Abstract

This research aimed to find the best rainfall probability model and planned rain intensity using the Mononobe formula for 11 rain stations in Serang Regency. Annual rainfall data is processed and evaluated as secondary data using the rain data consistency test method, the Gumbel probability distribution, the Normal probability distribution, the Log Normal probability distribution, and the Pearson Type III Log probability distribution. The consistency test results reveal that the rainfall data is consistent. The Gumbel probability distribution is used to examine the design rain intensity based on the analysis. This study is intended to guide estimating the design rainfall intensity to develop the design flood discharge and run-off calculations. Suggestions for future research include improving the accuracy of rain data processing and making longer-term data available to provide a more accurate frequency analysis

Abstract

The use of composite materials in brake pads is becoming increasingly popular due to their high-performance characteristics, including good thermal stability, high wear resistance, and low noise generation. However, the development of new composite materials that offer even better performance is still an ongoing research area. In this study, the composite was made by hand layup method using epoxy resin as matrix material, with rice husk, Al2O3, and Fe2O3 as reinforcing materials. The composition of the composites was varied by changing the percentage of the reinforcement materials. The composites were then subjected to several characterization tests, including density, hardness, flexural strength, thermal analysis, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), TGA/DSC, and wear testing. The test results showed that additional reinforcement materials to the epoxy resin matrix improved the mechanical properties of the composites. Overall, the study demonstrates that a hand layup method is a viable approach for preparing brake pad composite materials and that the addition of rice husk, Al2O3, and Fe2O3 can improve the mechanical properties of the composites. The best properties produced in this research were found in one of the specimens which used epoxy, rice husk, Al2O3, and Fe2O3 with a composition of 50 wt.%, 20 wt.%, 15 wt.%, and 15 wt.%. However, the addition of rice husk also provides wear resistance and thermal stability. This study contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by advancing innovation, promoting sustainability, and reducing emissions in automotive industry applications.

Abstract

Industri furnitur di Indonesia, khususnya di Jepara, telah menjadi pilar penting dalam ekonomi nasional dengan kontribusi signifikan terhadap ekspor. Meski terkenal dengan seni ukir tradisionalnya, industri furnitur Jepara menghadapi tantangan adaptasi desain untuk memenuhi kebutuhan pasar global yang dinamis. Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi potensi manajemen desain sebagai strategi untuk meningkatkan daya saing dan inovasi produk di tengah perubahan tren pasar dan tantangan global. Dengan pendekatan kualitatif dan studi kasus, penelitian ini mengidentifikasi bahwa desain dan manajemen strategis dapat diintegrasikan untuk menciptakan nilai tambah dan keunggulan kompetitif. Melalui analisis terhadap literatur terkait dan observasi industri, tujuan dari penelitian ini mengembangkan model manajemen desain yang dapat diterapkan pada industri furnitur di Jepara. Model ini melibatkan kolaborasi keilmuan manajemen dan desain serta industri furnitur di Jepara untuk menghasilkan produk yang tidak hanya inovatif dan berdaya saing serta berdaya saing, selain itu juga mempertahankan identitas budaya lokal. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pemahaman yang lebih dalam tentang manajemen desain dan pelatihan terkait dapat membantu para pemangku kepentingan di Jepara untuk mengatasi tantangan industri dan memanfaatkan peluang pasar global. Penelitian ini memberikan saran untuk peningkatan edukasi dan kerjasama antara pemerintah, industri, dan lembaga desain untuk mendukung keberlanjutan dan pertumbuhan industri furnitur di Jepara.   The furniture industry in Indonesia, in Jepara, has become an important pillar in the national economy with a significant contribution to exports. Despite being famous for its traditional engraving art, the Japanese furniture industry faces the challenge of adapting design to meet the demands of a dynamic global market. The research explores the potential of design management as a strategy to enhance product competitiveness and innovation amid changing market trends and global challenges. With a qualitative approach and case studies, this research identifies that strategic design and management can be integrated to create added value and competitive advantage. Through the analysis of related literature and industry observations, the objective of this research is to develop a design management model that can be applied to the furniture industry in Jepara. This model involves the collaboration of management and design sciences as well as furniture industries at Jepara to produce products that are not only innovative and competitive and competitiveness, but also preserve the local cultural identity. The conclusions of this study suggest that a deeper understanding of design management and related training can help stakeholders in Jepara to overcome industry challenges and take advantage of global market opportunities. The research provides suggestions for improved education and cooperation between government, industry, and design agencies to support the sustainability and growth of the furniture industry in Jepara.

Abstract

Penelitian tentang material alam sebagai pengganti material asbes dalam komposit material gesek kampas rem motor terus mengalami peningkatan. Material dalam kategori biomassa sebagai reinforcement komposit agar mendapatkan karakteristik material yang sesuai standar material gesek kampas rem motor. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh fraksi volume sekam padi, aluminium oksida, dan besi oksida terhadap sifat mekanik dari spesimen komposit material gesek kampas rem. Proses pembuatan spesimen menggunakan metode hand lay-up dengan fraksi volume material epoksi (100 wt% dan 50 wt%), sekam padi (0 wt% dan 20 wt%), aluminium oksida (25 wt% dan 15 wt%), dan besi oksida (25 wt% dan 15 wt%). Pada penelitian ini, didapatkan pengaruh fraksi volume sekam padi, aluminium oksida, dan besi oksida terhadap sifat mekanik dari spesimen komposit material gesek kampas rem motor yaitu dapat meningkatkan nilai dari masing-masing hasil pengujian. Sehingga, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan material epoksi 50 wt%, sekam padi 20 wt%, aluminium oksida 15 wt%, dan besi oksida 15 wt% membuat ikatan antar partikel spesimen komposit material gesek kampas rem motor semakin baik dikarenakan kandungan silikanya yang tinggi. Oleh karena itu, didapatkan spesimen komposit material gesek kampas rem sepeda motor dengan sifat mekanik yang baik sesuai standar SNI nomor 09-0143-1987 dan SAE J661-1997.

Abstract

Systematic literature reviews that focus on research on innovation variables as moderating and mediating exogenous variables on the performance of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are still relatively rare. Therefore, the aim of this research is to determine the factors that influence MSME performance which are mediated or moderated by innovation variables. This type of qualitative research uses the Systematic Literature Review method. Article data collection comes from the Google Scholar database. Based on the search results, 180 articles were obtained from 2015 to 2024. After selecting and adjusting them to the research objectives, 30 articles were obtained. The results of this research show that factors influencing MSME performance are mediated by innovation variables including business networks, competitor orientation, market orientation, learning orientation, marketing strategies, entrepreneurial characteristics, business capital, entrepreneurial orientation, entrepreneurial competencies, learning capital, learning capability, technology orientation , technological capability, transactional capability, innovation-oriented technology assimilation strategy, human resource information system, leadership, relational capability, knowledge management, relational capability, market orientation, administrative innovation strategy, customer orientation, market orientation, and HRM. Other findings also found that factors influencing MSME performance were moderated by innovation variables, including supply chain management practices, learning orientation, market orientation, total quality management, and social media adoption. Factors influencing innovation performance which are moderated by innovation variables include open innovation, social media strategic capability, and innovation culture. This research provides recommendations for MSME players to be able to utilize various innovation models or variables to further develop and have competitiveness. This research provides suggestions for future researchers in conducting SLR regarding MSME Innovation and Competitive Advantage by focusing on the Moderation model.

Abstract

This research literature review that reviews the literature on the factors that influence innovation variables has been a lot, but those that review innovation performance variables are relatively still not much. Therefore, the literature review in this study aims to investigate the factors that affect innovation performance in manufacturing companies, as well as factors that act as mediation and moderation. The Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method is used in this study to analyze and review or look back at findings that are systematically identified based on previous research evidence related to factors that affect the innovation performance of manufacturing companies. Research data was obtained from Google Scholar with a time span of 2015-2023. Findings on journal searches found 304 articles. Based on the search for articles that discuss and focus on factors that affect the specific innovation performance of manufacturing companies, 25 articles were found. The article is used as a data source and will be examined in more depth. The results of the research found that (1) Various factors affect innovation performance in manufacturing companies; (2) Several factors can mediate and moderate exogenous (independent) variables on the innovation performance of manufacturing companies; and (3) Various theories have been used in research on the innovation performance of manufacturing companies. Therefore, manufacturing companies can use the above variables as factors that can be used to improve innovation performance to increase productivity, effectiveness, and can drive growth for manufacturing companies. These findings can be used as reference material for further research on variables that are able to mediate and moderate the relationship between exogenous variables on innovation performance in manufacturing companies and the theory used.

Abstract

In the industrial era 4.0, the automation system technology used is growing rapidly. Automation systems in the industry are very useful, especially in reducing production time. One of the tools that can be used to simulate production in an industry is the Modular Production System (MPS). MPS itself consists of several stations to simulate the production process on a small scale. In a production system, of course, a system is needed that can detect abnormal workpiece conditions. This system will be driven by a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). This system will be placed at the distribution station. The rejection system in MPS is needed because, in MPS there is still a manual process, namely in the process of inserting workpieces into the stack magazine. with this manual process, it is likely that workpieces with abnormal conditions will be processed by MPS. This condition is unlikely to be processed further to the pick and place station. Therefore, objects with abnormal conditions must be separated by this rejection system. There are 2 methods used to conduct this research, namely using the 5/3 valve and the positive stop method. Data collection from both methods is done by experiment. From the experimental results of the two methods, it can be seen that the best method used for this system is the positive stop method. This method is the most appropriate method because it can produce a very accurate swivel arm stop position. From the data obtained, using the 5/3 valve method with a pressure of 4 bar the swivel arm stop position ranges from 22.4 cm to reach more than 25.8 cm, and at a pressure of 5 bar the swivel arm height ranges from 25.8 cm to more. By using the positive stop method the swivel arm stops exactly at the specified swivel arm height because the swivel arm is held by the pneumatic cylinder.

Abstract

Modular Production System is a station unit consisting of industrial components in the form of pneumatic and electrical components controlled by a Programmable Logic Controller which is directed for industry-oriented vocational training. In a Modular Production System, there are several types of stations, one of which is the pick and place station which consists of two modules, namely the pick and place module and the conveyor module. This design discusses the optimization of the design of the top cover feeding unit at the pick and place station because the top cover is dislocated every time there is a change in position when the vacuum sucks the top cover. This design optimization is done by redesigning the feeding unit slider. By doing this optimization, it can make the feeding unit accommodate the top cover where it should be and improve the process capability of the system. The results of this optimization are determined based on the process capability values, before optimization the resulting values were 1.0417 for Capabiity Process and 0.77 for the index. Then after design optimization, the values are 3.402 for Capabilty Process and 6.396 for the index and produce a total force of 0.205 N by using a slider feeding unit tilt angle of 14o. This tilt angle was determined as the most optimal angle because it resulted in the least system failure.

Abstract

Twin wire arc spraying (TWAS) is a thermal spray process that is widely used in various industries. Nevertheless, the impact of repeated sandblasting on the coating characteristics of FeCrBSiMn coating created using the TWAS technique has not been extensively researched. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the influence of repeated sandblasting on the properties of the FeCrBSiMn coating layer created using the TWAS process. The study used stainless steel 304, 75B, and FeCrBSiMn as the substrate, bond coat, and top coat materials. The substrate materials underwent sandblasting with a repetition of 1, 2, and 3 cycles before the coating procedure. The coating's quality in this study was assessed using surface roughness, thickness, hardness, corrosion rate, bond strength, and SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) examination. The findings of this investigation indicate that the sandblasting treatment substantially elevates the surface roughness of 304 stainless steel substrates. As the substrate surface becomes rougher, there is an increase in the percentage of porosity and unmelted material, as well as an increase in the thickness of the coating layer. Furthermore, the hardness of the resulting coating layer diminishes. Specimen A exhibited superior qualities in comparison to the other specimens. The coating layer on this specimen has a percentage of unmelted material and porosity, thickness, hardness, and adhesion of 7.122%, 0.125 mm, 1081.6 HV, and 14.5 MPa respectively. This investigation's results indicate that the substrate material's corrosion rate (x 10−6 mmpy) is 3648.6, which is lower than the corrosion rate of specimen A, which is 37.802.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the trends of research on Foreign Workers and Construction Development in the Current Era from 2012 to 2022. This research used qualitative research methodology with a bibliometric analysis approach. The primary data of this research was collected through the Scopus database with identifying articles/journals related to the topics of Foreign Workers and Construction Development. This study also uses VOS Viewer to visualize and analyze the primary data with network and density calculation. The result of this study is Russia became the first country to produce many articles from 2012 to 2022. Furthermore, the Engineering is the highest source of publication. Then, most researchers used quantitative methods with online surveys dominantly in the publications related to the topic. Topics about Construction Development, Construction Industry, and Foreigner Worker have the most frequent occurrences and the highest total link strength in the network. Besides, construction development, construction activities, construction industry, etc., have a big opportunity for conducting in the future in terms of foreign workers and construction development in the current era. This study successfully explained global research trends related to foreign workers and construction development in the current era from 2012 to 2022. However, this study has limitations in terms of data sources because the Scopus database is a closed access resource.
