Abstract

Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to determine the misconceptions made by Unisa Mathematics Education students about the concept of limit.  The research method used was a descriptive qualitative approach or survey design, where data were collected through comprehension tests, interviews, and observations of 16 students. The results showed that students consider limit as something that is not reached, limit is an estimate, limit is a boundary, and a function will always have a limit at a certain point. Other misconceptions are that students consider limit as a substitution process, even though the substitution process causes the denominator to become 0, students still write 0, and they think that when the function has a limit value, the function is defined at a certain point and must be continuous. These findings are expected to contribute to the development of more effective learning strategies to overcome misconception in Mathematics Education students and improve their understanding of calculus concepts, especially function limit.       Keywords: limit concept, limits of functions, misconceptions.

Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding is an important effort to improve the health and development of babies, which is encouraged by various health organizations throughout the world. However, the rate of exclusive breastfeeding still varies significantly in different regions, which can be influenced by various factors. The study aim to explore the relationship between mother's work and knowledge and exclusive breastfeeding practices. This research is analytical observational. This research was conducted in May 2024 in the L Sidoharjo Health Center Work Area with a population of 152 mothers with babies 7-12 months and a sample of 35 mothers with babies 7-12 months. Data analysis using Chi-Square. The results showed that working mothers did not provide exclusive breastfeeding (87,5%) and non-working mothers provided exclusive breastfeeding (81,5%) with p=0.000. The research results show that there is an influence of work on exclusive breastfeeding. Good knowledge provides exclusive breastfeeding (77.8%) with p=0.006. The research results show that there is an influence of knowledge on exclusive breastfeeding. It can be concluded that, there is an influence of work and knowledge on exclusive breastfeeding.

Abstract

A deep understanding of prime numbers remains a significant challenge, particularly for pre-service mathematics teachers responsible for conveying this essential knowledge to their students. Prime numbers have an essential role in mathematics, including in factorization, proof, and cryptography. Therefore, this study aims to describe and analyze the representational abilities of prospective mathematics teacher students at Alkhairaat University, regarding the prime numbers in Number Theory. This study uses a descriptive exploratory method with a mixed-methods approach based on a sequential explanatory design. Data collection was carried out through diagnostic tests, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, which were then analyzed using descriptive statistics for quantitative data and the Miles & Huberman model for qualitative data. Triangulation of methods and time was used to ensure the validity of the data. The findings showed that out of 17 students, only 29.41% were able to provide accurate verbal representations related to the prime and composite numbers, and only 5.88% were able to link the two meaningfully. In addition, while students were able to mention definitions, most of them had difficulties applying the prime numbers in the abstract problem context, including examples in algebraic notation. This study concludes that there is still a significant gap in the representation ability of prime number concepts of pre-service mathematics teachers. The implications emphasize the need for integrating multidimensional representation learning strategies into the mathematics education curriculum so that prospective teachers are better prepared to teach prime numbers in a comprehensive and meaningful way.    Keywords: representation, prime numbers, number theory, pre-service mathematics teachers.

Abstract

Coronavirus Disease or COVID-19 has been a concern for the world, including Indonesia. The very rapid transmission of COVID-19 has had a wide impact on all communities around the world, especially Indonesia. To see the transmission of COVID-19 cases, which continues to increase rapidly, we can use a growth model. The growth model is a non-linear regression model that is used to describe growth behavior. These models can be exponential, sigmoidal, or S-shaped curves. The purpose of this study was to determine the growth curve model of positive COVID-19 cases in Indonesia using the Gompertz, Logistic, and Weibull models. After that, the model evaluation will be carried out using the coefficient of determination as a parameter, so that the best model will be obtained that can predict more accurately the growth of positive COVID-19 cases in Indonesia. The best model that can predict the growth of positive COVID-19 cases in Indonesia is the Gompertz model, with a coefficient of determination is 0.99064.

Abstract

This literature review aims to look at optimizing the application of student character in social studies learning. Social studies learning has an important role in forming student character. Students who have mental strength and good morals will certainly be able to have a personality with character. This can differentiate him from other students. Social studies learning in forming students' character is certainly not an easy thing, it requires continuous struggle to produce results that are in line with national education goals. One of the main objectives of social studies learning in schools is to be responsible for building students' character to become good and useful citizens. Social studies education is actually very closely related to character education. This can be seen from the formulation and objectives, that character education or values education also aims to make students become good citizens. Social studies learning has similarities with character education in that both have the aim of making students good citizens, concerned about existing social and environmental problems, and also both have a high sense of nationality.

Abstract

This research aims to provide an analytical description of students' errors in solving mathematical problems from the perspective of Newman, Kastolan, Watson, Hadar, and Polya errors and the factors influencing them. So, a Systematic Literature Review with the Prisma model was used in this research. Data was collected via Google Scholar and DOAJ in the 2017-2022 period in the accredited national journal Sinta totaling 366 articles. The Miles & Huberman model is used in research to analyze data by collecting, reducing, presenting, and drawing conclusions. The results of this research provide information regarding error analysis from the perspective of the Newman, Kastolan, Watson, Hadar, and Polya steps, as well as their indicators. Apart from that, the findings also provide information on external and internal factors that influence students' mistakes both through the learning process and related to personal character, mathematical abilities, and gender. Therefore, a teacher or educator needs to analyze the results of students' answers/work related to solving mathematical problems so that teachers can diagnose their students' strengths and weaknesses. The results of this diagnosis can be a reference for teachers to reflect on learning to choose the right learning model or method for mathematics material that suits the student's condition.
