunjukkan ukuran partikel 0,049 µm. Hasil LCR Meter menunjukkan nilai konduktivitas sampel 0,765 x 10-6 S/cm hingga 2,499 x 10-6 S/cm, dimana konduktivtas ini menunjukkan bahwa zeolit merupakan bahan semikonduktor.Kata kunci : abu dasar, zeolit, metode refluks, variasi molar, konduktivitas.AbstractThe synthesis of zeolites from coal bottom ash waste with NaOH as activator, by using reflux method has been performed. Reflux time was varied from 12, 24 and 36 hours with the NaOH molar concentration of 3 and 5M. The charateristics of sample are observed from crystal structure through XRD, surface morphology through SEM and conductivity through LCR Meter observations. The results of XRD showed that the type of zeolite is Na-X, Na-P, and Hidroksisodalite. The increase of reflux time produces zeolits which are more uniform that can be observed from XRD and SEM result. The result of SEM showed that the sample with reflux time of 36 hours and concentration of 5M has more regular surface morphology and smaller particle size (0,049 µm). Conductivity obtained from the LCR Meter showed that its value varied from 0.765 x10-6 S / cm to 2.499 x 10-6 S /cm, indicating that zeolite is a semiconductor material.Keyword: coal bottom ash, zeolit, reflux time, conductivity.
