Abstract

Mathematics becomes one of many subjects which shows low student engagement. This paper aims to understand students’ attitudes toward school and mathematics, the impact of student behavioral engagement, influential factors, obstacles in promoting student behavioral engagement, and how to promote student behavioral engagement. Students’ interests of school decrease in high school. Behavioral engagement impacts academic achievement, meaning of learning, and self-esteem. Influential factors of student behavioral engagement are motivation, the role of parents and teachers, and peer support. Obstacles in promoting student behavioral engagement are building intrinsic motivation, teachers’ beliefs about student behavioral engagement, and parental styles. Some ways to promote student behavioral engagement are using various teaching method, keeping optimal learning environment, and focusing on peer. Conclusion and suggestion emphasize on the role of teachers in their authority in the class and cooperate with parents.

Abstract

The achievement of the graduates profile which is the goal of Mathematics Education majors Teachers College UPH is to prepare teacher candidates who have the character, calling, and competence also the graduates can role as a Mathematics teacher know the concept of knowledge. However, in the achievement of the graduates profile has not been satisfactory, because results of learning are low in some mathematics courses, especially in Calculus II course. Based on the problem, major Teachers College do a structured academic activity that is response learning. The research method used is control group posttest only design. The sample of the research are the students of Mathematics Education major that take the Calculus II course in the academic year 2015/2016 as the control group and who take the Calculus II course in the academic year 2016/2017 as the experimental group. The improvement of this reponse learning result is seen from t-test analysis, obtained the decision of hypothesis test is exist significant difference between the control class and the experimental class. Abstract

Penguatan Pendidikan Karakter Melalui Literasi Klasik Di Zi Gui Dengan Pendekatan Teori Behavioristik. Literasi Cina klasik Di Zi Gui merupakan kegiatan membaca dan menemukan nilai-nilai karakter. Kemerosotan moral, budi pekerti dan nilai sosial pada siswa menjadi permasalahan yang mengkhawatirkan. Penguatan pendidikan karakter merupakan upaya menyeimbangkan ranah kognitif, afektif dan psikomotorik siswa. Penguatan pendidikan karakter dapat dilakukan melalui kegiatan literasi di sekolah. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana pelaksanaan kegiatan literasi dengan pendekatan Teori Behavioristik B.F. Skinner dalam penguatan pendidikan karakter yang dapat diterapkan oleh para pendidik tingkat sekolah dasar. Metode penelitian ini berlandaskan kajian pustaka dengan menggunakan teknik analisis wacana. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan literasi Di Zi Gui bermanfaat dalam penguatan moral dan budi pekerti siswa. Nilai moral dan karakter dalam Di Zi Gui dapat membantu siswa dalam penguatan karakter dan budi pekerti siswa.

Abstract

This study aimed to measure the effect of transformational leadership and readiness for change on employee performance of the employee of a chemical industry. In this study, readiness for change is mediating variable. Data was collected from 220 returned questionnaire of samples taken by random sampling. Data was analysed using SEM method with SmartPLS 3.0 software. The results of this study showed that transformational leadership had a significant effect on readiness for change, transformational leadership and readiness for change have a significant effect on the employee performance, readiness for change have a positive and significant effect on the relationship between transformational leadership and employee performance. Readiness for change functioned as a partial mediator. This new research proposed a model for managing employee performance among the employee of the chemical industry in Indonesia through developing transformational leadership practice with readiness for change as a mediator. This research could pave the way to improve employee readiness in facing the era of industrial revolution 4.0.

Abstract

- This study aimed to measure the effect of work-family conflict on job satisfaction through organizational commitment (affective, continuence, normative) as mediation. The data collection was done by simple random sampling to 251 population of woman employee in an automotive industry in Tangerang. The returned and valid questionnaire results were 170 samples. Data processing was used SEM method with SmartPLS 3.0 software. The results of this study concluded that work-family conflict have not significant effect on job satisfaction, work-family conflict have significant effect on organizational commitment (affective, continuence, normative), and organizational commitment (continuence and normative) have mediating effect on relationship between work-family conflict and job satisfaction, except affective commitment have not significant effect on job satisfaction. This new research proposed a model for building job satisfaction among women employee of automotive industry in Tangerang through enhancing organizational commitment and by manage the work-family conflict. This research could pave the way to improve woman employee readiness in facing the era of industrial revolution 4.0.

Abstract

The vision and mission of a Christian School are to implement redemptive education in the school that includes learning processes and other school components. The purpose of this research is to determine the understanding of leaders and teachers about redemptive education. The research constitutes theory-grounded qualitative research. The instruments were interview guideline, documents, and observation. The subjects were 13 teachers and leaders of the school. The data processing was conducted by means of analyzing open coding, axial coding and selective coding. The research revealed 5 characteristics of redemptive education in the school, namely education that is consciousness of sin, Christ-centered education, education that has eternal perspective, education with holistic subjects, and discipleship education.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRAK: Visi dan misi dari suatu sekolah Kristen adalah untuk menerapkan pendidikan yang menebus di dalam sekolah yang meliputi proses pembelajaran dan komponen sekolah lainnya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana pemahaman pimpinan dan guru tentang pendidikan yang menebus di sekolah ini. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif grounded theory. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah wawancara, dokumen, dan observasi. Subjek penelitian adalah 13 guru dan pimpinan dari Sekolah Kristen tersebut. Pengolahan data yang dilakukan adalah dengan analisis kode terbuka, kode aksial, kode selektif. Penelitian ini mengungkap 5 karakteristik pendidikan yang menebus pada sekolah tersebut, yaitu pendidikan yang memiliki kesadaran akan dosa, pendidikan yang berpusat kepada Kristus, pendidikan yang memiliki perspektif kekekalan, pendidikan dengan holistik subjek dan pendidikan yang memuridkan.

Abstract

The problem of discipline is an issue that is considered common in the classroom setting.  The researcher found that the lack of discipline in some students in a grade 3 elementary school in Kupang made the atmosphere in the classroom uncomfortable and not conducive to learning. The researcher's aim was to integrate democratic-based rewards and consequences into the discipline process. Classroom Action Research was used with 4 students as the subjects. The study implemented in three cycles from October 16, 2017, to November 1, 2017. The instruments that were used in continuing to the next cycle were students' activities and observation; other instruments were observation of the method's implementation, mentor's interview, and students' questionnaires. The result of the research showed improved changes to student discipline from cycle one to cycle three.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRAK: Masalah disiplin di dalam kelas adalah suatu kebiasaan yang sudah dianggap umum terjadi di dalam kelas. Pada saat mengajar peneliti menemukan masalah kurangnya disiplin pada beberapa siswa di kelas 3 sekolah dasar Kupang yang menjadikan kelas tidak nyaman dan tidak kondusif untuk dilaksanakan pembelajaran. Peneliti bertujuan untuk memadukan antara demokrasi, imbalan dan konsekuensi dalam proses pendisiplinan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode tindakan kelas dengan 4 orang siswa sebagai subyek. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan sampai tiga siklus dari tanggal 16 Oktober 2017 sampai dengan 1 November 2017. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk melanjutkan siklus adalah lembar observasi aktivitas siswa dan instrumen lainnya adalah lembar observasi penerapan metode, wawancara mentor dan angket siswa. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan adanya perubahan kedisiplinan yang lebih baik pada siswa dari siklus satu hingga siklus ke tiga.

Abstract

A study program at a private higher education institution, namely CT, a transformational holistic education organization, implements an academic and non-academic guidance program through small groups called CARE Groups (CG). However, regardless of there being a CG program, there are still many cases of CT students breaking rules. These range from general cases to more severe ones that result in warning letters. The discrepancy found in the range of cases is the topic of this study, which focuses on the perspective of the CG leadership. The qualitative method of case study was utilized so that the data may be accurate and in-depth for analysis, in order for there to be further discussion. The three main findings that answered the problem formulated in this study were the description of strategies and CT efforts in equipping CG Leader (CGL), an explanation of the reasons for the emergence of cases among students, and the formulation of an ideal profile for a CGL.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRAK: Sebuah program studi di suatu perguruan tinggi swasta, sebut saja CT, suatu lembaga pendidikan holistis yang transformasional menerapkan suatu program bimbingan akademik dan non-akademik berbentuk kelompok kecil bernama CARE Group (CG). Namun, terlepas dari adanya instrumen CG, kasus pelanggaran peraturan di kalangan mahasiswa CT kerap kali muncul, mulai dari kasus umum sampai kasus berat yang memiliki konsekuensi Surat Peringatan (SP). Kesenjangan tersebut menjadi topik pembahasan dalam studi ini, berfokus pada segi pandangan kepemimpinan CG. Metode penelitian kualitatif studi kasus digunakan agar mendapatkan data yang akurat dan mendalam untuk dianalisis dan dibahas lebih lanjut. Diperoleh tiga temuan utama yang menjawab rumusan masalah dari penelitian ini, yaitu deskripsi strategi dan upaya CT dalam memperlengkapi CG Leader (CGL), penjelasan akan alasan masih munculnya kasus di kalangan mahasiswa, dan rumusan sebuah profil ideal bagi seorang CGL.

Abstract

The Lentera Harapan Christian School in Curug has a vision and mission to proclaim the preeminence of Christ and to be actively involved in the redemptive restoration of all things through Him using holistic education. In leadership, the school has implemented redemptive leadership that is in line with the vision and mission of the school. The purpose of this research was to determine the understanding of the school's leaders of redemptive leadership characteristics. The study used a grounded theory of qualitative research. The instruments were interviews, documents, and open ended questionares. The data was collected from ten leaders and analyzed by open coding, axial coding, and selective coding. The research revealed four characteristics of redemptive leadership at the school: leadership that develops sin awareness, Christ-centered leadership, leadership that glorifies God, and leadership aimed at discipleship.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRAK:Sekolah Kristen Lentera Harapan Curug memiliki visi dan misi untuk menyatakan keutamaan Kristus dan terlibat aktif dalam pemulihan yang bersifat menebus segala sesuatu di dalam Dia melalui pendidikan Holistis. Dalam hal kepemimpinan, sekolah ini menerapkan kepemimpinan yang menebus yang sejalan dengan visi dan misi sekolah. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pemahaman leaders mengenai gambaran kepemimpinan yang menebus. Penelitian ini menggunakan grounded theory yang merupakan bagian dari penelitian kualitatif. Data diperoleh dari hasil wawancara sepuluh leaders dan diolah dengan analisis koding terbuka, koding aksial, dan koding selektif. Hasil penelitian menngungkap 4 gambaran mengenai kepemimpinan yang menebus dalam penerapannya di sekolah tersebut yaitu kepemimpinan yang menyadarkan keberdosaan, kepemimpinan yang berpusat pada Kristus, kepemimpinan yang memuliakan Tuhan, dan kepemimpinan yang bertujuan untuk pemuridan.

Abstract

Employee performance plays an important role in determining the quality of an organization. Thus, one of the main reasons for evaluating employee performance is to maintain and even improve the quality of the organization. The transformational leadership style and the emotional intelligence of the principal can play an important role in building employee motivation within a school which can then influence employee performance. The aim of this research is to determine if the transformational leadership style of the principal, the principal’s emotional intelligence, and the motivation of the employees have a positive influence on the employees’ job performance. The research used a quantitative approach with a path analysis to determine whether the coefficient effect of each variable was significant. Data was collected from 75 employees in a school using a questionnaire. The results show that the principal's emotional intelligence and employee motivation have a positive effect on employee performance whereas the transformational leadership style of the principal has no effect on employee performance.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRACT: Kinerja karyawan memegang peranan penting dalam menentukan kualitas sebuah organisasi. Oleh sebab itu, alasan utama dilakukannya penilaian kinerja karyawan adalah untuk mempertahankan, bahkan meningkatkan kualitas organisasi. Kepemimpinan transformasional dan kecerdasan emosional kepala sekolah memegang peranan penting di dalam membangun motivasi karyawan sehingga dapat memiliki pengaruh pada kinerja karyawan di sekolah. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh positif kepemimpinan transformasional, kecerdasan emosional kepala sekolah, dan motivasi kerja karyawan terhadap kinerja para karyawan. Pendekatan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode analisis jalur untuk mengetahui apakah pengaruh koefisien dari masing-masing variable adalah signifikan. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan metode survei melalui kuesioner kepada 75 karyawan yang ada di suatu sekolah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kecerdasan emosional kepala sekolah dan motivasi kerja karyawan berpengaruh positif terhadap kinerja karyawan. Sedangkan kepemimpinan transformasional kepala sekolah tidak berpengaruh terhadap kinerja karyawan.
