Abstract

This study investigates the factors influencing Generation Z’s intention to use Insurtech in Indonesia using an extended DeLone and McLean model. The research introduces two additional variables: perceived trust and regulatory expectancy. Data were collected via an online survey of 431 Generation Z respondents aged 17 and above, residing in ten major Indonesian cities: Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Denpasar, Palembang, Medan, Balikpapan, and Makassar, all with a basic understanding of Insurtech. The questionnaire included demographic questions and research variables measured on a five-point Likert scale. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) through Smart PLS 4. Descriptive analysis revealed that most respondents were aged 25-28 years, predominantly female, residing in Jakarta, employed in private sectors, with monthly expenditures below USD 300, and holding a bachelor’s degree. The analysis indicated that respondents viewed Insurtech positively, noting its organized information, flexible services, knowledgeable providers, honest services, and legal protection of personal data. Additionally, respondents expressed a strong interest in using Insurtech soon. The measurement model evaluation confirmed the validity and reliability of all indicators based on convergent validity, discriminant validity, and reliability tests. The structural model analysis showed that the independent variables explained 57% of the variance in intention to use Insurtech and 69% in perceived trust. Hypothesis testing revealed that information quality, system quality, service quality, and regulatory expectancy positively influenced both intentions to use Insurtech and perceived trust. However, contrary to expectations, perceived trust did not significantly affect the intention to use Insurtech. This finding suggests that for Generation Z, trust may be considered a baseline expectation, with factors like system and service quality playing a more direct role in their adoption decisions. Additionally, no significant mediation effects were found. The model demonstrated strong predictive relevance and good fit, confirmed by Q², NFI, and SRMR values.

Abstract

The problem of soil retaining wall stability is an important concern in civil construction, especially in the use of concrete sheetpile as an efficient and durable structural solution. However, the design of concrete Sheetpile joints still faces challenges in ensuring structural strength, waterproofness, ease of installation, and resistance to extreme environments. This study aims to develop an optimal concrete flat Sheetpile connection model as a soil retaining wall. The research method involves experimental analysis and numerical simulation on various configurations of Sheetpile joints, including testing of mechanical strength, waterproofness, and material testing against environmental factors. The collected data will be analyzed using an experimental design approach and model validation with structural software. Predicted results show that the developed connection model will improve the stability of the ground retaining wall with better installation time efficiency, while meeting safety and sustainability standards. The continuation of the research is directed at the application of the connection model in actual construction projects to evaluate performance in the field and refine the model based on practical implementation feedback.

Abstract

The use of natural materials like rattan in eco-friendly composites is gaining attention in materials engineering. However, its hydrophilic nature and interaction with other materials can affect mechanical strength. This study investigates how variations in rattan size and alkali treatment influence the tensile properties of single rattan strips through an epoxy dipping process. Rattan was prepared with varying lengths (5–15 cm), widths (3–8 mm), and a consistent thickness (0.5 mm). Alkali treatment used 5% and 10% NaOH concentrations for 1 and 24 hours. Tensile testing showed that a 5 cm × 8 mm strip achieved the highest tensile strength (49.95 MPa), Young's modulus (3562.77 MPa), and low strain (5.4%), while the 15 cm × 3 mm strip had the lowest strength (9.48 MPa) and modulus (475.69 MPa) with higher strain (10.32%). A 5% NaOH treatment for 24 hours improved adhesion and performance, while 10% caused degradation.

Abstract

This study aims to explore in depth the experiences of nurse anesthetists in maintaining patient safety in operating rooms with high workloads. A qualitative descriptive approach with a phenomenological approach was used to explore the subjective meaning of nurse anesthetists towards their work challenges. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with ten nurse anesthetists in a general hospital with a minimum work experience criterion of two years. The results of the study identified five main themes, namely: (1) high workload characterized by high volume of operations and limited rest time, (2) the impact of workload on physical and psychological conditions and patient safety, (3) adaptation strategies such as time management, spiritual approaches, and team communication, (4) preparedness in dealing with emergency situations, and (5) the need for institutional support from hospital management. Senior nurses tend to rely more on experience, spirituality, and emotional control, while junior nurses need more supervision and advanced training. The conclusion of this study shows that high workload significantly affects the work performance and well-being of anesthesia nurses. Individual coping strategies and institutional support are key to maintaining patient safety and maintaining anesthesia nurse addiction in a high-intensity work environment. This study provides an important contribution to more humanistic hospital policies and supports frontline health workers.

Abstract

In recent decades, the development of information and communication technology has profoundly transformed the marketing landscape. Social media has emerged as a dominant platform used by marketers to reach consumers, particularly among Millennials and Generation Z, who are active users of digital technology. This study examines the impact of Machiavellian Marketing strategies on the purchasing behavior of Millennials and Generation Z through social media and e-commerce platforms. Machiavellian Marketing, characterized by manipulative and often unethical approaches, exploits the digital habits and psychological tendencies of these young consumers. Furthermore, this study highlights the influence of Dark Triad personality traits—Machiavellianism, narcissism, and psychopathy—on consumer behavior. Individuals with high levels of these traits are known to be more prone to engage in manipulative behavior on social media, which affects their purchasing decisions. The research was conducted through a literature review method from the Scopus database, aiming to provide critical insights into the ethical implications of Machiavellian-based marketing strategies as well as offering new perspectives on ethics in result-oriented marketing. These findings are expected to aid marketers in designing strategies that align with the psychological profiles of consumers while considering their ethical implications.

Abstract

Service quality in the healthcare sector is often considered more complex than in other service industries due to the higher risks involved. In this context, service quality becomes a strategic factor that can offer a competitive advantage for healthcare institutions. As such, examining service quality in both public and private hospitals is crucial to understanding potential differences in patient perceptions. This study aims to: (1) assess the quality of healthcare services provided by public and private hospitals; and (2) determine whether significant differences exist in service quality perceptions between these two types of hospitals. The research employed a cross-sectional design using data collected from selected hospitals in Semarang, representing both public and private sectors. A quantitative approach was utilized to develop the instruments, collect data, and perform the analysis. The sample consisted of 200 inpatients selected through incidental sampling, with service quality measured using the five dimensions of the SERVQUAL model: tangibility, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy. Data were analyzed using Excel 2003 and IBM SPSS Statistics 26. Findings reveal that: (1) the majority of respondents expressed agreement or strong agreement with statements reflecting the five SERVQUAL dimensions for both public and private hospitals; and (2) there was no statistically significant difference in perceived service quality between the two types of hospitals. It can be concluded that patients perceive the service quality in public and private hospitals to be equally satisfactory.

Abstract

This study explores the lived experiences of nurse anesthetists in maintaining patient safety under high workload conditions in the operating room. Using a qualitative phenomenological design, data were collected through in-depth interviews with ten nurse anesthetists working in a general hospital, each with a minimum of two years of clinical experience. Thematic analysis identified five major themes: (1) high workload characterized by intensive surgical schedules and limited recovery time; (2) the physical and psychological consequences of workload on nurse well-being and patient safety; (3) adaptive coping mechanisms including time management, spirituality, and interprofessional communication; (4) situational preparedness in responding to emergencies; and (5) the essential role of institutional support in sustaining performance and safety outcomes. Senior nurses tended to rely on professional experience, emotional regulation, and spiritual strength, whereas junior nurses required closer supervision and structured guidance. The findings reveal that excessive workload significantly compromises concentration, emotional balance, and the ability to maintain optimal care. Both individual coping strategies and strong organizational backing are vital for ensuring patient safety and sustaining nurse anesthetist resilience in high-pressure clinical environments. This study provides critical insights for developing human-centered hospital policies and fostering a supportive culture that promotes staff well-being and patient safety.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effect of increasing the concentration of natural filler on the mechanical properties of Spent Coffee Ground (SCG) / Coffee Husk (CH) reinforced epoxy matrix composite. The materials used in this study are epoxy resin as a matrix and waste coffee grounds and coffee husks as natural fillers with sizes of 100-mesh and concentrations of 10, 20, and 30 wt.%. The results showed that SCG 10 wt.% produced the best mechanical properties compared to the other samples based on tensile strength (19.58 MPa), tensile modulus (1.70 GPa), flexural strength (44.55 MPa), and flexural modulus (2.32 GPa). On the other hand, CH 30 wt.% contributed the highest hardness value of 50.33 HRB compared to other samples. The findings in this study prove that the appropriate composition will affect the compatibility between the filler and the matrix, thus impacting the mechanical properties of the composite. This phenomenon can be seen based on microscope analysis, which shows a strong interaction between the matrix and filler and the formation of voids and agglomeration
