Abstract

Laboratory skill is one of the factors that cause anxiety for students. This study aims to determine the factors that influence the anxiety of nursing students in the first semester before the laboratory skill. This study used a cross sectional study approach. This study used a sample of 112 respondents who were taken using a purposive sampling technique and had inclusion criteria. This study used bivariate analysis with chi-square test. There are 65 respondents who have a low level of anxiety (58%), 47 respondents have a high level of anxiety (42%). The results of statistical tests carried out on 2 factors resulted in an influence between the environment and anxiety levels in early semester nursing students with p value (0.000) < alpha (0.05) and there was an influence between knowledge level and anxiety level in early semester nursing students with p value (0.000) < alpha (0.05). Abstract

After childbirth, a woman undergo significant changes, requiring them to adapt to their new role as mothers. Failure to adapt can lead them to psychological stress. Coping strategies such as problem focused coping (PFC) and emotional focused coping (EFC), are methods used by mothers to manage the stress. The choice of coping strategy significantly influences the level of stress experienced. The purpose is to determine the correlation between coping strategies and stress levels in postpartum primiparous mothers. The method uses a type of quantitative research using a cross-sectional study approach, consisted of 67 postpartum primiparous mothers, selected using purposive sampling techniques. The results of the study using Spearman Rank showed a significant negative correlation between PFC and stress levels (p-value = 0.001), with a correlation value of -0.412. This indicates that higher PFC values are associated with lower stress levels. Conversely, there was a significant positive correlation between EFC and stress levels (p-value = 0.021), with a correlation value of 0.282. This suggests that higher EFC values are associated with higher stress levels. Conclusion there is correlation between coping strategies and stress levels in postpartum primiparous mothers. Specifically, PFC was negatively correlated with stress, while EFC was positively correlated

Abstract

ABSTRACT Adolescents in Pekanbaru face significant reproductive health challenges, including anemia, vaginal discharge, and menstrual pain. Many students are hesitant to take the blood supplement tablets provided by the UKS and lack education on menstrual hygiene management. To address these issues, the team developed the "Haid Bersih" module. The initiative aims to deliver promotional and preventive services, as well as education on menstrual hygiene management, aligning with University IKU 3 and 5. The methods employed include reproductive health screening and menstrual hygiene education. Screening is conducted for both female and male students using a questionnaire that covers access to counselling, menstrual experiences, reproductive health problems, and incidents of sexual violence. The "Haid Bersih" module specifically provides guidelines for menstrual hygiene in wetland areas. The results indicated enthusiastic reception of the educational activities by UKS students, teachers, and nurses. Students received booklets and accessed information through posters and QR codes for screening. The screening revealed that while the majority of adolescent girls had received counselling on puberty and sexually transmitted disease prevention, sexual health education remained minimal. Many girls reported discomfort during menstruation and other reproductive health issues. Generally, male students exhibited signs of puberty. There is a clear need for further education and enhanced digital literacy among adolescents to access reproductive and sexual health information. These findings highlight the necessity of a comprehensive approach to addressing adolescent reproductive health in Pekanbaru Keywords: Adolescent Reproductive Health, Menstrual Hygiene Management, Adolescent Screening

Abstract

Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) remains understudied among women living in wetland environments, despite their vulnerability to limited access to clean water and sanitation. This study aimed to explore the practices, needs, and challenges in menstrual hygiene management among reproductive-age women residing in the wetland areas of Riau, Indonesia. A qualitative phenomenological design was employed. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with six women aged 19–42 years, and triangulated with two additional informants (a community health nurse and a participant’s mother). Colaizzi’s method was used for data analysis. Two major themes emerged: (1) Adaptation to environmental constraints—women utilized existing water sources (rivers, boreholes) and followed inherited traditions for menstrual hygiene, including unsafe disposal of sanitary pads; (2) Strategies to maintain reproductive health—women managed discomfort through herbal remedies, self-treatment, and informal social support. However, myths and lack of accurate knowledge persisted. Women in wetland areas manage menstruation through improvised practices shaped by environmental and socio-cultural factors. There is a pressing need for culturally sensitive reproductive health education, improved access to WASH facilities, and sustainable sanitary waste disposal systems
