Abstract

  This study examines the prolactin hormone profile in Etaawa, Sapera and Saanen lactating goats, adult females, pregnant does, and yearlings. This study used a total of 80 randomly selected goats with details of 26 Ettawa Crossbreed goats (eight lactating, six adult females, six pregnant, and six heifers), 32 Sapera goats (eight lactating, six adult females, twelve pregnant, and six yearlings) and 22 Saanen goats (five lactating, four adult females, six pregnant and yearling). All goats were declared clinically healthy. Blood sampling was performed through the jugular vein in each animal; then, serum was analyzed with an Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) to prolactin concentration. High prolactin concentrations were found in Saanen goats in pregnant physiological status compared to Sapera and Ettawa crossbreed goats.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the profiles of total bilirubin, ALT activity, and total protein in Garut sheep at different ages and physiological stasus. A total of 36 head of Garut sheep with various physiological conditions (ewe, ram, female suckling lamb, male suckling lamb, female postweaning lamb, male postweaning lamb, young ram aged six month, young ram aged one, pregnant ewe, and lactating ewe) was used in this research. Blood samples were taken through the jugular vein in the morning before the sheep were fed. Then, the values of total bilirubin, alanine aminotransferase (ALT), and total protein were analyzed. The mean total bilirubin value of Garut sheep was 0.59 ± 0.49 mg/dL, influenced by age and not affected by sex or physiological status. The total bilirubin value of ewe lambs was the highest (1.85 ± 0.87 mg/dL) compared to the total bilirubin value at other ages. The average value of ALT activity in garut sheep was 18.84 ± 6.56 U/L, which is influenced by age but not affected by physiological status or gender. The value of ALT activity in female suckling lamb was the lowest (7.03 ± 0.81 U/L) compared to ALT activity at other ages. The average total protein of Garut sheep was 6.48 ± 0.83 (g/dL), which was affected by age but not affected by sex or physiological status. The lowest total protein was found in female suckling lamb (.51 ± 0.59 g/dL) compared to total protein values at other ages. It was concluded that age affected the values of total bilirubin, ALT activity, and total protein in Garut sheep. Therefore, the age of Garut sheep should be considered in the interpretation of total bilirubin, ALT activity, and total protein.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji aktivitas enzim alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), dan creatinine kinase (CK) pada kambing peranakan Ettawa. Sebanyak 43 ekor kambing peranakan Ettawa dari berbagai kelompok status fisiologis (jantan muda, betina muda, jantan dewasa, betina dewasa, betina bunting, dan betina laktasi) yang secara klinis sehat dan tidak cacat digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Pemeriksaan klinis dan pengambilan sampel darah dilakukan sesuai dengan skedul pemeriksaan dan pengambilan sampel sesuai dengan standard klinik yang diuraikan Baumgartner (1999). Pengambilan sampel darah dilakukan pada jam 7.00-8.00 wib. Pemeriksaan enzim di dalam serum diperiksa dengan menggunakan metode standar sebagaimana diuraikan oleh Kraft dan Duer (1999). Aktivitas AST, ALT, ALP di dalam serum memiliki level yang sebanding dengan level pada ruminansia lain. Sementara itu, aktivitas CK lebih tinggi dibanding nilai yang dinyatakan di dalam literatur untuk ruminansia kecil lainnya.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji tingkat stres sapi yang dipotong di Rumah Potong Hewan (RPH) Yogyakarta. Dalam penelitian ini digunakan 20 ekor sapi yang dibagi menjadi dua kelompok, yakni kelompok sapi yang dilakukan restraint dengan restraining box tipe Mark 1 (K1, n=13) dan kelompok sapi yang dilakukan restraint dengan metode konvensional (K2, n= 7). Masing-masing kelompok diambil darahnya sebelum dan saat dipotong untuk diperiksa kadar kortisol dengan enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Rata-rata kortisol sapi betina sebelum vs setelah restraint pada K1 dan K2 masing-masing adalah 55,64±52,13 vs 21,23±20,63 ng/ml dan 127,48±150,19 vs 106,28+75,39 ng/ml. Rata-rata kortisol sapi jantan sebelum vs setelah restraint pada K1 dan K2 masing-masing adalah 40,28±38,12 vs 24,21±17,21 ng/ml dan 49,51±38,67 vs 69,62±63,98 ng/ml. Rata-rata kadar kortisol tanpa memperhatikan jenis kelamin pada K1 dan K2 masing-masing adalah 79,50±88,50 vs 95,80±69,69 ng/ml (P>0,05). Disimpulkan bahwa tidak terdapat perbedaan kadar kortisol sebagai indikator stres pada sapi-sapi yang dipotong di RPH Yogyakarta yang mengalami restraint dengan restraining box tipe Mark 1 dan restraint metode konvensional.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the apolipoprotein-B (apo-B) gene in atherosclerosis mice which were orally given curcuminoid extract of Curcuma xanthorriza. A total number of 30 white mice were split into 6 groups, the first group considered as control (without any treatment), second group as atherogenic feed control, the third group as extract control, while the fourth, fifth and sixth groups as atherogenic feed and curcuminoid Curcuma xanthorriza extract group treated with 5 mg/mouse, 10 mg/mouse and 15 mg/ mouse, respectively for three months. The blood samples were taken from all six groups for the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) analysis using total DNA isolation, DNA amplification with polymerase chain reaction (PCR), and DNA sequencing. The data analysis showed that 374 bp nucleotide sequence gen of apo-B from Rattus norvegicus in groups B, C, D, E, and F did not cause any changes in genes. The analysis showed the sequence of apo-B Rattus norvegicus gene in the treatment group was apparently identical with that of Rattus norvegicus group A as the control group without treatment. As conclusion, the administration of curcuminoid zanthorrizza to atherosclerosis mice did not change the gene structure of apo-B 100.

Abstract

Thyroxine hormone (T4) was one of the hormones related to metabolism rate. Animal transportation could be stressor interfering metabolism. Sargassum crasifoium was one of brown algae species that contained some important nutrients and also flavonoids. The study aimed at finding out the effect of the Sargassum on the decrase in thyroxine hormone and body weight loss. It used 9 Javanese Randu goats that were classified into 3 treatment groups. Group I served as control, Group II was treated with 450 mg/kg BW of Sargassum estract and Group III was treated with vitamin B1. All of the goats were transported for 12 hours using pickup truck at the speed of 60 km/hour. Blood samples were drawn before the transportation, during loading, 6 hours after the transportation and at the end of the transportation, while the body weight of the goats was weighed before and after the transportation. The results of the study showed that the T4 hormone decreased in the Group I and increased in the Group III during the transportation, while it was stable in the Group II. The biggest percentage of the body weight loss took place to the Group III (0.13%), while the smallest percentage took place to the Group II (0.063%). Statistical analysis showed that the Sargassum extract did not have any significant effect (p>0.05) on both the thyroxine hormone and the body weight loss during the transportation. Based on the results of the study it could be concluded that the Sargassum extract could stabilize the thyroxine hormone during the transportation so that it could prevent the body weight loss

Abstract

Data Dinas Tenaga Kerja dan Transmigrasi Sulawesi Tenggara menyebutkan kasus kecelakaan kerja yang terjadi di sulawesi tenggara pada tahun 2019 berjumlah 256 orang, kemudian di tahun 2020 meningkat menjadi 494 orang dan di tahun 2021 hingga september juga meningkat menjadi 517 0rang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Hubungan Sikap Dan Komitmen Pekerja Dengan Penerapan Program K3 Di Kantor Kesehatan Pelabuhan (KKP) Kendari. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan menggunakan desain Cross Sectional Study. Populasi dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 87 orang, dengan teknik penarikan sampel secara Total sampling dengan jumlah sampel 87 orang. Hasil penelitian dengan uji chi-square diperoleh variabel sikap dengan X2hitung = 0,031 < X2tabel = 3,481, dengan phi 0,019 dan analisis hubungan komitmen pekerja dengan X2hitung = 41,379 > X2tabel = 3,481, dengan phi 0,690. Kesimpulan penelitian ini yaitu tidak ada hubungan sikap dengan penerapan program K3 dan ada hubungan kuat komitmen pekerja dengan dengan penerapan program K3 di Kantor Kesehatan Pelabuhan Kendari. Diharapkan Kepada pekerja di Kantor Kesehatan Pelabuhan Kendari diharapkan agar dapat mendukung setiap kebijakan yang ada khususnya kebijakan tentang penerapan program K3.
