Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on students’ learning interest and mathematics learning outcomes in elementary school. The research was motivated by the low level of students’ interest and mathematics achievement caused by conventional teacher-centered learning. This study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. The population consisted of fifth-grade elementary school students in Cluster I of Mapat Tunggul Selatan District. The sample was divided into two groups, namely an experimental class taught using the Problem Based Learning model and a control class taught using conventional learning methods. The research instruments included a learning interest questionnaire and a mathematics learning achievement test. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Since the data did not fully meet the assumptions of normality and homogeneity, hypothesis testing was conducted using the Mann–Whitney U test. The results showed that there were significant differences between the experimental and control classes in terms of both learning interest and mathematics learning outcomes. Students taught using the PBL model demonstrated higher learning interest and better mathematics achievement than students taught through conventional learning. These findings indicate that the Problem Based Learning model has a positive and significant effect on both the affective and cognitive aspects of elementary school students in mathematics learning.

Abstract

The learning process in the modern era should focus on developing 21st-century skills, including critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication. However, these skills are still relatively low, causing students’ potential and abilities to remain underdeveloped. This study aims to analyze the improvement of 21st-century skills through the implementation of the Oriko for Adikoeva (8i) simulation method in science learning. The method consists of eight stages orientation, collaboration, formulation, action, discussion, communication, evaluation, and appreciation which integratively foster students’ critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and communication skills. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with a classroom action research design conducted in two cycles. Data were collected using observation sheets and test instruments, and analyzed descriptively and comparatively to identify improvements in both student skills and teacher performance. The results indicate that the application of the Oriko For Adikoeva (8i) simulation method significantly enhanced students’ 21st-century skills. Improvement was also observed in teachers’ ability to design and implement learning activities. These findings imply that integrating simulation methods based on collaborative and reflective activities can be an effective strategy to strengthen elementary students’ competencies for the 21st century.

Abstract

This research was conducted because technological advances in learning media are increasingly sophisticated and diverse. Kvisoft Flipbook Maker is an application that allows you to create interesting learning media using materials, images, videos, music, and animations that will inspire students to learn. Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model is the type of research used. The steps of the research process in the ADDIE model include analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation. Data were collected based on validation questionnaires from material, language, and media experts, as well as practicality questionnaires from teacher and student feedback. The results of the media validity test were 90%, material 83.7%, and language 98% in the very valid category. While the results of the teacher questionnaire were 92.48% and the student questionnaire 94.46% in the very practical category at the trial school. Furthermore, the results of the teacher questionnaire were 96.42% and the student questionnaire 95.64% in the very practical category at the research school. Thus, it is concluded that Kvisoft Flipbook Maker as a learning media for Flat Building material in grade IV of integrated elementary schools is valid and practical.

Abstract

Abstract

This conceptual study explores the theoretical and practical dimensions of learning assessment in elementary education by integrating assessment principles, techniques, and instruments within a unified conceptual framework. Employing a literature review approach, this research synthesizes relevant studies published between 2020 and 2025 from reputable international and national journals to examine current trends and challenges in assessment practices. The findings indicate a significant paradigm shift from traditional product-oriented assessments to formative and authentic assessments that emphasize learning as a reflective and continuous process. Core principles such as validity, reliability, authenticity, and continuity are identified as critical in ensuring fairness, accuracy, and meaningfulness of learning evaluations. Furthermore, the integration of test-based and non-test techniques, alongside the application of digital and authentic instruments, enhances the comprehensiveness and adaptability of assessment implementation in various educational contexts. Despite these advancements, challenges persist in teacher assessment literacy, technological readiness, and the contextual adaptation of assessment practices across diverse school settings. The study concludes by proposing a theoretical model that positions assessment not merely as a tool for measurement but as a pedagogical instrument that fosters reflection, student engagement, and competency-based learning aligned with 21st-century educational goals.

Abstract

This article presents a systematic review of recent empirical research on the implementation of formative assessment in elementary schools 2020-2025. Formative assessment is defined as the ongoing process of collecting and using evidence of learning to guide instruction and improve student achievement (assessment for learning). Following the PRISMA protocol, researchers identified 38 studies from 512 articles found through searches in indexed databases. A thematic analysis of these studies revealed three main themes: (1) the conceptual evolution from evaluation techniques to a pedagogical philosophy based on dialogue and student agency; (2) the complexity of implementation related to socio-emotional dynamics, cultural contextualization, and technology integration; and (3) multidimensional impacts on academic achievement, 21st-century competencies, and teacher professional identity. Successful implementation depends on teachers' ability to create psychologically safe spaces, build reflective dialogue, and design responsive systems. The conclusion states that effective implementation requires a systemic approach through continuous professional development, instructional leadership, and supportive policies. Future research is recommended to adopt participatory design, develop contextual frameworks, and expand studies on the affective-spiritual dimensions of formative assessment.
