Abstract

This research is a qualitative research aimed to describe the profile of cognitive regulation of the students of VIII C class of SMP Negeri 2 Palu in solving system of equations in two variables viewed from cognitive style. The research subjects were one student belonged to independent field and another student belonged to dependent field. The grouping for obtaining the desired subjects was done by administering GEFT test. The research results show that: (1) in the planning stage, FI was not easily influenced by his environment so that he could convey the information that he knew and was asked to him and he could also develop the steps for solving problems, (2) in the problem solving stage in order to obtain results, FI executed the solving steps already planned, and checked the correctness of the solving steps by analyzing the conformity to the plan, sometimes the subject asked himself because he felt that probably the problems were not in line with the solving steps to be achieved, (3) in the stage of checking the correctness of the solution, FI firstly asked to himself for he felt that probably there might be something illogical, then he matched them manually in order to confirm the results obtained, and when observing his own ways of work, FI decided that the results he obtained were correct, (4) FD was easily influenced by his environment; thus, in the planning stage, he tried to interact with others first and only then he could convey the information that he knew and was asked to him, and he could develop the problem solving steps, (5) in the problem solving stage, FD executed the solving steps, and checked the correctness of the solving steps by analyzing the conformity to the plan, sometimes the subject asked himself because he felt that probably the solving steps were not in line with the solutions to be achieved, and (6) in the stage of checking the correctness of the solution, FD asked to himself for he felt that the solutions obtained were not in line with the objectives being asked, and when observing his own ways of work, FD remained confident with the results he obtained.

Abstract

This research aimed to describe the profile of conceptual knowledge of seventh grade students Al-Azhar Palu of junior high school in solving linear equation-one variable (LEOV) problem. Subjects of the research were students from mathematics high ability. Data collection used mathematics achievement test, conceptual knowledge test, and interview protocol. Data of the research were analyzed by applying qualitative analysis. The result of data analysis in this research is: (1) there are by mistake in comprehending concept in classifying LEOV and non-LEOV;(2) can making a generalization by constructing a mathematical model from a story problem type; and (3)can determining equivalent equation forms, and remembering definition of order-1of LEOV and properties of LEOV.

Abstract

The Research aimed at dinding out describing the direct and indirect effects of Prior Knowledge, Emotional Quotiont, and Parents attention on students Achivement of Mathematics in MTs Galang Subdistrict Tolitoli Regency. The Population of the Research was the students MTs Galang Subdistrict, Tolitoli Regency registered in 2015/2016, consisted of 984 students. These samples are taken with probability sampling technique. The data of prior knowledge and toward the mathematics learning which using achievement test, and the data emotional quotient and parents attention are taken with questionnaire. Istrument test cover validity and reliability. Hypotesis fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh are using double regression, with significance level α = 0,05. The research findings indicated that there were significant effect between:First prior knowledge toward themathematics learning with contribution 40,7%. Second, emotional quotient toward the mathematics learning with contribution 12,1%. Third, parents attention toward the mathematics learning with contribution 11,9%. Forth, prior knowledge and emotional quotient toward the mathematics learning with contribution 45,2%. Fifth, prior knowledge and parents attention toward the mathematics learning with contribution 43,7%. Sixth, emotional quotient and parents attention toward the mathematics learning with contribution 20,1% and Seventh, prior knowledge, emotional quotient, and parents attention toward the mathematics learning with contribution 47,4%

Abstract

Permasalahan terhadap kurangnya keterampilan metakognisi siswa dalam menyelesaikan permasalahan pada materi aljabar diperoleh dari hasil observasi yang dilakukan oleh peneliti dengan memberikan soal operasi bentuk aljabar kepada siswa kelas VII SMPN 1 Palu. Berdasarkan hasil observasi diperoleh kemampuan berpikir siswa dalam memecahkan masalah. Oleh karena itu dapat disimpulkan bahwa kurangnya keterampilan metakognisi siswa ketika memecahkan masalah pada materi aljabar. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk memperoleh deskripsi keterampilan metakognisi dalam memecahkan masalah materi aljabar siswa kelas VII SMPN 1. Palu. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan lembar observasi, tes tertulis dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian ini menujukkan bahwa (1) siswa yang berkemampuan matematika tinggi menyadari menggunakan perencanaan, pemantauan dan evaluasi dalam setiap tahapan pemecahkan masalah matematika, (2) siswa yang berkemampuan matematika sedang menyadari dalam menggunakan perencanaan, pemantauan dan evaluasi dalam tiga tahapan pemecahkan masalah matematika tetapi pada tahapan memeriksa kembali hasil siswa yang berkemampuan matematika sedang belum menyadari dalam menggunakan evaluasi, (3) Keterampilan metakognisi siswa berkemampuan matematika rendah dalam memecahkan masalah materi aljabar belum menyadari dalam menggunakan perencanaan, pemantauan dan evaluasi dalam setiap tahapan pemecahkan masalah matematika.

Abstract

Induksi matematika adalah salah satu materi matematika yang diajarkan di sekolah menengah atas, dalam materi ini diperlukan pemahaman konsep, prosedur dan teknikal yang baik. Kesalahan siswa dalam mengerjakan soal dapat menjadi salah satu petunjuk untuk mengetahui sejauh mana siswa menguasai dan memahami materi. Berdasarkan hasil wawancara dengan guru matematika kelas XI SMA Negeri 6 Sigi, diperoleh informasi bahwa siswa melakukan kesalahan dalam menyelesaikan soal induksi matematika.. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kesalahan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal Induksi Matematika, berdasarkan kriteria Kastolan. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode tes dan wawancara. Kesalahan mahasiswa dalam menyelesaikan soal tes berdasarkan kriteria Kastolan dikategorikan ke dalam jenis kesalahan konseptual, prosedural, dan teknikal. Penelitian ini melibatkan siswa SMA Negeri 6 Sigi pada semester ganjil Tahun Ajaran 2022/2023 sebanyak 32 siswa. Tiga siswa dipilih sebagai subjek penelitian, dimana satu siswa mewakili masing-masing kesalahan yaitu kesalahan konseptual, kesalahan prosedural, dan kesalahan teknikal. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa jenis kesalahan konseptual yang terjadi saat menunjukkan kebenaran untuk n = 1 dan n = k. Jenis kesalahan prosedural yaitu tidak menuliskan kesimpulan akhir dari pembuktian yang diberikan, tidak melakukan pembuktian untuk n = k+1 serta tidak melakukan proses induksi dengan baik, yaitu tidak menggunakan asumsi peryataan sebelumnya n = k ke pernyataan n = k + 1. Jenis kesalahan teknikal berupa kesalahan dalam mengoperasikan aljabar.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh deskripsi mengenai pemahaman konsep siswa kelas IX SMP Negeri 3 Dampelas dalam menyelesaikan soal kubus ditinjau dari level berpikir Van Hiele. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas IX SMP Negeri 3 Dampelas sebanyak 3 siswa. Pemilihan subjek berdasarkan level berpikir Van Hiele. Data yang dikumpulkan pada penelitian ini berupa hasil tes geometri siswa. Hasil tes siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal kubus. Instrumen penelitian ini terdiri dari Van Hiele Geometry Test (VHGT) untuk mengetahui level berpikir geometri siswa, soal tes pemahaman konsep dalam menyelesaikan soal kubus dan pedoman wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan siswa yang berada pada level 0 berpikir Van Hiele hanya memenuhi satu indikator yaitu mengidentifikasi contoh dan bukan contoh. Kemudian siswa yang berada pada level 1 berpikir Van Hiele mampu memenuhi dua indikator yaitu menyatakan ulang konsep yang telah dipelajari dan mengidentifikasi contoh dan bukan contoh. Sedangkan siswa yang berada pada level 2 berpikir Van Hiele telah memenuhi semua indikator yaitu menyatakan ulang konsep yang telah dipelajari, mengidentifikasi contoh dan bukan contoh dan mengklasifikasikan objek menurut sifat-sifat tertentu sesuai dengan konsepnya.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze student errors and factors causing errors of cognitive style field independent (FI) and field dependent (FD) students. This study used a qualitative method with a descriptive approach to describe the errors of FI and FD students in solving social arithmetic story problems. The research was conducted at SMP Negeri 3 Dampelas with the research subjects amounted to 2 students each representing FI and FD cognitive styles. Data obtained by giving written tests and interviews. FD students and FI students made conceptual, procedural and technical errors. However, FD made more mistakes when compared to FI. This is intended from the errors made by FD students containing all error indicators, while FI students made errors in indicator 1 for conceptual errors, indicator 2 for procedural errors, and indicator 2 in technical errors. The factors causing the occurrence are not understanding the material taught, not being able to solve the problem according to the procedure properly, not being careful in calculations, and not checking back.

Abstract

Analysis of mathematical problem-solving abilities is a detailed observation effort of students' abilities in solving mathematical problems. Combinations in mathematics cause difficulty in understanding information and getting the main idea of sentences; therefore, knowing students' learning styles helps them choose an appropriate approach. This research aims to describe problem-solving abilities in solving combination material story problems based on the visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles of class XII MIA students. This research uses qualitative methods with research instruments consisting of learning-style questionnaire sheets, test sheets, interview transcripts, and member check sheets. The research subjects consisted of a visual, an auditory, and a kinesthetic student. The research results show problem-solving abilities: 1) visual students understand problems, formulate plans, arrange to problem-solve, and review the results; 2) auditory students understand problems, prepare plans, arrange problem-solving, and review the results; 3) kinesthetic students understand problems, make plans, organize problem-solving, and not check the results. These results show that visual and auditory subjects can answer mathematical problems well and correctly. However, the kinesthetic subject is unable to solve mathematical problems. In conclusion, these results provide a detail that increases students' and teachers' awareness that kinesthetic students need extra support to improve their problem-solving ability.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the types of errors of students in class XI SMA Negeri 1 Sirenja in solving story problems of linear program material based on Newman's Error Analysis in terms of mathematical ability. This type of research is qualitative research with a descriptive approach. The subjects in this study were based on the results of prerequisite tests with two-variable linear inequality material with consideration of students who made the most mistakes, were able to communicate well and recommendations from mathematics teachers with one student with high, medium and low mathematics abilities. Data collection techniques in this study were written tests and interviews in the form of one essay question and interview guidelines. The interview technique used was semi-structured conducted with selected students to ascertain the types of errors made in solving story problems. The results of this study show that the errors made by subjects with high mathematics ability (ST) made mistakes in writing the final answer (encoding error). Errors made by subjects with moderate mathematics ability (SS) made errors in process skills (process skill errors), and errors in writing the final answer (encoding errors). Errors made by low ability subjects (SR) made errors in understanding the problem (comprehension error), errors in changing the problem into mathematical form (transformation error), errors in process skills (process skill error), and errors in writing the final answer (encoding error).
