Abstract

This study was motivated because aggressive behavior often occurs in early childhood and is a concern for educators in schools. Aggressive behavior that is left unchecked can disrupt the learning process and interactions with peers in the classroom. This study aims to describe how early childhood educators interpret children's aggressive behavior, the frequency of aggressive incidents, and to determine the needs of educators for a guidebook for interventions for aggressive behavior in children. This research method is quantitative descriptive with a survey. Data collection using a questionnaire via google form with 83 educators as respondents. Data analysis using descriptive statistical analysis including percentage, mean, median, mode, and standard deviation (SD). The results showed that the frequency of educators encountering physically aggressive behavior was quite high, namely 47% almost every day, while verbal and rational aggression was reported rarely. Most educators are aware that untreated aggression can continue into adulthood and believe that good language and positive parenting can reduce aggression.

Abstract

Abstract

Coping learning is critical for fostering children's ability to cope with their problems. This study explored the issues and requirements for creating a training model for coping learning in kindergartens in Yogyakarta. Following Borg and Gall's exploration stage of the research and development approach, this research analyzed four (4) principals' and five (5) educators' input. During the exploration stage, data on coping learning was collected through observations and interviews. Interactive analysis was employed as the data analysis technique.  The findings revealed some issues, specifically: 1) educators lack the necessary knowledge and skills to implement coping learning effectively, 2) the lack of a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for coping learning resulted in a haphazard approach to its implementation, 3) educators have limited knowledge and ability to manage children's emotional and behavioral problems, 4)  insufficient coping-based learning resources, and 5) certain parenting practices prevent children from developing coping skills. The needs assessment results will then be used to create a training model, which will then be submitted for expert judgment and field testing to determine its effectiveness.

Abstract

Abstract

The Bunda Menyapa Campaign is a community service initiative designed to initiate institutional advocacy for early childhood education through the involvement of Bunda PAUD at the village and sub-district levels. This activity was conducted in the form of a public discussion involving the Bunda Menyapa PKM project team, Bunda PAUD Desa Kedungbanteng Kecamatan Kedungbanteng, Banyumas District, and college students from the Early Childhood Education Teacher Education Study Program of Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto. The students participated as the proposing group of the campaign idea and as the writers of the Bunda Menyapa campaign song. The activity aimed to formulate the initial embryo of the Bunda Menyapa Campaign as an institutional advocacy model to be proposed to Bunda PAUD Kabupaten Banyumas. The method consisted of participatory public discussion, campaign concept presentation, stakeholder dialogue, theme-song discussion, and initial review of a policy brief proposal. The result of the activity was the formation of an early campaign concept that integrates symbolic leadership, community communication, institutional advocacy, and policy recommendation. The discussion also opened an opportunity for the policy brief proposal to be developed into a practical advocacy document for strengthening PAUD governance in Banyumas District.
